Not really. Slightly geared was all that was needed.
I didn’t raid in TBC, I only ran dungeons and quests with a little PvP on the side. I had dungeon gear, a PvP weapon (the only reason I did PvP) and Badge gear and I found them to be fairly easy.
The only real exception was MGT, and even that one became easier with the same gear if the tank knew how to pull it and some basic CC was used occasionally. MGT and Shattered Halls are the only ones that could really be considered “hard enough for CC”, imho.
That’s not slightly geared. You forget that the dungeon gear, badge gear was far from meaningless back then.
I don’t think you understand what niche means. Paladin’s were niche AOE tanks - they were fairly mediocre general tanks as it was pretty much warrior or die, but they were amazing AOE tanks and made a number of fights much easier due to this.
Totally agree and classic makes it even more obvious which I hope ends up pushing the dev team into making dungeons hard and rewarding. Maybe at least add more tougher dungeon difficulties without a timer and no lfg. I personally hate the idea of a timed dungeon run. I didn’t get wow 13 years ago for speed running. Let us take the beautiful artwork in. I’m sure the art team would appreciate that.
I miss BC dung in general. Maybe it’s me and the time frame but Bc/wrath had a good balance of challenge and difficulty. BC you had to farm rep and pray rng.
Mythic+ is basically like an entirely new thing. It’s totally different to how hard 5mans used to be tackled.
It’s horrendous to me they’ve completely abandoned this traditional form of content and put all of their eggs into the Mythic+ basket.
Please, for Pete’s sake Blizzard, make Mythic+ timed-mad-rush just one mode and bring back slow strategy as it used to be.
The only hope is for more people to become disillusioned from this very rigid system, because for many RUSH! like a madman mode really is the most anti-RPG thing possible.

I played back in vanilla and boy oh boy I hated running ubrs and lbrs and brd for and hour or so depending how good the groups were. Fml was the most dreadfully boring thing to me after the umteenth run of it.
Modern WoW is mario party where you queue for your desired mini game. The M+ is cooperative time trial mode where you race against the clock. I do them each week on a few characters for the free loot but it shouldn’t be the focus that replaces all other content.
Same!!! I loved Kara mythic I loved mechagon mythic, I want more!!! I don’t want them nerfed and cut in half ;( playing classic made me miss smaller content with buddies. It’s more fun and bonding.
Well M10 can be done by just doin one pull at a time and just not dieing too much.
Even 15s if you’re geared.
At 20s is where you gotta come up with routes and strats and do HUGE Dps WHILE maintaining CC and Intrupting.
Be honest, you’re not complaining because of “ go go go “ and “aoe explosions” it’s cuz you don’t wanna developer the skills necessary to do more than one thing at a time.
Not according the the small vocal minority on these forums that are convinced that dungeons can’t be fun unless you have just stupid levels of difficulty.
