That’s a possibility with a first response, yes. An automated sweep triggered by keywords that preemptively determine if it’s something a game master won’t be able to help with, so it redirects you to other resources that may have a better chance, especially when the ticket queue is lengthy. Loot disputes are usually always going to be a thing that triggers that response.
It should say at the bottom of that response to reopen the ticket if none of the recommendations help your case.
A GM’s response will always have some personal flair to it and explicitly state the GM’s name, as long as it isn’t an appeal ticket response.
So it’s everyone else’s fault, then? Even after buying the item, you still had the opportunity to double-check yourself before making it soulbound. Even if you ignore the multiple color variants under a single name issue - Blizzard still would have been hands off as soon as you blindly equipped the item. From a vendor, from the AH - none of that matters in the gist of them still being 100% hands off as soon as you equipped the item, as in your own words:
It’s a harsh lesson to be learned, to be sure. But their safeguards were in place. Yours was just a case of clicking through the confirmations blindly without double checking yourself along the way. I am sorry you’re in this place, but there isn’t anything that can be done, save for submitting your feedback in the appropriate place.
This isn’t a store though. They do have a tool for that, the refund timer. This is the AH, buying an item from another player at auction. There isn’t any way that provides for them to refund that, and certainly not to give you a different item than you purchased. That’s all that we can say here, that you’ve reached something where there is not an option that will replace nor refund the item, nor can you sell it on the AH now that it is soulbound. I’m sorry that isn’t the answer that you want, but no amount of feedback here will help you. You should take such feedback to GD or the transmog forum.
Like seriously, does anyone here really care if you’re going to quit the game because you chose to not use the already available tools within the game and chose to blame Blizzard for not using those tools.
There is a reason why these policies exist at Blizzard. If you want the game to break, where things will end up being a lot worse, then this is what will happen. It isn’t Customer Support who set these policies, it is the development. If you wish to provide feedback or suggestions on more ideas for tools to make it easier when trying to purchase transmog from the Auction house, then you’ll need to go over to the Transmogrification sub-forums or via in-game feedback tool.
Customer Support will not bypass any restrictions set by the development, and these restrictions are in place so the game does not become unplayable or things become game breaking.
In that case, I wish you luck moving forwards. If you cancel your subscription I believe that they have a place to provide feedback as to why, you should put what you wrote there so it reaches someone.
It is not Blizzard’s problem that you didn’t pay attention to what you bought on the auction house. That is solely on the player. You now get to live with that choice, as it is not theirs, or our responsibility for what you bought there. At all. Under any circumstance. IRL you don’t even get to just return things to an auction because “Whoops, I totally didn’t actually want the thing.”
No, you didn’t pay attention. That is the risk of the AH. Next time use CTRL-click to see what something looks like, if you are after t-mog. This is a you problem through and through, and under no circumstances is this Blizzard’s problem. There is NOTHING anyone here, or anywhere, can do to solve this. Bringing it here will do nothing for you. This has been a thing since the inception of the AH in the very beginning. Pay attention to what you buy.
No that is buyer remorse, as you realised after equipping it that it didn’t have the effects you were after. Sorry but you should have gone to wowhead or something and checked what you were after.
You didn’t check the appearance before equipping the item. That’s an expensive lesson, but it is a lesson nevertheless. As for identical names, that’s been a constant for many expansions, there’s over a dozen sets in TWW with the same name in 4 colors just from raiding.
Ok, so rather than going in circles here lets focus on what you feel is the source of the problem.
You understand the AH policy is that GMs can not refund or exchange items. AH purchases are final.
You understand now that there are tools to help you preview the transmog before buying.
You understand now that there are tools to help you preview the transmog in your bags before equipping when it becomes soulbound - you can always sell it as long as you don’t equip it or modify it. So even if it was the wrong purchase, you could have resold it if you had not equipped it.
I think you understand that this has always been the case. There was never anything a GM could do to help in this situation.
What is LEFT is to make a suggestion to ensure that items with different color tints have some sort of indicator on them to prevent mistakes.
WE ARE HERE:
To make a suggestion that the naming system, or item appearance system be easier to view on the AH you would do that using the in-game suggestion tool, or by posting on the Discussion forums. Transmog, or General Discussion. This won’t help in this specific case, but may prevent mistakes in the future if the Devs do make AH interface changes.
