Blue eyes on blood elves, adieu WoW

I don’t think so but according to a very exciting scene in GoT I know that you can do some very interesting things with it.

yeah. the fever is peaking before it finally breaks. just let it run its course and enjoy the validation we were always right. its finally over, they can no longer deny the lore that the blood elves are the high elves and left the alliance as a people

I don’t get it, Blood Elves are the same with blue eyes. Big deal.

You’d never get that back. You played the content. And there’s been a significant time since you spent that money. I tried to do that with Monster Hunter World, because I hated the controls. But I had it 3 weeks before I got around to playing it. There are chargeback protections because of abuse.

Just don’t resub and play if it makes you that upset. Take a break and time to cool off.

The people begging for your gold don’t realize that they have to be on your server for it. Like me.

Why? This is an alpha build we don’t even know if this will go live and if Void Elves are not getting an update as well. Wait. We may have smexy void elves with white skin.

i’m sad to see you go, but i understand my dude. also a lot of the antis have been rubbing salt in the wound since it was data mined. if i was someone who wanted helves myself i’d probably just play classic and forget retail completely. so i get it.

I thought the Alliance loved Void Elves? Anytime I would point out how High Elves would of worked fine Void Elf players are quick to point out having tentacles and blue skin somehow makes it better because High Elves and Void Elves look different…then they do /tentacleflip

If you all want High Elves so bad pay blizzard 20 bucks to race change from Void Elf to start a protest…I’m sure they would love it

Not all Void Elves have tentacles, and if they provide white skin tones to Void Elves and more hair color options we have High Elves. I don’t care if you call a Sin’dorei a High Elf or a Ren’dorei. They all are High Elves originally. Some have different skin tones and eye colors. That’s nice. People need to be less upset about this alpha build and accept we have High Elves in both factions. Just by different names.

I can’t imagine caring this much about something like this.

Fare well.

So am I. It was getting pretty annoying having people constantly asking for high elves on the forums. Hopefully this should put a stop to it.

Even for people who think they’re the same race, it’s irrelevant. The bottom line is many people wanted a particular alliance race and despite there being multiple different ways to make those players happy, Blizzard has deliberately gone out of their way to do the opposite. It’s a bit ridiculous.

It’s also ridiculous to me that so many players seem to rejoice when others are unhappy. But that’s the state of the game now, I guess.

That’s probably true.

Void Elves are nothing like High Elves. The lore behind them doesn’t even make sense. You’re not just Elves drinking in Void Magic! Void Elves were created by a Void Being and crazy Ethereal who’s spell backfired. The only void Elves in existence should be the few followers Umbric had who were present during that event.

Apparently though there were more then enough Elves present there to make an Allied Race but not enough for High Elves/Silver Covenant? Blizzard screwed the pooch when the created Void Elves and their lore.

These are mined textures slapped on models aren’t they? I remember hearing the miner had trouble too.

Just because a texture exists and a model exists doesn’t mean that combo will make it into the live game.

…I’m a hunter, trust me.

But again, we’ve been recruiting and apparently are able to replicate that spell with High Elves and Blood Elves who come to the Telogrus Rift. It appears that thousands must of been present since we have fielded several armies thru the course of this expansion. I don’t get it, but apparently lorewise thousands went Void and here we are.

Imagine quitting over an eye color.

Hoping I don’t get jumped on for this, but someone is going to have to explain to me about the eye color thing because I genuinely don’t understand. Only high elves have blue eyes? Their eyes all turned green? Where does gold fit in? I don’t know this lore and am confused what the hubub is about blue. Can someone fill me in on what I missed?

(I should know because my blood elves’ eyes will be staying green even if I have options… because  GREEN. Am I unknowingly making a statement of some kind?)

Keeping in mind this is a very simplified summary, others can go into greater detail if they wish.

But the gist is elf eye color is representative of the type of energy they draw from, and high elves traditionally had blue eyes because their source of energy was arcane power.

After Arthas and the Scourge destroyed (sort of, there’s more to it) the Sunwell, their arcane source was gone, and the current blood elves changed their name from high elves to blood elves in honor of their fallen, while some split off for various reasons.

The newly name changed blood elves turned to different sources of power, one of which was fel energy (not all blood elves did this, hence what was said that lorewise not every blood elves eyes should be green), and wow introduced them with their green eyes.

In wow after the sunwell raid (I believe that was the one) the Sunwell was restored and imbued with holy energy, so it was a source of both Holy and Arcane energy, and so Blood Elves could then have gold eyes indicating the source of power for them is the Holy energy.

It was said by the developers multiple times that Blood Elves are high elves, since plain and simple they are high elves, their race didn’t change, just their name, and that their eyes would eventually revert back to the natural blue when the old energy essentially left their system, which appears (may) be happening now with the datamined bits.

The calls for High Elves, particularly alliance ones, could more accurately be summoned up as the call for Silver Covenant, or specific faction high elves, and those who wish for that are upset that the returning of the high elves that named themselves blood elves eyes to their natural blue, is a sign that there won’t be the alliance leaning factional high elves coming for them.

Again this is a very shortened/simplified summary of everything

Cya,… in Shadowlands I guess.

It must be difficult to see from where you are, and I am envious of that to no end.

But I think its much more than “they didn’t add something I want”.

Having played for all those years, a person comes to know that a certain amount of animosity exists there, a certain amount of ugly obdurance in the development, and no amount of subscription money, no amount of xpac money, no amount of mount store money will ameliorate that disdain.

Eventually the contempt becomes unavoidable, one can no longer look past it, one can no longer pretend it doesn’t exist. Some ugly event occurs, some ruthless act that becomes the kind of confirmation that doesn’t go away.

And from that point on you cannot continue to imagine that you matter.

Yes, yes, “none of us matter…business…money…what they want” all fine and well.

If it is indeed a true thing then the devs have indeed stamped out years of hope and they will continue to do so. It will not end with crushing decades of hopefuls. Other dreams will certainly fall in petulant flames and maybe some people don’t want to be around for that.

You think toxicity lives in a particular segment of the community, but I think the community is just a reflection of the administration. Perhaps you will be glad to see that corner of the mirror gone. But the nasty reflection will remain.

If you cannot see it from where you are, then I am very pleased for you.

I wish I could have stopped in that place.

Especially now.

I wish it very much.
