Even by your own admission, their purpose for destroying the water striders is because they are incapable of developing a new system that would prioritize you CHOOSING another mount. So instead, they control control control.

They are retiring what was once a nice perk but has unfortunately developed into a life-altering crutch, and replacing it with a system that gives greater flexibility.

The old system had the unfortunate side effect of Bug Mounts Everywhere.

So you admit that these item where went bye-bye and changed in the past and so will this system in the future .That means this system can take away mount abilities that the blizz lords wants or add to the mount system going forward.

Because you clearly don’t understand how mount equipment works. You think you’re getting one equipment slot per mount, but you’re not. It’s one slot per character; whatever you pick, you’re stuck with it until you shell out gold to change it.
Funny, that seems to be the argument of the folks claiming the strider is so OP they’re forced to use it all the time, whether there’s water around or not.
Not if the purpose of the new system was to keep people from being “forced” to use the strider “all the time”, never to let the rest of their mounts see the light of day.
