But like what’s the point of getting rid of strider water walking?

We currently have no equipment on our mounts. When this goes live we have options. Using the equipment, when it goes live, to regain what we already had… we lose options.

Got it. You think an example or explanation is a personal attack. Done with you. My TL3 is more important than you understanding. Good luck.

You don’t understand it’s not about you,it’s about people that worked for the mount that has a value that they intended to use. That value is working for a mount to water walk from rep.

It’s because blizzard wants every class to feel like a death knight and use any mount we want on bodies of water. Proof that death knights are the best class. You cannot disprove my logic.

TBH, that’s exactly my issue. The fact that they are removing a system that’s been in the game for 3 previous expansions and could be (and still can be) obtained by some rep and a bit of gold. Once that was done, all of your alts have access to it for free.
That is being replaced with a system that allows for one free BoA consumable item for any characters that have the rep, all others must pay gold or level up and do the rep again. That BoA item should have been made into a toy or added to heirlooms. Selling it back to us is the issue for me. I would have rather they completely remove it versus requiring further payment. But it doesn’t matter now. So many ways they could have gone with this that wouldn’t remove and re-charge and, to me, they chose the path that’s least favorable from a player standpoint.

ok,what if Blizzard took that away one day ,even if you didn’t work for it .

My apologies, Myst. Not my intention to offend you. I have TL3, too, but I’d rather understand and make friends than annoy others. So you have my sincere apologies.

And my apologies to you. I’m not trying to offend anyone. Much is lost in straight text

Yes, why would blizzard want us to have fun?

This has nothing to do with waah too many water walkers are being used and everything to do with next expansion mount equipment won’t work in new zones until pathfinder part 1 (or worse part 2 but most likely part 1) is complete. That way for the first 6 months or so we have no choice but to be dazed and swim across water slowing us all down (shammy and dk and tanks being the exceptions)

Then after pathfinder part 1 we can use the mount equipment that we paid for last expansion again only to wait another 6 months or longer till we fly again.

Let’s also bet the final patch of BfA and the final patch of the next expansion will have zones like Timesless Isles and Argus where flying AND mount equipment won’t be allowed either.

This.

It is an asinine change and it sets a terrible precedent.

Guess we need to get rid of the grand expedition yak for any folks that didn’t take advantage of the free gold garrisons of WoD.

Oh and you can kiss that AH module on the longboi goodbye. That will be a mount equipment in 9.0 (minimum) for sure.

This change is beyond stupid.

The least they could have done was make it so each mount has it’s own slot. So you can customize them per what you want to use them for.

As it stand though - literally nothing would have been better. That is a pretty sorry state for your game design. When doing nothing is the better choice, and you still somehow manage to screw it up.

The whole system is being rolled out in the worst possible setup.
Firstly, it should be account-wide, mount specific. But no, it’s mount-wide but character specific. That kills your choices instantly, because the only way to make a choice is to burn another mount equipment piece. Secondly, there’s not even a way to remove the mount equipment that’s equipped, unless you replace it with something else. Thirdly, since water walking is the only innate mount trait that is being removed, it is also the only perk that will be available instantly at 8.2. Every other perk will require farming of mats and leveling of professions to make, and then the player has to choose “do I keep these for myself or do I put them on the AH and make bank?” The choice to make the gold seems obvious, but think how much gathering players will be doing initially and probably for some time. Hence the reason why they didn’t include the Sky Golem or Lumber Extractor just yet. That’s all you’ll see out and about.

I’m picking up what you’re putting down. Thank you for explaining it.

Are they similar to heirloom gear in that once the equipment module is purchased, you need not buy any more? Or are they like socketing gems: you’ll always need to purchase a new module if you replace/change the previous one out?

I usually don’t return to an interaction once I’ve called it, but your reply makes it worth another shot.

No reason to go that far. Save that for a real stuff up lol A failure to communicate is not worth that level of formality or remorse.

I can’t actually be offended (or shamed) due to certain factors, so no worries.

I’m just quick to protect what I’ve earned, so when people toss around stuff like patronize (or any other victim speak) I cut the liability. So many report happy professional victims that I’d rather abandon an innocent than get flagged again trying to help. Nothing on you personally, I don’t know you personally, it’s more an “environmental hazard” of the forums.

That is entirely too true.

I think the issue here is you’re arguing from a “gaining mount equipment” perspective and many of us are arguing from “losing an earned ability and the precedent it sets” perspective.

Bingo.

Well, ftr, I’m not going to be in that “we’re” part. My time ends sometime tomorrow. First time since pre-Cata where I won’t have an active subscription. This is just a part of numerous things that the expansion “has to offer” that makes stepping away an easy decision.

Thanks Mys. You’ve been helpful in the past clarifying some things (like the set bonuses in TW), and this is no different.

I think that’s exactly why I was failing to reconcile. I’m not in the same “boat” with the recent goings-on and didn’t realize the impact this had for those with already existing water striders. I don’t have that mount so that easily shows my bias!

All of the mount equipment, even the BoA water walking item, are consumable one-time use items. One-time use as in once you equip it, it remains your choice until you swap to another perk. If you swap, you lose whats currently equipped.

Maybe when the rat race is over and things settle down it’ll be better,I hope so.

Me and my 99 other deprived-of-a-water-strider-mount alts will miss your posts.
May all that is good be with you in your travels.

So…if I may extrapolate what I think others are concerned with: these new equipment items can set a precedent for removing the ability to use the stirrups, etc, because, hey, “we’ve got an app, err equipment item for that.” Like Mys was saying earlier…

So because you can only have one equipped, and further assuming they will be $$$, we are effectively losing options because we won’t be able to have those other buffs active and will have more choices to make regarding our equipment choice.

Edit to add: clearly see I don’t have a mage main…
