That’s actually hilarious.
I honestly finally got to experience how bad it is
I have a 2nd DK to get lfr transmog cuz why not, he was around 608 using a 610 weapon and I actually had to stop dpsing at times to not pull off the brm monk who was over 630
It’s actually insane it’s this bad and they just don’t seem to care at all
I’m main Veng DH lol
Not my bad you’re not good enough to play brewmaster, that’s a skill issue
Just by not being oneshoteable Brewmaster outscales most of other tanks in high enough content, it’s just worse on easy content
If you think brewmaster is bad, you’re the bad player. That’s all
Sorry for feeding the troll earlier. Guy revealed himself a bit too much to be the class clown.
lol

There is something funny about a guy with no real mythic accomplishments trying to say very high rating people are bad at the game
Viable, yes. Anywhere near in line with other tanks and objectively the worst tank for M+ and even raid now, definitely not.
It doesn’t bring anywhere near the utility other tanks do, it doesn’t bring self-sustaining survivability the other tanks do, it doesn’t even bring its original niche of “fourth DPS that holds aggro” anymore. It’s unfortunately terrible relative to other tanks. Looking at things in the vacuum of “can it complete keys at high levels? then it’s viable” is a trap and inapplicable to practical balancing.
I don’t see how it is
I freaking loved and I mean LOVED Brewmaster when it launched. I hate the shell of its former self that it is today.
Sigh
I am not saying Brewmaster doesn’t need tuning in saying this, but:
Tank Balance is complicated, especially at low-mid level play.
Tanks are tanks. But some players, especially less confident ones, build them with as many self sustaining / defensive talents and gear as they can. Meanwhile the highly skilled players pushing content are forgoing defensive talents (and hero specs) in favor of more raw damage, and using solely DPS Trinkets, offensive embellishments, offensive potions over cavedweller potions, etc.
There’s a big gap between a tank building as a tank and a tank building as a dps that holds aggro, regardless of class tuning. Reality is the latter is enough to live through most content so it ends up being optimal, but it’s not how everyone is building.
Doesn’t really apply to most of the brewmaster discussions, but might apply to you taking aggro off a guy in LFR, yeah?
dude your playing lfr, i outdps a 640 warrior as a 610 vdh. the former should be dusting me on st.
Again. In a high key Prot Paladin and VDH both offer significantly more utility. Pwar and BDK offer significantly more damage, though BDK’s is variable and RNG reliant. What does Brewmaster bring? Mediocre self sufficiency, mediocre damage and the only utility is a dispel that Ppal also brings and some mild offhealing. If the idea of “able to complete 14s means it is viable” then that just nullifies any chance for any tuning on any spec, regardless of the vast difference in performance and offerings the specs bring to the group.
The tank specs are nowhere near equal right now and Brewmaster is one of if not the worst performing.
Reading through this thread it feels like groundhog day. How many times do we have to do this dance?
Taking defensive talents over offensive talents isn’t really a thing for Brewmaster. You could lose some defensiveness to take Invoke Nizuao but his damage doesn’t correlate to your threat and hes a 1-2% DPS increase at best.
Reliability
When I play healer (most of the times lately) they’re my fav tank to heal
Takes too little damage from big hits and has very predictable damage spikes, whenever I heal I know my brewmaster won’t die
On the other hand, if I’m healing a DK or a Bear I know damn well it may go from 100 to 0 in 1s and there’s nothing I can do about it
There is some truth to this for sure, other tanks are more susceptible to one shots but it can be outplayed with a multitude of cooldowns these same specs usually have.
What is the outplay for taking more damage overall or doing substantially less damage than other tanks. What is the outplay for the lack of notable utility brewmaster has comparatively?
Could not have worded it better myself.
Yeah comparing a Brewmaster vs Demon Hunter in side-by-side pulls the VDH health bar doesn’t move, whereas the Brewmaster is bouncing around like a yo yo and then he dies.
Your talking points are 10+ years out of date.
I will say this was the feedback I got last season as a Brewmaster. Had a pre-made IRL comp (Enhance Sham/Ret Pal/Resto Shaman/Brewmaster Monk + Pug the last DPS). Apparently healing me was very easy.
Downside was without a rogue/hunter I had difficulty holding aggro against our Enhancement Shaman.
As Brewa says tho, it is nice to an extent only. It falls off in anything ‘competitive’ in a fast way. The video is well worth a watch.
Good luck mate. I’d love to dust off ol’ Wightrushin.
