I have the challenge mode armor on three of my characters. Rather than get that armor on 2 more that I like the look of, I opted to help others get their armor on my best character. Still regret not being selfish for two full runs, but was my choice.
I got all the base artifacts. I can say I hated rushing it. But I wouldnt mind either way. Especially for new players. And if it means bringing back other old rewards thats good. This is a virtual world with virtual rewards you donāt even technically own anything you earn in-game. So as far as virtual licensing goes I donāt think itās a big deal for a recreational activity.
Yea, thatās it. Make new challenges, then deincentivise players from doing them by making the rewards the same as past rewards. Makes perfect sense. Orā¦or, hear me out, they make new rewards for new challenges.
Then people would complain that they wanted the old rewards so they couldnāt get the new ones. Also the fact that these were advertised as limited time, so bringing them back would betray any trust of any kind of announcement blizzard would ever make about content again.
Because unless you can turn back the clock to Legions class design and Legendaries and also have tier gear in your bags as well, itās not the same challenge. Therefore you shouldnāt get the same reward.
It was not the same challenge even within Legion.
Anyone who earned it at the beginning had to work that much harder for it.
Doing it with Heroic Argus gear was pretty much a joke.
I did it with LFR Argus gear and it was already easy (I was determined to not use consumables/buffs other than what the class offered).
Even then, it could be a lot harder or a joke depending on which legendaries you had.
The notion of āchallengeā you have is misguided.
For the challengeās consistency, everyone should be forced into a preset gear/talent set and banned from using items. The closest thing we had like this was MoPās CM Dungeons, and even that was skewed.
Yeah none of this really changes anything though. Even with LFR Argus gear there was players that struggled. And the notion that gear alone dictated how all of the Mage Towers went is actually inaccurate. Yes there were challenges that you could overpower with gear, but some of them were a mechanics check as well that if ignored resulted in failure.
And no. I donāt want Blizzard wasting time making a preset for everyone and having feedback where people complain because they canāt figure it out. Iād rather they make new challenges then cater to people who either werenāt playing at the time or couldnāt be bothered to do it.
Then the people will still complain until it is made to be easier to obtain. God forbid people had to actually use CDās, dispells, and proper cc to unlock an actual challenge skin.
Id sure as hell would love benediction on my priest, but i wasnt playing at a level where i could obtain it at the time. I was bad in vanilla. Now that i know most aspects of the game doesnt mean that i should be able to cry hard enough to get what others worked hard for at the time.
Except most rewards are usually hard or time consuming to get with the then current ilvl and mechanics. They are trophys, much more than just an appearance. You didnt complete the challenge? You didnt earn the trophy. It isnt something that could truly be understood unless youāre in the position of the people who actually earned them at the time.
I did not appreciate rushing and doing it. I missed out in doing other fun stuff like pvp. Now I feel the same way with the Brutosaur. I wouldnāt care tbh. The mage tower was one of the greatest things about Legion and having it like an anniversary event would be nice. They are virtual items, they are dope, they are the highlight of the expansion. And some of the only Legion models available. I think if they want to do good by the old players give them a title, or toy or something. Adding is better for older players then taking away from future players.
