Burning of Teldrassil is Narrative Poison

Oh, Benedikt, for posts like these I love you. Hahaha. :joy:

And yet…

Hmmm…

The thing is that this comes not long after a genocide-level event. After forcing Tyrande to give up justice and let the Horde and Sylvanas largely go. At some point, you need to let them rebuild and grow. Let a series of good things occur else. Even George martin let the good guys have a victory after the red wedding.

Malfurion is about to get written off. So yeah, its one blow after the other.

Really doesn’t matter.

Again, multiple races have gone through kingdom crushing, genocidal level events and have still become bad guys, because, as stated by many, these races do not have hive minds and people within those races will do their own thing, even turning on their own because they feel bitter, betrayed, are power hungry, you name it.

  • The Humans of Lordaeron formed the Scarlet Crusade after their kingdom was genocided by Arthas. They were a faction of bad guys that we had to kill in not one but multiple expansions.
  • The Blood Elves were genocided by the Scourge, losing 90% of their population, but that didn’t stop them from being bad guys in Burning Crusade, as the Elves loyal to Kael’thas were not our friends.
  • The Draenei were genocided on Draenor by the Horde, but they still appeared as bad guys in the form of the Auchenai during TBC and we had to kill them along with a former Exarch.

Like, I’m sorry, but this idea that an enemy faction cannot have members of a certain race because it’s ‘unfair as that race just went through a horrible thing’ is honestly stupid.

Blood elves had the Scryer, Humans had Southshore, and Arathi. Draenei took an active role and the villain batting was minor.

Night elves in WoW was the first race since Warcraft 3 to get genocided. At some point, they need a break. Even, the blood elves were on the road to recovery and getting stronger. This was even stated by the devs who said they are in a good position. Night elves have been getting punched down. The draenei they died via story. Blood elves and humans, you played their villains. In WoW, Night elf players played the role of the victim and experienced their genocide as it unfolded.

Their major loss was self contained to one expansion, and then they experienced growth. The night elves suffered in BFA, and has not had closure or growth.

Yeah, the two posts don’t conflict with each other at all.

People are tired of misery writing.

…Do you have a Night Elf? I dont understand why every thread when people dont like how Night Elves are written you are saying the same.

???

How on earth did what you say make a lick of sense? So what? Because the Humans had Southshore that somehow makes it fine that the Scarlet Crusade were the bad guys? That because the Blood Elves had the Scryers (who were a neutral faction unless you were a blood elf, then by default they were friendly) then that makes it okay that the Elves under Kael’thas were bad guys?

By that logic all the friendly Night Elf towns and factions make it perfectly fine that some Night Elves are bad guys.

And they’re literally getting one in Dragonflight, since the storyline with respect to their new home is going to be playing out in that expansion. Sure, Malfurion is supposedly going to get killed so that Ysera can come back. We don’t know why though, and as we know from Shadowlands, death isn’t exactly final. I’d honestly expect Malfurion to be treated no differently than any of the other Wild Gods due to his strong connection to nature, so he’s probably going to end up in the Emerald Dream and able to be reborn at some point just like Cenarius was.

This whole ‘gotta treat the entire race with kid gloves’ logic because they got beaten with the tragedy bat is stupid. It doesn’t make a lick of sense, and this isn’t even happening right after BFA, there have been several years that have passed and lore wise the Night Elves have had time to retake their territory and recover much of what they lost thanks to the Horde, save for the obvious.

Yes, multiple in fact. A druid, a demon hunter and a warrior.

The Druid is extremely bitter at the Alliance and the Horde and honestly? He’d probably join the Primalists if that was an option. The demon hunter, story wise for their roleplay, took the opportunity that Illidan passed on and chose to lightforge herself and the warrior just returned from the Shadowlands.

I’m no stranger to Night Elf RP and their story.

Well that’s fine, so long as you know a good number of people just dont like it.

The fans are so tired of the misery show. Can we get an expansion, just one expansion where Night elf misery is not exploited?

And the fans will have to deal with it.

Just like the fans of every other race have had to deal with the tragedies that they’ve dealt with over the years. The Night Elves aren’t special or unique in this respect, and honestly? If you want a game where tragedy doesn’t occur to various races, then maybe WoW isn’t the game for you.

Because despite the fact that this MMO is made for a wide audience, the actual story and lore for the game would fit a darker, more mature game.

No, just tired of all the BS from folks who can’t handle tragedy in a video game.

It had been really tiring seeing thread, after thread, after thread of Night Elf players and other folks having a whinge because their race got hit with the tragedy bat and they didn’t get the perfect resolution that they wanted.

And now there’s an expectation that Night Elves can never be a part of a villain faction? Really? No, that’s just stupid.

Yes, people tired of misery is BS, how dare they not like a part of the story. Lol

Not always. The Black Bride says very little, but she is quite enthusiastic about slaying the Alliance. And her zeal is as infectious the plague.

OOOOOOHHHH, funny thing is not all of us can like it. Some can be freaking tired of unrelenting tragedy. The other races had tragedy, but then had uplifting moments and eventually came out strong. Nothing in sight for the night elves.

I am starting to think that carhagen is a low lvl employee just trying to defend their company.

Dude, if I was a Blizzard employee I’d be posting on my actual blue account to give my posts more legitimacy.

And I’d have already gotten several folks permanently banned for their behaviour here.

I don’t work for Blizzard.

Sometimes I wish I did, but, sadly no, I don’t.

Time to mute this thread so I no longer have to deal with the garbage posted here.

He probably knows that you talked badly about him on Twitter.

Like, people dont agree with you, its not a big deal.
Maybe dont tell them to leave the game for not liking misery RP?

I haven’t spoken about him on twitter. I am certain of that. Now a certain Blood elf who will remain nameless, I have.
