Boycott ... Warmode?

No, I don’t want it. I want nobody to have gear from WPVP.

There shouldn’t even be an incentive.

If only there were some way to control what comes out of your mouth…

This ridiculous " mistaken reward" has created more unbalance not fixed it. I wonder if the devs even play anymore? Both factions? I play often being retired and notice too much. I don’t have the latency or skill to be consistent in arena but its fun, like battlegrounds too but you can only do those so much. That whole eight conquest after the first win is not inspiring. The idea of WPVP seemed fun and a challenge. Have had WM on since it began. Its sad to see a group of ten+ alliance camping a CoA WQ (in Voldun) for over three hours solid. (Last night) Each person zoning in would need to basically make/join several small groups in order to complete the quest. This resulted in even larger numbers of alliance coming in. Heaven forbid someone complete a quest! How dare they! Alliance must want that 400 IL gear really bad. I suppose the Horde would too if we were offered it but I don’t know any horde that would bother to camp a WQ for three hours. It tells me there are tons of lazy people out there. I’ve only played Horde for about ten years so maybe I am too new at this to say. I completed that stupid Champion of Azeroth achieve for the mount on a Disc Priest mostly playing solo except for the looting of the bounties which really requires grouping. It never occurred to me you could cheat this achieve until someone suggested I did. Feels like a waste of time now as does most of WM. I thought it was super fun before. I didn’t require a group of 40 to have fun with it. Most of the time not even a group of five. I’ve continued to play in WM this week out of stubbornness mostly. More immature or inexperienced players I can empathize with their frustration at the climate of the game in WM in general this week. Its not fun, its not fair and its not encouraging play for EVERYONE. I cannot imagine trying to level with WM on this week. Not a big fan of feeding the alliance kill score machine for their crybaby, low pop, whatever you want to call it, gear. Just fix the sharding and make it even reward for even effort. Wow, its not rocket science. The only saving grace I suppose is people are becoming more crafty about how to go about getting their objectives completed in the current state of WM. But is it fun now? Not really but I’m trying to keep it fun. Certainly is a challenge. I’ll continue to play but will pay with in game gold. Not another subscription penny from me until its sorted out. Probably a futile gesture but its the point I can actually make successfully.

Which would be fine, if the shards had dynamic faction balancing but they don’t. WM was a horrible replacement for PvP servers and now they are doing what they can to try and save this failed idea.

You are correct. There is no winning with these bonuses. So shift the way you think about it. Play WM because you like the thrill. Play it because you enjoy WPvP

Sure. The 10% bonus is nice but that is not why I have it on. I have it on because I enjoy the fight. I have ganked, rarely camped as I find it boring, I have won 2v1 I have been destroyed 1v1, and I have been ganked. A lot.

WM is still on though. If you look at it like that, it is far more enjoyable.

Not only should there have never been incentives but they should have added some wpvp objectives or a whole zone dedicated to wpvp.
This was meant for PvPer’s but they gave PvE incentives.
What could go wrong?
It’s one more reason I think this was an “econo expansion”.
So many missed opportunities.

Handing out bonus gear is a huge mistake, unless you give it to both factions and therefore encourage both sides to turn warmode on and keep it on.

Don’t tell me a weekly piece of 400/385 gear isn’t a big deal. It is a big deal, especially when everyone is paying the same $15 a month and only half of your paying customers are having access to that bonus reward.

How is giving one side a massive incentive fixing those server problems?

Sounds like a Saurfang move…COWard.

You do understand that in season 1 the quest was giving out heroic raid caliber gear for over a month and no one cared. Because everyone was swimming in 370 gear. No one is going to give a damn about 385 gear now, we just got a 385 emissary quest weapon the other night.

Hell in less than a month no one would have even given a damn about 400 ilvl gear. It was only a issue now because it is the start of season 2 and the Horde some how think it will throw off “world firsts”.

Woah, I think I’ve seen this exact statement somewhere before a few months ago…hmmm. Anyway if a lot more alliance than horde had warmode on over the course of a week, then horde would get it. I don’t ever see that happening, but yes, it could happen. It’s also not based on players per server, but per region.

Edit:

It is…right now. It won’t be in a few weeks. The quest gave 370 (heroic uldir) loot last season. I never did it then, as it wouldn’t have been an upgrade. I probably won’t do it when they lower it to 385 ilvl, as it won’t be an upgrade for me even now. And if/when they change it back to 400 later in the season I probably won’t do it then because by then it won’t even be an upgrade anymore. It’s meant to be an incentive to turn on warmode and kill enemy players, but if it doesn’t give incentive it fails at its only purpose. I would be all for them changing it from gear to say 8000 or 10000 ap, but horde would probably still cry about it. Plus even that would stop being an incentive as people hit that 50 cap.

Yes until all the horde initialized warmode again which would then cause it to switch back. You would essentially have the buff for a day or a couple of hours (depending on how it functions).

Coward? Says the Alliance who won’t engage in 1v1 combat.

Its done on a weekly basis i believe.

Rofl what? The first 5+ months was nothing but horde raids hunting alliance in wm.

I already covered that with.

NO! No no no no no. I never said spend money on faction transfers. I said play Alliance. And with the boost it’s now as easy as ever. Until you get your lowbie behind farmed and then turn it off.

I don’t really understand how people are suggesting ‘fixing’ sharding would resolve an imbalance in faction participation. Either you place equal ratios of A:H in each shard (doesn’t balance anything), or you place excess players in the dominant faction into empty shards, but that just sounds bad and jarring(?) Roll the dice, are we playing chess or candy crush at the other end of this loading screen?

I think the current problem (though it’s probably an exaggeration to call it one given previous states) is a nuanced one. Despite – as far as we know – higher populations of horde region-wide, horde generally go out into the world to do quests and incidentally PvP (read: solo).

Meanwhile, we go out into the world to kill you. Often 25 of you, so yeah, we’re going to grab a few buds. That means that even if a shard might have 60 horde players and 40 alliance players, our 8 groups of 5 hunters are likely to steamroll your 60 groups of 1 quester.

Note these specific points are: nothing to do with raids of alliance (who aren’t getting any rewards), extended griefing sessions, or even the 30%.

To paraphrase Ion, you have become too numerous, and you must be culled.

Not sure if you’re intentionally being dense or what, but if you provide 1 faction with an incentive to kill and there’s no reason for the other faction to kill, then what is the point in even turning PvP on?

The answer is not “just don’t die”, the answer is “just don’t participate”.
