Brand new classic account banned for no reason

Got a new account on for classic wow today and played for about an hour before the account got banned, cannot submit a ticket either as it will not let me log in.

Not sure what triggered the ban but i would like to know as the email doesn’t state a reason.

Were you multiboxing Prokin?

You will never get the exact reason for a ban. You should have received an email with a broad category and that’s about as specific as they can get.

The email would have had a link to appeal the account action. Below is the ticket path you can use.

Nope, haven’t played wow in years and only came back for classic wow.

Gotcha. They won’t tell ya what it was. Jeysca is correct. Appeal is the only route.

Doesn’t work, the link redirects me to “contact us” button because i cannot log into the account to submit an appeal, hence my problem.

I have submitted a ticket on this account but if i don’t get a reply by the time classic launches tomorrow i’ll just ask for a refund on the game time and be done with it all.

If it’s an appeal ticket, it’ll take a few days.

I don’t think you’ll be eligible for game time refund due to account action.

Account action for the 46 mins i played? If they can’t get my account going that’s the least they should be able to do.

It’s crazy how someone who just wanted to come back and play wow, got a new account on for classic, bought a sub and played the game for less then an hour and got an ban that doesn’t really state anything except for “account hacked” and i cannot even submit a ticket or ban appeal on that account.

That’s not even mentioning the 10 step fail to restart again captcha system you have to do on a new account, good lord its hardly worth it anymore.

Use your computer for work-from-home purposes too?
Got anything that helps streamline tasks - like, for example, autohotkey?

You can submit tickets without logging in, but it’s easier to track if you make a new account and reference the banned account when you make the ticket.

Good, that way you can track the ticket.

It will likely be a few days until you get a response. Account appeals usually take a few days due to a queue and also the investigation. I wouldn’t hold my breath in a response on your time frame.

Unless successfully appealed, you are highly unlikely to be refunded for the game time. Once used at all it is very unlikely a refund would be granted, and especially not in the case of a valid account penalty. If the appeal is successful you can ask for time to be credited for however long you were locked out.
You can keep appealing until they tell you no more will be looked into.

Hitting the button should bring you to this screen:

If you hit the “Can’t Log In” option, it will then give you some options:

Go with the “My Battle.net Account is Locked.”

Did your email actually say banned or suspended? I’m half wondering if it was locked if there was a billing issue or similar, something just as a precaution of a potential hack? Obviously, I can’t see what Blizzard is working with, so this is just me spitballing.

So was the account hacked or does the reason say “hacks/bots”? Those are two very different things.

If hacked you need to regain control of the account then appeal the account action.

I’m hoping live chat and/or customer support via phone will work tomorrow during business hours.

I cannot believe my new account got banned literally an hour after i made it and started playing.

There is no live chat for account actions, only rarely for billing. Phone support was disconnected years ago.

The email actually doesn’t state any reason for the ban at all, it just says “account closure”. Says it violated the EULA but its literally a BRAND new account.

So where did you get “account hacked” from that you stated earlier then? Can you copy/paste the entire email contents? Take out any identifying info!

Greetings,

Account:
Action(s) Taken: Account Closure

The Battle.net account has violated the Blizzard End User License Agreement. As a result, this Battle.net Account and all associated game accounts have been permanently closed. As the owner of this account, you are responsible for all actions associated with it. We will only overturn penalties if there is evidence of a compromised account. Read our Account Hacked article for details: https://battle.net/support/article/9852

Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to terminate access for conduct of this nature, with or without warning, as noted in the Blizzard End User License Agreement: https://www.blizzard.com/company/legal/eula.html.

Blizzard Entertainment

That was after making the account, buying a sub and playing for an hour. I had no hotkey or anti cheat programs running, just discord, nivida and steam.

Yeaaah, this reads to me as an account lock. Especially since you couldn’t just log in for your appeal. It sounds like you were hit with a ban like they do for potentially compromised accounts. They’re only banned until the account owner can prove that if there was a hack, that they’ve secured their account or if it seemed something like there were too many attempted charges in a short span, that they are sure it was you and not some bad actor about to do malicious things with the account.

Perhaps when our SFAs get in for the day, they can offer some clarification as to what may be going on here.

Good luck to you.

Oh! And an edit to say that if/when you get an email asking you to somehow verify your account? Do NOT reply to that email. You will have to either reply to the original ticket you opened, or create a new ticket, reference the original ticket # and submit your responses that way. Replying to the email just has it being yeeted off into the void. You may be surprised how many folks reply to the “Do not reply to” email, and then they come here upset when there isn’t any response after several weeks.

Have you had other actions on your bnet? You don’t have to be specific, just trying to help figure out what might have happened.

Nope like i said the Bnet account is brand new, also my old wow account is still in good standing as well which in hindsight i probably should of used but i didn’t remember the info at the time and was in a hurry to get something up and running for classic tomorrow. Kinda sucks i paid for a month sub and only got to use it for an hour, if i woulda known what i know now i wouldn’t have came back at all.

Made a new account
Downloaded bnet/wow
Downloaded addons
Played an orc hunter from 1-6
Got kicked from the game saying i was banned

No clue what happened / triggered it.
