This thread is making me feel oddly alone. I love leveling in Classic, I don’t want to skip it and it feel disingenuous to me in regards to the core experience of Classic to allow people to skip it.
Why do so many people want to skip such a major part of the game?
Love how blizzard sold this as a great way for people to come back and play with their friends. Sure, that will happen, but I’d rather they be honest and acknowledge the VAST majority of those sales will be people just boosting an alt, especially for crafting since that will be a huge part of early TBC progression. They are so evil with how clever they spin things, guess that’s why the continue to make record profit despite not putting out much new.
Hey Tanba (from Felstriker horde, that’s one move to feel oddly alone). A lot of us do enjoy levelling, we’re just indifferent to people who don’t. I have 2 max level priests in classic, and had 19 max level priest in MoP (when I was younger, healthier and uh, playing a lot more video games). I just don’t mind a one time boost for people who wish to play TBC, but not Vanilla. They already lose out with progression servers and not separate entities, so I really don’t mind them having access to the content they’ve waited for.
This won’t even affect people boosting 58-70 either. It’s just more $$ for Blizzard in the end and they don’t give two rat’s asses about classic as long as people keep that subscription going.
What exactly does 1-60 teach you? When someone replaces their boost gear, how will you know if they boosted their char instead of doing the 1-58 grind? If leveling mattered, the boosting meta wouldn’t exist.
I personally enjoyed leveling 1-60 in classic. The boost matters to me literally 0%. People being my level increases available dungeon groups so hopefully I can avoid the inevitable overpopulation of hfp come release.
If you can’t level 1-58 with a 30% xp boost (patch 2.4.3) and mounts at level 30 then you probably won’t play tbc for long anyway. This is just a cash grab from blizzard to the detriment of the game’s integrity.
when next fresh? no boost, just when…next…creme fraiche. We want the Russian style heroic sp where we skeep! it fast! we skeep skeep skeep. need deeeeh 6k++ gs. fast run!!! quick fast!! need Tang & eel. Healar you heal!!!
Boosts will bring players back.
When competing against private servers
you do what private servers offer.
If Blizzard did not offer boost, players from private servers will not sub.
Those players just want to play TBC expansion 58 - 70.
Wait until players find out professions do not boost with you.
All professions will still start at level one.
Just like the DK’s when they first came out.
Most players will by the mats.
You only have bank and bag slots to bring with you.
Not enough to level professions.
I’m with the drama queen. Personally, I don’t think boosts should exist at all, and XP bonuses are designed to ruin my fun by leveling me up too fast and making me feel like I’m skipping content. Especially in retail.
I don’t care about the classic must be “pure” crap though. I would have loved to go through classic as a void elf or vulpera.
I started WoW in patch 2.4, Fury of the Sunwell. I’m looking forward to returning to it. I’m especially looking forward to the Guild Bank and Achievement systems.
I will never use a boost and I try to avoid XP bonuses, heirlooms, and rested experience like the plague. Other people using them are none of my concern.
That’s a lot of assuming there mate, and you know what they say about people who assume. But in regards to “ level it to MAYBE 70, try a dungeon or two,…” bit I’d say you are partially correct. I’m sure there are going to be quite a few people drop out after the major hype train leaves the station. And that’s fine , it is something we gamers have come to expect not just with classic but with any game really. There is the initial launch which has the largest crowd and then drop offs start happening shortly after initial Content is completed. Then there is an increase in population when new content is released. And then the tall tale signs of a decrease when that patches content is cleared. In the end it’s very common to see a decrease in population after certain extent of time to say that it doesn’t happen is to ignore the obvious. But in regards of new players coming to TBC from retail I’m just happy to see them give the game a try.
Personally I have in real life friends have never played World of Warcraft before but because of the stories told by players who have been around since the beginning and talking about the amazing features in the burning crusade my friends who don’t play World of Warcraft want to try TBC classic. So in a way it is a nice gesture from blizzard entertainment to offer and included one time one per account level 58 boost so new players who didn’t play classic can at least get their foot in the door and be able to play with their friends who were around in classic without having to pull them to older content . And who knows once they get to 70 they may decide to create another character as most people do and then they’ll have to go through the wild classic vanilla leveling experience just like everyone else.
I would be mad except it seems like more people boosted there characters at one point. Something they should add to the boost is having a character leveled first. This way its more of a reward for people that did that and keeps the bots out of the game.
All you all are doing now is boosting through dungeons and perpetuating gold farmers anyway. Can’t even find dungeon groups these days, it’s all “SM BOOST 10g, MARA BOOST 15g, ZG BOOST 20g” etc.
This way, it’s quicker and blizzard gets the cash, not gold farmers. So y’all whining can stop playing, no one will care.
With your asinine logic let’s just have the WoW token added to Classic so people can buy their gold directly from Blizzard.
People hated how mage boosting killed the leveling experience and they hate gold buyers. Just because Blizzard refuses to change anything or take any action doesn’t mean the community should just accept Blizzard cashing in on it instead.
Your attitude is what lets Blizzard get away with anything they want. In other games if a boosting meta became rampant they’d change it so it can no longer be done. Because they’re not idiots that automatically assume people abusing something means it needs to be added to the game. “Players will optimize the fun out of game” is a statement said by someone who knows more about game development than you.
Seriously hate all these shortsighted people trying to enable Blizzard to just be lazy and cash in on their laziness.
