You know what annoys me? Celestalon started this whole revamp and everyone hated it. I’m glad that blue haired freak isn’t working on WoW anymore and got shafted to Hearthstone.
I don’t think I can help you. GL with your Normal dungeon Revenge/Execute with PI build.
The devs really overvalue brew, always so reluctant give it buffs. It wouldn’t be so bad if there were upsides but right now it feels like there are zero upsides to playing brew. The brewmaster discord is increasingly ex diehard brewmasters playing other tanks.
It’s dire!
I know I’m really behind at around ksm levels, but even down in +6s and +7s and 646 ilvl I’m getting left wait listed until literally and other tank signs up, even for the full 5min
I think other classes in the lower keys know brew is behind.
Brew has a few problems besides balance.
#1 Community perception. The community rightly assumes Brew isn’t great in M+ because it is almost never great in M+
#2 Brew is harder to play well than most tanks AND is far easier to play very badly. This is especially true in low keys.
#3 Goes back to #2… healers either don’t understand Brew or have terrible experiences with Brew. This causes them to not want to group with Brew. Yes there is always a tank shortage but there isn’t exactly a lot of healers to go around.
The lack of haste scaling really hurts.
It really isn’t a spec made for mythic+ at this point. It’s a raid tank. I would say aside from mythic+ brewmaster is pretty good. And some brews still make it work well enough. It’s not on Blizz’s radar to give it more utility in mythic+ or to fix their survivability/threat gen in there either.
3% dmg addresses every gripe about the spec. Brew is done being tuned for TWW.
At least brew get some buffs. Prot war is destroyed despite also being a middle of the pack tank. Meanwhile VDH gets a slap on the wrist.
Brew got a 4% overall buff which still doesn’t make up for the 20% changes they gave all tanks except brewmaster which got 15%.
Brewmaster is currently 10-15% behind the 2nd lowest tank in raid, guardian druid and 50% behind prot warrior on all raid fights. In m+ we’re the lowest but right next to guardian druid instead of behind them.
Prot war nerfs amount to a 5% nerf in overall and 2% nerf in ST. Given that prot war is a whopping 50% ahead of brewmaster and 20% more than the next highest tank I think you’ll be fine.
To put it into perspective, they could buff brewmaster by 30% and we would end up in 2nd or 3rd as far as DPS goes. How far we’ve fallen from the moniker of “4th DPS spec” in M+ is beyond me. My guess is that whoever coded up Brewmaster for the rework did such a terrible job that nobody knows how to work on it.
A buff. A single buff. 3% dmg buff. Even with the nerfs to Prot they’ll still be better than Brew. I shelved my Brew this patch for a good reason, it’s even less represented this patch the several minor changes they released for it were a loud and clear message that the spec is essentially dead if you want to M+. VDH was buffed out the wazzoo, Brew got a minuscule damage reduction change and a change to a talent that changed nothing.
On what sim did you use to get those numbers ? For mountain thane build ? Don’t joke, we don’t use that build in m+. They nerfed 10-15% in all of my main dmg sources which are 75% of my overall dmg. How can you come to with 2-5%. Don’t make me laugh.
A whole bunch of little things.
They kept whittling away at our damage in Dragonflight when we were “the DPS tank” (but not really).
And then they’d do things like this:
- Aberrus tier set for Brewmasters is (4) Set Bonus: Rising Sun Kick grants a stack of Elusive Brawler, and when you dodge, the damage and critical strike chance of your next Spinning Crane Kick or Rising Sun Kick is increased by 5%, stacking up to 5.
- Followed by this 2 months later: Hotfix (2023-07-24): Spinning Crane Kick damage reduced by 20%.
So they nullified the gain from the tier set.
When we stopped using the tier set, did we get that lost damage back?
No.
They’ve been nickel-and-diming us for years now, like this.
Its from Skyhold.
In M+ top logs Revenge is about 25-27% of your damage so a 10% nerf on that is much less than a 10% nerf overall.
Wish list:
- S1 set bonus to base kit
- WoD RoP
- Interrupt range to 15
Dont forget Ox Stance removed and replaced with Keg of the Heavens and/or DF S3 Tier set.
And maybe a way to proc shuffle without needing to hit an enemy.
I think at this point, we need way more than 1 or 2 talent changes to keep up with other tanks.
Getting 1 or 2 lines every other patch and then nothing for months is infuriating. Brew has fallen behind severely compared to other tanks in M+, even behind Guardian druid.
At this current rate, it will take nearly 4 years of miniscule 3% changes to catch up with the other tanks in all content forms – And that saying nothing about our paltry sulstain that other tanks (besides prot war) seem to have in abundance.
In raid, its the same story: Our DPS is much much lower than other tanks, which means other tanks need to play worse in order for them to not rip aggro and die between tank swaps.
Say what you want but brewmaster still stands viable to this day
Definitely not the best, not even close but always viable
Brother I say this with all the love in my heart but kindly shut your ignorant mouth. You would not say that if your favorite spec/class was this far into the gutter and utterly abandoned by Blizzard.
Okay, then bring all the other tanks down to Brewmaster’s level
Every single one of them. I want them to have crappy self sustain, zero utility, poor damage and feel like they’re extremely weak.
No? Then go someplace else to be “viable”
