Bring back 5mans

No, it was rejected by a few loud whingers who just want free loot mailed to them. Plenty of other people loved them.

Sadly people cried about mecha being too hard so it got nerfed on the first week. Hard mode isn’t really any harder either it’s just the boss fights which are easy anyway. A cool idea but not where near hard enough.

Gotta say I both enjoyed the difficulty of those heroics and remember vividly the enormous push by the community to make it easier. Perhaps they were spoiled, perhaps they just thought that pre-raid gear should be more accessible than raid gear, but there was a very loud push back by many players. I’d argue that now is a great balance. Just want to run the dungeon once for some easy pre raid gear? Totally an option with heroic. Want to experience real intensity and end game challenge but don’t like raiding? You’ve got mythics. Feels like a solid balance to me.

I think timing was a bit of it for Cata. We just came out of Wrath where dungeons were a huge faceroll for the badges by the end. It was probably pretty jarring for some people since CC wasn’t really needed for a long time.

With Classic being popular, it could be a good opportunity to try it again, but I haven’t been paying attention to Mechagon feedback to be fair.

I disagree. The hard mode boss fights are objectively harder.

Whether they could be more difficult is up for discussion, but you cannot dispute that slime guy is harder having to dodge robots, kuj0 is harder with the Super speed debuff, and King mechagon is absolutely not a face roll and requires good group communication and coordination to beat.

Ok I miss spoke.

What I mean is that with the fact that everyone out geared mechagon in like 2 weeks the fights are harder than the normal mode face roll but still crazy easy. Also as far as I know there is no hard mode for the robodome or guarden bosses which sucks.

The only hard thing about king is the instant wipe when someone screws up the clicks.

As a mage can you just freeze the bots like I can mass root? It makes them pretty trivial. Frost Nova or something? Idk mage specs maybe it’s only frost.

Mostly, but I still think King Mechagon is far more of a skill and coordination check. You can’t outgear him, gear helps by making you have to deal with less button pressing due to a shorter fight, but it’s still substantially harder.

I agree.

Yep all those sorts of things work. Definitely helps, but even so hard mode mechagon is still a substantial step up in difficulty over everything else available. A lot of people still find it very challenging. Which is fine, because challenging content is far more enjoyable than faceroll.

I miss the way Cataclysm heroics were before everyone begged for Blizz to tune them down. Too many people complained that dungeons took too long or got just outright mean when the party would wipe that people just up and quit doing them. The “gogogo” mentality ended up winning because of the crying that was done, and the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Much as I would like to see it, the days of making strategy, marking, using cc, line of sight, and actually having to be careful in a dungeon are long gone.

Week 1 Mechagon felt much like what you are describing. It was really nice.

Then it was nerfed to oblivion because everyone complains .

Obviously it was too much for them to gear up and come back. No it had to be all 1 shot on the first try

~WoTLK days~

Dungeons only had Normal and Heroic
Normal you can do repeatedly
Heroic is once a day (Dungeon)

Raids is once a week as usual

How is this better than what we have now?

The amount of challenge I believe is what people are asking for. Not the lock out.
Meaningful challenging 5 man content that isn’t nerfed to be trivial within a week and isn’t on a time limit like m+

I would think it’s appropriate that the difficulty is set to be that way because they can get 430~450 gears if they’re so eager to get EP tier Heroic/Mythic gears

God I’m so fortunate to have catched up with people who played this expansion earlier, thanks to mythic plus

Yea it should have stayed as it was. People were complaining while still being way under geared for the tier. Maybe they should have brought it out later so people actually had the right gear for it. Then we get the crying over time gating. I’m just glad I don’t work for blizz.
The wow community is a bunch of self victimising cry babies who want everything given to them with no challenge. It’s sad.

I wouldn’t even care if the dungeons didn’t drop gear if there was actually some sense of fun involved in them. They could drop purely cosmetic junk or even just stupid things. I quit doing that garbage because of the reasons I stated above. It’s not about fun it’s about how fast you can get it over with to the degree they’ve made different difficulties to see how fast you can finish it. There’s no point to even having trash mobs in heroics nowdays. You can solo just about everything in there up to a boss. Reeeeeal heroic.

So… just do normal?

What? How do you derive a sense of fun from doing something LESS challenging?

Pre-nerfed cata dungeons, they want those types of dungeons, the “every trash pack has 2 mechanics and we need to CC”

I don’t get it.

So what constituates Fun for you?

Is it the difficulty?
The design of the dungeon?
Boss mechanic?

I was talking about the way that heroics used to be a challenge where parties had to give consideration to the success of pulls. Marking, using cc, even line of sight pulls here and there, and trash wasn’t simply a three-button kill. So… yeah I guess the challenge of it. And everyone understood that it was gonna take some time to get through, and you’d probably wipe a time or two, so they didn’t pitch prissy fits in chat if the group did eventually wipe. There wasn’t the need to rush rush rush to the finish line. Heck I’ve seen healers get kicked from groups just because they had to take a moment to regen some mana.
