Bring back the challenge mode sets through fated dungeons

You didn’t hear the word “no” much as a kid, huh?

Half of those rewards are only cool because they are unobtainable. T3 is perfect example of something that was cool but isnt anymore since every nab is runing around with it.

yeah with different rewards and after being nerfed like 5 times laready in 2 years.

Odd that they left that little detail out…

It’s been a minute. Maybe BFA? I’m not sure. They have said fairly recently that it’s coming back.

Sorry :dracthyr_shrug: them’s the breaks.

Like I said, there’s time-limited rewards available right now that you could be working on.

Yeah, this little ditty is one they all choose to ignore.

100,000 other cosmetics in game available that they just haven’t bothered getting, and they focus on the one they can’t have. It’s very telling about human nature.

They always do…

I hope blizzard makes more challenges tho. Add new class transmogs, etc.

This.

and this also.

Create new challenges for players, instead of just dropping old items into the game. Blizzard already takes the easy way out and rewards us with recoloured mounts etc, dont tempt them to keep doing it, please.

While this idea is admirable in attempting to recreate the difficulty of the time, the fact is that’s a much taller order than it sounds, as it’s more than just numbers tuning. Many classes and specs do not play even remotely similar to their Legion iterations, let alone going back to cases like MoP Challenge Modes. Certain tools, and abilities that were accounted for then might not exist now, or vice versa - this can go both ways, making encounters easier, or harder than previous. We’ve already seen how the Mage Tower is a very different beast than it was in Legion for these very reasons, and needed a number of tweaks after the fact to balance it for the current game state, and thus will likely need more tweaks in the future as classes continue to change, get reworks, etc.

no that would not be a good idea.

blizzard had stated that these are limited time rewards and they should remain removed.

You’re motivated by the limited time aspect and not the “it looks cool” aspect?

Both are a factor. For example, there’s several elite pvp sets I’m going for this season. I already got the DH one, which looks fantastic. There’s several other classes that have decent looking gladiator set, but I’m not going to really bother gearing them up for pvp, because I know I can just buy those for marks of honor (of which I have hundreds) next expansion.

the mage tower in shadowlands was much harder than the mage tower in dragonflight.

blizzard did not do a good job of balancing the difficulty there to accomodate for the new talent trees.

the guardian druid mage tower took me probably 250-300 attempts in shadowlands (while using a fully gemmed twinked out mage tower set).

i walked into the enhance shaman mage tower with just normal level 70 gear, didn’t even use heroism (because i forgot about it) and one shot it… those mobs do like no dmg to me, i didn’t even use hex to stop the one cast that does massive aoe dmg (it’s supposed to be a wipe mechanic), i just healed through it.

I understand limited time seasonal items. It gives players a reason to strive toward it each season. There will be new unobtainable items next season to give that incentive and that’s perfectly fine.

The issue I have is the one shot items. If you missed the MT weapons, there’s no “next season” to look forward to. Same with the CM sets. There’s no next CM season. You just lose.

I mean, there’s the current MT which rewards recolors of the ToS mythic set, several of which look fantastic, and also the spelltome mount if you manage to catch 'em all.

Nobody talks about those though, because they’re freely available now

Hence my point

A lot of people pushed themselves hard to complete MT challenges, because we knew they would go away forever. They practiced and grinded and learned to play their class better than ever before, and got a very satisfying reward for it by the end.

Do you think that would have felt the same if it hadn’t been time-limited? Because I don’t.

I think we might have to agree to disagree here. I enjoy something because it’s visually appealing to me. I have the AotC wolf and I don’t think I’ve ever used it one time. It’s not visually appealing to me. It doesn’t matter that I spent time progressing heroic to get it.

The challenge doesn’t mean anything to me as long as what I get looks cool to me.

People obtain mythic sets that is one of the most challenging things in the game. I can get those same sets a few years later with about zero effort.

Which is why I’ve never even bothered glancing at mythic raiding, personally :dracthyr_shrug:

If those sets were season locked, I wonder how many more people would try their hand at it.

i completely agree, i would also like to add that the Ring from Dreanor should come back indefinitely because the storyline of that ring is the reason we get to see how Cordana Felsong became a twisted minion of Guldan.

she led the attack into the prison where the Demon hunters where captived and she is basically the reason as to why Maiev freed the Demon hunters.

Not to mention that that ring let’s you unlock Garona in your Garrison, i have her in 2 of my characters but i cannot have her on any alt and that ticks me off so bad.

The Capes of Pandaria should return because the storyline is awesome plus you can unlock a World boss from pandaria, i am tired of trying to find someone to help me unlock that boss, it is so annoyingly dumb, bring the darn Cloacks of Pandaria and the Ring of Dreanor back please.

in fact here is a suggestion Blizzard sense we have what is known as Timewalking wich is something that take place each month only focus at one expansion at the time why not have those things become available during those timewalks?

Want to unlock the capes of Pandaria? you should be able to do it during Pandaria Timewalk events, want to unlock the Ring? you should be able to do it during the WoD Timewalk events.

i am just saying that is still some lvl of a challenge for the players, limited time to get those things, you fail to get it this month? no worries you can continue again ones the timewalk of said expansion comes back again.

seriously i don’t understand why these things were taken out of the game in the first place…

I’m not sure there’s a good enough looking set in all the world (of warcraft) to get me to suffer through a 300-500 pull boss.

While I peronally have no dog in this fight i kinda see the OPs point.

Say you and a buddy who never played wow see a vid of someone wearing some awesome looking CM Gear riding a Warlords deathwheel and that buddy says

“Wow that looks so cool I want to be like that i think ill subscribe!”

“Nah, donʻt even try. Waste of time. You will never be that.”

“Oh well, it looked cool but I suppose if its impossible. No sense trying”

“Exactly.”

Personally, a huge motivator for when I signed up was when i saw that video of the dwarf with the bear in the snow. I wanted to be that! If someone told me at the time “Dont even bother trying you will never be that” i would never even have tried WoW

I think Mage Tower is the worst thing to bring up when discussing time limited event rewards, if your goal is to defend them.

A lot of profiles that have MT completion did so long after it was introduced. If you completed it before ToS was released, you can have an opinion.

But if you’re one of the people who were mostly cheesing it by…being in ToS gear, or even worse, being in Antorus Gear with the Netherlight Crucible and targeted legendaries…?

It kind of defeats the point you want to make. Like AoTC or KSH which can be easily earned at the tail end of the season they exist–if you earn things when they’re at the easiest iteration possible to do so…then it’s not like you really did the “hard” work it takes to get these kinds of items or achievements.

Which makes the whole mentality of FOMO being a good thing silly.

AoTC is not always difficult and can be done easily at the end, KSH is the same. Glads have a problem with win trading. At least Mythic raid is always difficult

I don’t care if it’s a purple (heck, even grey) item that says it’s a counterfeit, I just want to be able to do the questline, same with the WoD ring. I have little motivation to quest through either of the areas for the story since from my understanding, important parts of the story can no longer be accessed at all.
