Bring Brutosaur back for 20th anniversary

The new vendor for the BMAH exists already. They just need to rotate stuff in and out of both, then phase out the AH portion of it altogether.

Yep.

The actual BMAH itself is a bit dated, and a sort of “alternative trading post” would be neato. Communities camping low population realms at 2:30 am EST to sell a service to buyers to xfer and collect gold cap to snag desirable items is…maybe thematically appropriate, but not great. :dracthyr_crylaugh:

Amen to that idea.

They removed the Brotosaur specifically because they realize just how much of a mistake it was. If a mount is worth that much in terms of its utility that it is an investment to spend the 5 million gold when it was available, and folks are still asking for it for 10 million gold …

That’s a problem. Because then it isn’t an effective gold-sink but rather some of the most broken utility ever released and with any and every other utility mount, to a lesser or greater extent it becomes mandatory to have.

So it doesn’t serve as a functional goldsink; it doesn’t provide players with something fun to work towards as the moment you have it effectively it becomes one of the 2-3 mounts that are too effective to not be using 100% of the time; and it created the same question of “does anyone have a vendor mount” except costing people 5.0000.000 gold.
It failed to do any of the things it was supposed to do. All whilst actively making the game worse. Not to mention that the mentality that surrounds this type of utility mounts isn’t good for the game; people start to make expectations of other players who has it and who doesn’t have it. Heck, go onto roleplaying realms with TRP installed - you on the regularly, at least during Shadowlands, would see folks saying “Yes I have the brutosaur, and no I won’t use it because of how badly people have treated me.”

All of this and more is why Blizzard said the mount itself was a mistake.

The thing shouldn’t be brought back as a mount and it is very easily arguable that it should be quietly removed from the BMAH. Make its appearances on there so rare that it effectively doesn’t exist anymore.

I’m not too concerned one way or the other for the Brutosaur, but I’d love for a vendor mount that has a barbershop on it.

Or a mammoth voltron that replaces towns entirely. I need a bank and a mailbox mount.

I wanted Fiona’s caravan for this. Barbershop, transmog, general goods updated, repair vendor… room for four…

So I think it’s time for a different dinosaur. We’ve got an apatosaur/brachiosaurus, velociraptors, triceratops and pterodactyls.

How about, finally, a T Rex mount? Or a stego? (impossible to saddle though) Or heck an apatosaur!

(None of these really relate to 20th anniversary, probably gonna be a horse)

I’m down for this. sounds awesome

What’s the SoO boss’s name? Thok or something like that? He would make an amazing mount.

Oh sweet the pony that we were promised.

My completely random mount request is a giant teddybear. I know it has like, 0.01% of ever being added though.

While I don’t think it should have been removed, it’s difficult for me to see these post as anything other bragging about how much gold you have.

Bringing that mount back would be a huge mistake imo. Because people WILL go ham on the wow token to be able to fund it. And then Microsoft-Blizzard-King will see the huge success of the WoW token and put more things in the game like that.

Here is the why for the removal, BTW. TLDR, proliferation concerns due to gold inflation.

If the reasons Blizzard stated for its removal are genuine - then they should have removed it FROM THE GAME. Entirely. For all players.
Or made it continually available to all players new and old.

We’re not talking about just cosmetics but real competitive AH advantage. I don’t get the “it’s available on Black Market Auction House” argument.
Maybe 2 players at most in an entire region of millions of players can get it each week.
It’s created an unfair 2-tier AH system between those who were playing in BfA or could afford it, and those who now cannot get it, unless they get a phenominal amount of luck on the BMAH.

I’ve been running 25 characters across 3 accounts checking the BMAH for around 5 months. Seen the Bruto a total of 5 times in that entire time, every time being unlucky. Last time was Sunday when I logged into a realm it was sitting there at 5,000,000 and in the few seconds it took for me to bid 9,999,999 someone else had already capped it. So I also don’t buy arguments about “5 mil was harder to get in BfA”. The mount now is exponentially harder to get than getting that much gold in BfA - particularly given it not only requires more effort now, but a significant amount of luck.

This mount should be either :-

  • Be made available to all again purchaseable from vendor, for gold cap or even multiple gold caps if you want to account for inflation (just have some kind of vendor token system where tokens can be purchased for 1 mil gold and Bruto costs 20 tokens or something)
  • OR it should be removed from the game entirely and those people who bought it refunded their money (BMAH or vendor).

The only way you’re getting that off the BMAH sadly is if you run a bot program to get it for you. That’s why people buy it up so fast because people have bots just parked at the BMAH just buying up anything of value instantly. So you’re never gonna get it legitimately.

You knew this because there are no new players!

There’s always new players. :dracthyr_a1:

Nope, but nice idea. You might be a new player.

Brutosaur? Nah, I’d say bring back that old removed Gnomish Mechanostrider mount and sell it for the goldcap…
