Honestly, yeah. I agree. I miss being the most terrifying kind of monster – the one that looks pretty, does absolutely abhorrent things, and walks around like nothing’s wrong.
I’m not really keen on this thread’s premise but… I too miss the days when the Blood Elves weren’t being indoctrinated into the light.
While not all may pray to it all have been preyed upon by it.
The Sunwell which Blood Elves are physically addicted to is now forcefully infusing them with the light thanks to Velen.
Now all elves regardless of their desires are forced to harbor the light and their children will be forced too as well. Worship/Harboring of cosmic forces should be a choice. Blood Elves don’t have a choice they can only chose the degree of their devotion and future generations will have even less as they are indoctrinated at conception.
It’s all too bloody late now but the Sunwell shouldn’t have been restored and when it was it should have been restored as it had been… instead we have the modern cinematic that push’s the holy aspects of the Blood Elves and their Sunwell.
This so much.
The Horde was the Monster Race faction.
Blood elves were a " monster" reminiscent of vampires, looking appealing but not actually being.
Light and mana mixture. And High Elves get pilgrimmage to it as well. But they’ve seemed to partition out parts of the well. Because not all Belves get light eyes.
No I’m fine with it being restored.
They should do San’layn appearances as well.
The blood elves were already a monster race, now they’re not.
They say the sunwell is arcane/ light mixed but we don’t see arcane knights or arcane priestesses walking around.
Blood elves are no longer who they are they’ve been indoctrinate by the Light and the more writing they get the worse the hole is dug.
You don’t see the blood elves kicking out fel practitioners because the arcane in the sunwell is a lie.
We weren’t really monsters, lol.
You see mages and we still use arcane torrent.
There are still Blood Elves with fel eyes. The “fel practitioners” were the Felblood. We were just passively exposed to fel.
And there are Blood Elves that siphon blood.
We killed them all in TBC.
Regarding Darnuser… yeah because I’m going to listen to someone who believes that all lore is propaganda, and nothing is true.
This we can agree on.
I dunno, chaining up a literal deity and drinking its juices and using it to embolden government officials who then mind controlled people / regular civilians into not questioning literal atrocities against a faith seems kinda monstrous.
Well regardless, he is narrative lead for the game.
It’s a Sunday. And most of that was for survival, not out of malice. I think people just want them to have edge. Which is fine. They need to focus on that for any future narrative. But they haven’t had much narrative for Belves in recent years that wasn’t just going over what happened in WC3 again.
What official posts would there be to quote from? It’s an opinion. I agree with them, but at the end of the day, it’s an opinion. Look at how they were in Warcraft 3. Broken. Beaten. Willing to do anything to survive.
I remember how dissapointed this was when they released em as playable. Favorite race in the rts.
Yep. Literally has them appear to care about the mana worm like a Night Elf would, then kill it for power lmao
They became the Barbie and Ken, made for xmogging and outfits, that we all joked they were…
So basically any elf with a superiority complex?
“Blood elves were cooler back in the day”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
*deep breath*
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
This laughing only makes sense if modern blood elves weren’t entirely worse than launch blood elves.
A contractor friend of mine who worked on a WoW project with Blizzard during BC explained Blood Elf Paladins to me as follows, at the time:
“Traditional Paladins believe in serving The Light. Blood Elf Paladins believe The Light should serve them.”
Which was certainly different. Sadly, that expired at the end of TBC when frickin Velen strolled into Sunwell like he owned the place and (inexplicably) wasn’t killed.
Man did i almost read that wrong LOL!
The sinister blood elves went off to Outland and we shanked them all. The thing with being untrustworthy and betraying your allies is eventually they get sick of it!
They have blood golems that they’ve used in a few places - Talador in WoD, Nazmir in BfA (which is maybe not the best place to be toying with blood magic but what’s the worst that could happen?). But it’s not a superweapon or anything. I mean, 25 random adventurers were able to dunk on the original.
I’ve been playing Blood Elves since Cataclysm. That included going through the earlier expansions to level up. Haven’t notice a change.
