my point being is that ziryus acts like you can just buff hybrids in classic like you did in wrath and everything will be fine.
the problem is he frequently “Forgets” to mention all the changes that went with it (homogenization really took a turn for the worse in that expansion, everyone was given aoe, self heals, and utility) and it actually had a huge impact on the rogue and warlock population, both of which by the point mists was full swinging were down to less then 7% of the population. (his argument was that rogues were still brought in mists, so it was okay, what did it matter).
And I simply disagree with that, it’s been proven you can simply buff hybrid and it won’t completely destroy pure classes playing those roles. They did buff hybrids and it didn’t have a negative impact on pure dps. If hybrid classes picked up more representation class wise that’s fine and makes sense as over all hybrids fulfill more roles.
They did not supplant rogues as melee dps or mages as ranged dps.
They’re being removed because the people are attacking you, not because blizzard favors your stance. They’ve already outlined what the game is going to be, so these endless cries for changes should probably stop.
so rogues and warlocks dropping down to less then 7% isn’t an issue?
and again you ignore all the other changes that had to happen with that.
it’s not as SIMPLE AS BUFFING HYBRID DPS.
in wrath hybrids were buffed. in compensation
- there utility was homogenized
- pures were given more utility
despite this the rogue and warlock population both proceeded to drop over the next 3 expansions.
that is a negative impact whether you like to admit it or not.
but lets play your little game.
lets buff hybrids wrath style. ie, everyone does equal damage.
why do i bring a rogue to a raid now? or a hunter (outside of 1-2 for tranq shots)?
a hybrid does just as much dps and brings me other stuff that actually makes them useful to me.
a rogue doesn’t offer me anything, and outside of the aforementioned tranq shot, i have no need for a hunter.
These aren’t the players who fought for it for years and years. These aren’t the players who signed a petition. These aren’t the players who accept Classic for what it is. These aren’t the players who are going to stick it out for years upon years
Very well said.
It’s just that as someone who wants that authentic experience, I look at this forum and all I see are calls for change…and it terrifies me. And I think a lot of ‘purists’ probably feel the same way. You can only be bombarded with so much ridiculous suggestions before it begins to wear you down. I find myself growing more and more defensive.
Remember what Gandalf said. “There are other forces at work in this world Frodo, besides the will of evil.” We are going to prevail, our will is greater than theirs, and we will see an unmolested and authentic classic game next summer.
No hybrids were actively avoided at all levels of play outside of healing.
You and I played a different game then.
I remember pally tanks, feral dps, shadow priests in plenty of dungeons.
Even ret pally’s when my guild raided (20 man).
It’s plenty obvious that you despise vanilla because of hybrids.
So then don’t play it. Wait for wotlk which had dual specs.

Since this has always been a role based game, you bring a rogue because they can do the dps needed for the role.
You aren’t worries about fair competition, you are worried about any competition.
And when you look at class representation now, if classes that can be viable in more than one role have a higher representation so what? That makes sense as not all of them are doing all the roles.
Do you really think druids have an even 1/4 distribution between resto/balance/feral/guardian? And if they did that 1/4 distribution would be still be less than whatever percent you are claiming rogues have now.
I don’t see the rogue monopoly on melee dps as having suffered greatly at all. It’s just has some competition.

Actually Monks, Shaman, and Death Knights are the least played classes at 120 right now.
Also, what’s the problem if Priest, Paladin, Shaman, and Druid in Vanilla are considered healers? Why exactly do they need to also be DPS or tanks?
The only argument I’ve heard is “But nobody will play them!” which A. We’ve seen from private servers that is not true, and B. It’s expected that a lower percentage of players will be healers because DPS is the favoured role of the game.
These are Current WoW players who want that experience (to one degree or another) translated into Classic because they’re getting offered that game for free.
The cynical part of me thinks Brack new very well this would happen with their chosen payment plan (lack thereof for existing subs)
I am worried about rogues having representation. Which won’t happen with wrath balance.
You say rogues bring dps well in this situation the Druid brings DPS and innervate and a brez.
Creating a state of the game that never existed in vanilla is a change, and at that point it’s not a case of change vs no change it’s just a debate about what changes we want.
Seeing as you are a player with a history of Wall of No, then your opinion on what should or should not be in classic is worthless.
Don’t act like you can speak for anyone here. BC was MUCH MUCH better than classic.
Irony meter just asploded. What’s going on here?
Holy foshizzle Gnocci
I have read your posts for the past week. A few you started yourself, but mostly snark comments to others. It reminds me of something I walked by two days ago.
I was walking past a house and it smelled so bad as I walked by. I was like “what the…”…even my dog started to act squirrely.
Then I saw it. The front lawn was bubbled over with crap. Literally, crap. Turns out the sewer pipe bursted in their front lawn. Those poor people.
You don’t remind me of the smell but rather of what bubbled up in the front lawn. You don’t forward any conversation. Even when you defend classic, you end up making the rest of your cohort just look bad lol. You bring every thread down to poop level. Hope you are getting what you need by being a forum poop vendor.
The answer is simple: I am tired of you, Zyrius, Whiskee and your ilk at this point. I am happy to have an adult conversation with those who are actually here to do so, and not those simply low-speed trolling over rehashed subjects as you folks do. Blizzard clearly has no desire to keep your type from doing what you do, and hell we cannot even put you people on ignore anymore so they have doubled down on the problem.
YOU are the disease, I am admittedly a symptom of it.
In fairness, you are also ignoring that rogue and lock class design changed significantly by Wotlk, and I’d argue that it was certainly not for better.
I actually stopped playing both of those classes myself during that time period, only picking the rogue up in Cata because my guild didn’t have a single agility dps so I’d get legendary daggers on it (and if the damn thing ever would have dropped, a vial of shadows).
Meanwhile my warlock sat stagnant until mops redesign for them.
Evolving class design can be a major factor in class population.
Apparently saying that the kind of people who ask for changes are different from the sort of people who want classic is “offensive” to the community and gets your post flagged and removed.
The more you learn.
Seeing as you are a player with a history of Wall of No
He posted it once in response to someone asking for Blizzards stance, thats exactly as many times as some people in this very forum have done that you would consider ‘pro-classic’
Hybrids have always been viable in all of their trees
Hybrids have always been viable in all of their trees
Yep since wotlk.
No, since vanilla
No, since vanilla
as healers.
