Bring back old PvP elite sets

brother I was just about to post this

but I got you

If an item/mog came into the game as ‘time-exclusive’ it should stay that way.

You didn’t earn it then, oh well.

i think you mean more the status of exclusivity than the elite sets themselves, because chasing such said elite sets does seem like a good goal to strive for, adding the past ones is even more incentive to play pvp.

or completely invalidates them.

i don’t know man… like i do have some elite sets that i get to brag about towards those that never got it but…on one hand, i never had this feeling of special you know?
like you walk around with the set, or go raid with your rading guild team mates, with your friends or whatever, no one comments… like, no one cares about it.
so like, while i do understand it, on the other hand what is the point of exclusivity if no one notices you?

It’s not really about people noticing you as much as it is the feeling of ‘Hey, I earned this’.

I’ve missed so many glad mounts/elite sets on alt classes from dumb crap since TBC but I would never ever want to see them return just to ‘provide incentive’.

While I ultimately agree with the return of T3 (being they were never time-exclusive just randomly removed in WoTLK with Naxx rework) look at what happen’d. They added them back in and now they went from ‘kinda neat’ to ‘meh everybody is wearing it’.

Like I said, I’m all for items/mogs/mounts that disappeared for no apparent reason returning to the game however stuff like challenge mode/mage tower/elite sets/glad mounts/ksm mounts/tyranny illusions came into the game with the notion of being ‘time-exclusive’ and should remain that way.

In Legion, I missed my favorite mount in the game the Cruel Gladiator’s Stormdragon by literally 2 points after not sitting it at 2625. I still wouldn’t want the chance to ‘re-earn’ it, I missed it, it sucks, it is what it is. It would feel like cheating if I could earn it today.

I would much rather see elite recolors or unused tints that were never put into the game.

to be fair… thats because the black auction house way of obtaining them is far cheaper to obtain the t3 set, and those that are rich already have the set, and those that are poor… are still poor and can’t afford buying it.

People do care because the topic keeps getting brought up lmao. I’m personally for not bringing them back, they were advertised as limited time sets and we cared enough to get them then.

yeah, but care more in this way:
you´re walking around and someone says “omg you look so badass man, how can i get this set?” and then i look at them and i say “you can’t man, but hey… if makes you feel any better, you can look at me :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

They’ll probably bring back recolored versions in the Trading Post.

If anything recolored sets should be a seasonal token. Putting those sets on the trading post would be a terrible way

we can increase participation WITHOUT diminishing the achievements of other players you know.

how about we focus on how horrendous the base UI is for players and you’re required to use addons like gladius/sarena to even have a proper visual on your enemy. even the old UI was extremely bad for new players. Then you have WAs that blatantly tell you what’s goin on and who’s using what.

we havent had a new BG since end of legion. rbgs have yet to get an update. the lfg system for pvp is still daunting to use. solo shuffle wait times for dps is abysmal and healing is extremely unrewarding. balance is all over the place. mmr is still scuffed.

fixing those would increase participation.

Maybe this could be an incentive to increase healer participation in RSS.

I would do anything for the legion season 5-7 monk elite set. Please Blizzard

Locking unique skins behind queueing as a healer would be the absolute stupidest thing they could ever possibly muster.

Not only that, but rating is so arbitrary. 2k in one season could be 1800/1900 in another season depending on inflation. FOMO rewards are so silly and outdated, no other game really does this anymore.

Such a weird perspective to have on a bunch of pixels and code. Prestige is one thing but if you weren’t around to earn the reward, gatekeeping it is just so outlandishly weird.

If you want your prestige so bad let them give you a Feat of Strength for having it (i think they already do) and be done with it.

This just sounds like a character flaw and just because you struggle with it doesn’t mean others should be affected by it.

Also if that’s your viewpoint then you should be able to see how incredibly beneficial it would be for the longevity of the game to make these rewards perpetual. It would promote a lot of organic engagement.

I would dive into serious arena in a heart beat if 2s/3s were made to exclusively allow the procurement of old elite sets.

The entire set looks horrible but the bracers are cool. You could use individual pieces for a different mog.

personally, i would never wear an elite set i didn’t earn. the idea is cringe to me, but if it invigorates the ladder then i guess…
