Boosting is out of control

Plenty of aspects about the game I do still enjoy, friends still play they just aren’t interested in dealing with Blizzard’s crazy and boring systems.

Yeah, I know people who’ve been doing things wrong for decades. If you practice something wrong a million times, you just become an expert at doing it wrong. Practice doesn’t make perfect, perfect practice makes perfect.

You are only worth your weight in provable experience. Ever have a real job before? Yeah… They need references and proof that you know what you’re doing. It’s pretty hard to lie your way into jobs now saying stuff like “Oh yeah… I definitely know how to drive a forklift. I have 15 years of experience doing that, but I just can’t dig it up right now to prove to you!”

During current content, nobody cares about your experience from two raid tiers ago or three expansions ago. That’s not the current “job” at hand.

But go ahead and keep deflecting over and over again.

This is in fact a video game though and the problem is that I am not doing anything wrong really. It is the headache of having to log in and not just be able to say be the ret paladin. No, I have to look up 10 guides, which covenant do I have to use, which soul binds, conduits, do I need to craft a new legendary, flasks, pots, enchants, gems etc. It’s a huge check list and it is deterring and very not fun. This is not a skill or experience issue. It is literally flawed game design on Blizzard’s end at the minimum if you really want me to stop saying the word gatekeeper.

Is it because you’re getting declined due to being 212 ilvl?

I do not use this character for end-game content, I leveled him purely for Kyrian cosmetics originally. This is my forum posting character mainly.

So what’s your main then? I’m offering my help

Fine, you aren’t a gatekeeper then. My mains a sub rogue. But I pretty much gave up on the idea of doing anything, it is 252 ilvl but that’s Zereth Mortis gear.

Most sub rogues are running Venthyr

Yep, he has been Venthyr the entire expansion.

Then don’t and join a casual guild. Just don’t be a baby when you wipe to bosses 30 times on normal.

Theorycrafting, in WoW, has been around since vanilla, get over it. I’m sorry that it’s too hard on your brain to do simple research. Any online game that has a competitive aspect to it, is going to contain theorycrafting, guides, FOTM builds, etc etc. You don’t need to follow everything to an exact T. Pretty much any stat combo, talent combo, legendary combo, etc, will clear all bosses in normal, heroic and +15s timed.

Moral of the story: This is a YOU problem.

It is not actually a me problem and part of WoWs current issues is because they have designed the game to be vastly too competitive and not actually accessible or the important part here: fun.

9.2 Basics guide.

Sub guide.

Anything and everything you will need to know.

I have seen the guides and skimmed through most of them, part of the problem is that it’s generally just a lot of information to absorb in some cases. But thank you.

I’ll go ahead and put it here but I will apologize to the people I interacted within the thread.

I do still think in some cases some of the community does in fact gatekeep, maybe not everyone but I wasn’t trying to imply that. My main problems are the insane amounts of information people are basically required to know, some of it genuinely is too much and it genuinely is a huge deterrent, I just think it should be kept in mind. The game should be for everyone but since SL and to an extent, BFA, it just hasn’t felt accessible to me and a lot of people I know. The game just feels better when you can log in and be ret pally, sub rogue, etc and not have to think about covenants, soul binds, conduit placements, azerite armor, corruptions, essences, etc. I just want the game to return to a time without so many goofy systems, that is when it is the most fun.

But I apologize anyways. Probably gonna get forum banned anyway

I don’t think boosting is out of control, but I do think that it’s really strange that a good chunk of this community has just seemingly accepted that Blizzard lets you spend your money on gold.

And yeah, I get it. “Gold selling and boosting existed before the WoW token”, but the fact of the matter is that we don’t know the extent in which those services were utilized, so it feels disingenuous to say that. They are also bannable offenses, whereas a token is not. The only reason why I say that is because people are less inclined to utilize a service when there are consequences for doing so. In retail, it’s literally on the Blizzard store.

Agree on hundred percent

ban all forms of boosting which involve gold

make these so-called “hardcore” wow players play the game and grind gold

hey blizzard theres an idea to increase player engagement xD

Exactly. We shouldn’t have BUSINESSES that offer carrying services. A simple google search brings up several that have to pay taxes on the amount of money they make from WoW boosting.

lets see how many of these “elites” actually play the game and grind gold like players or play the AH if blizzard decides to ban boosting for gold

You’d be wrong there too, if you’re advertising and enough people on the server don’t like the advertisements they will stand by a squelch. Look no further than the Customer Service forum for that one, plenty of old blue posts about that one. People also seem to forget ‘spamming’ rules is also decided by the server IE how many people decide they don’t like you posting an AD at certain frequencies. No, the channel preventing you from sending any more messages isn’t the ‘limit’ of what you’re allowed to do.

I hope they do away with it completely next expansion, along with split runs and some other stuff like GDKP. Would make for better gameplay, honestly.

Blizzard may have helped a little, but lets be real. Social media platforms and the change in people and how they communicate/act online did that more than Blizzard ever could. See: Classic.

It’s always someone getting carried by guildies saying that, lmao. You acting like you could ‘carry’ anything is funny enough.

Yeah, the community gatekeeps a lot. “No application unless AOTC” “No X servers allowed” “RIO score X required” essentially you always have to have higher scores than the content you’re trying to do and generally, higher ilvl especially as DPS when pugging. Pugging was far, far easier pre-wrath, and even in wrath with ‘gearscore’ was still far, far better than it is today.

Ofc, the people that say “Make your own group” Generally don’t know what they’re talking about either, and uusually will only do so as a healer/tank or for a very sought after key.

To be quite honest, the people that think group content should always have the best gear are the one’s that want handouts. If they actually had to work at it, as solo players they couldn’t get those carries is why. ;3
