As I said, I think the chance of them bringing it back is so miniscule as to be nearly impossible. It would have been hard enough working it up for Classic - doing it for retail would be a total nightmare.
But say they did, and they scaled down what was required to trigger the event - wouldn’t that cheapen something that is held in great regard and memory by many people? If you can just go to Silithus, ring the gong, start the fight, kill the mobs and get your goodies, how is that even the event? Its like taking part in the Olympics and the 500m race is reduced to 10m so everyone can get a prize. Sure you have the pixels but gawd, where is the sense of taking part in something special?
I don’t know if they would bring anything back but it is a chance for them to do fun things for the game and encourage players to have fun doing content that was removed.
Cheapen it for the people who transferred servers to get the title and mount? They could still make the event a worth while and fun endeavor. I don’t think it would cheapen anything thing, it only make the game more enjoyable for more people.
I can’t speak for other people but for me no because the item itself doesn’t mean anything it is the experience I value. I have memories all over Azeroth and those are what I value and probably one of the reasons why I always popup in every thread talking about “Let’s destroy the world and make it modern!” to say “As long as Zidormi is there to send me back”
Back in Wrath I think it was, people were going on the new realms that Blizz opened to ring the gong and that’s why new realms started opening with the gates already open
The only guy I know that has the title on my server, he transferred servers to get it since he missed it on our server.
No, I personally know someone that transferred to get the title and mount. I guess they learned their lesson from Vanilla to make the restrictions for Classic.
Fair doesn’t necessarily mean uniform. What you suggest is an illogical policy that would bind them to uniform action. Its one of those things that sounds good when you say it to kindergarten kids, but it doesn’t actually make sense when you start thinking.
We are talking about time-exclusives in WoW, so in a sense it is all equal. There is no difference between the MT appearances, the Grove warden, and so on.
I have a mixed opinion. On my server, there was an Alliance Mage who intentionally tried to screw everyone out of it. On one hand, I get it but on the other no. Some people put aside their time to do it when it was current. Sucks you didn’t get it, but that’s life.
A better call would be to do what the did with the Werebear. Make new skins and let people collect those. Lets the people who did it when ever feel accomplishment, without devaluing it. Lets new people get stuff too.
Fact is, if you don’t have any time sensitive items, players will cancel because they reason ‘they can always do it later’. That is not a good model for the game on the whole.
It’s the same thing. Wanting to make the mage tower weapons available is no different than wanting to make the older AotC mounts available, which is no different than wanting to make MoP and WoD challenge mode stuff available, and so on. You want time exclusive cosmetics to return.
