And I’m speaking to you.
I never claimed YOU didn’t read it…
There is no nuance here. YOU bought the wrong thing, didn’t even bother to take the .5 second to ctrl-click to see if it was the right one. Then you put in a ticket after equipping/transmogging. You got told no, they are not helping you for your own mistake, and decided to come here to complain about it, and then blame literally everything else but your own ineptitude, and then proceed to insult and drag this all out. There is no nuance. There is only a tantrum.
That is not a service Blizzard offers and never has. They never will. If you wish to see a change to the game so that it is easier to verify an appearance before making an AH purchase, you can feel free to suggest it.
Blizzard intentionally leaves some choices up to the players - and the consequences of those choices are ours too. That may mean picking a quest reward, selecting an item at a vendor, or purchasing something at the AH.
GMs do not get involved in ANY of those. The player needs to use the tools in the game to preview items for transmog, to check resources before selecting a quest reward, etc. For vendor items with a buyback - players have 2 hours to do that - if they don’t equip the item or modify it.
There are warnings you have to agree to before you make the AH item you bought soulbound. The GMs don’t assist.
Snack time. This is not helpful.
The only option here is for the OP to file a suggestion if they want changes to the AH system to make it harder to mistakenly buy the wrong item. This is not the place for the suggestion as they have been told.
They cannot and will not give you an item you haven’t earned. That’s not something that has ever been done for any reason. Because it wouldn’t be fair to everyone else.
I know this has been covered, but let me go into a bit of detail for you so that this doesn’t happen to you again.
There are different ilevels of the gear, which give different appearance colors. You need to click on the piece you want and then view the actual listing for that specific one. Not just the main AH page. I’ve done similar.
These are off-set tier pieces. You know how tier works with different colors for different levels of the raid, yes? They have the same name, different item levels, different colorations.
Here’s a breakdown of how to look at this stuff on the AH. I’m using the Felflame shoulders as an example. These are a Legion pair of off-set shoulders from a raid.
So when you search for them, you’ll see the listing in the armor > shoulder section like I did. This will not show you the appearance you would buy, but it does show you that there are different item levels. (You’re going to see checkmarks and Xs next to things in my listing, because I’m using “Can I Mog It” addon.)
So what you want to do is click on one of them to bring up the listing for that specific one at that specific item level. Then ctrl+click to view it in the dressing room to see if it’s the correct coloration you want.
This is the ilevel 251 version of the Felflame shoulders:
And this is the ilevel 247 version of the Felflame shoulders:
You need to check the item level of the listing, because that means it’s from a different version of the raid. The 247 ilevel of those shoulders is Antorus Normal. The 251 ilevel of those shoulder is Antorus Mythic.
So that’s how that works for future reference.
As for an exchange or refund…
There is no way for a GM to refund you, as that gold already went to someone else once you bought the piece. And there is no way to exchange, because that person sold that particular piece.
What you’re asking for is a way to do an exchange with an item purchased from another player. Which isn’t possible.
Good luck and if there’s a next time, hopefully this will help.
to my knowledge gms have NEVER been able to refund ah purchases.
Do your self a favor and own your mistakes. Next time triple check first. Not blizards responsibly to fix your mistakes.
Yea, i remember buying what i thought was the “mythic” version of a belt for tmog, but it was the heroic…Same name, different mog. Just the way it is, they wont refund. i’m out 20k but nothing they can do lol ![]()
In addition to this, look at those prices for the four items that Sendryn circled. Imagine the chaos if Blizzard did these types of exchanges. “Hey Blizzard. I ‘accidentally’ purchased the 247 version (for 33k) when I meant the 245 version (for 175k). Can’t you just exchange the two? No big deal, right?”
Except you got away with saving 142k by “accidentally” selecting the cheapest one. I’m not saying that your intention here, but if this was a service they offered, it would be chaos to try and sell different level of items. Blizzard would essentially be interfering in the free market and artificially setting a price for an item.
For the future, just make sure that shift click an item to view it before purchasing it.
It only takes a few seconds to confirm the appearance of an item.
This way you know exactly what you are purchasing.
