Your character will not be deleted. Currently it seems that these transfers will follow the same rules as all transfers in that, if someone on the destination server already has a given name, the player being transferred will be flagged for rename and have to choose a new one before logging in
Source: I just transferred my remaining Blaumeux characters to Earthfury and had to rename one. I don’t see any reason to expect the forced transfers on August 9 to behave any differently.
The players share just as much blame.
Players just want to play. If Blizzard had kept queues, instead of infinite layers, many more realms would have remained viable.

My guild left Heartseeker for Benediction. Some folks had several toons on multiple accounts. Transferred them all. This was their choice. Other guilds did the same thing, by choice. Purely mob mentality.
Wanted to express a genuine, heartfelt thank you for opening Normal to PvP. I have had both my Horde and Ally characters stuck on dead servers, and now I can play the game again.
Sure, but for every guild that did it by choice, how many did it out of fear that their realm would die or did it as their realm did die?

I’d still like some confirmation as it’s not quite the same as a stacker transfer if they’re collapsing servers into others.

SO kinda pissed a little I have a 3 tabs guild bank and upon opening a ticket was told that there was no guild transfers looking to be happening and now I see this, I have a full guild bank with 3 tabs on a dead server so not even no one to sell it too! They should allow guilds to go with their owners instead of pushing us out, some of us busted our butts to make the gold to put into these guild banks we had no idea the realms were gonna die I think they need to rethink this
can earthfury be one of the main transfer points and if so can everyone come play on earthfury from these realms letsss goooo all to earthfury
I’m guessing each server has a database of names, and if a name exists already, whoever transfers over next has to change it. So the priority would be:
Person on destination realm > Person who transferred first > Person who transferred next.
I highly doubt “oldest first” matters at all.
If this falls in line with prepatch, I would think the new WOTLK client will be dropping too. They know that WOTLK will have an influx of players and will need servers. Why remove servers when they will be needed? The TBC client won’t really be used anymore and won’t need as many servers. So that leads me to believe the server merges are the TBC client only and will not be on the WOTLK client. So maybe you will be able to play your characters on the new WOTLK client, but they will be unavailable for 2 weeks in the old TBC client? Just a thought.
Edit: This is all assuming that they keep TBC live.

This is all complete horse poop. What about realms that have a > 99% population of 1 faction and less than 1% of the other? We have to pay $25? How is this my fault as a player!?
There is nothing they can do outside of forcing a faction change for half the server, which we all know how that would go. Fact is most “pvp server” players don’t want world pvp. Transfer to grob or play pve.
You could come to Pagle, best server NA :D. You know bene is going to get huge queues in wotlk just like firemaw is getting now.
Bene has 30k, Firemaw has 35k. The cap is right around there.
Though I honestly expect Blizz to block transfers to Bene and Faerlina anyway. Send horde to Whitemane, Grobb, or Mankrik, and Alliance to Atiesh, Grob, or Pagle would be the smart move to balance out population and avoid queues.
