I went over the guidelines and CoC and I see nothing that pertains to this thread. The CoC and guidelines are not “exhaustive”, but I cant find a single thing.
imagine asking for an option already available and STILL pretending ‘high’ elves arent playable
in fact i am posting on what this person is asking for
their request is equally as asinine as saying “hey blizzard can stormwind humans get defias human customization. then the defias human fantasy will be fulfilled”
why would we need this if the option to play an actual void elf already exists and vice versa…
As a long time High Elf fan and someone who has been in numerous threads about them over the years i feel as though it would be bad for the game to give Void Elves the High Elf colored hair.
First, i think something is lost in the game and the racial identities of both the High Elves and the Void Elves if there is no reflection of the idea of becoming a Void elf in the first place (in this case the hair color).
Second while i don’t really have an issue for the Blood Elves i do play them and i can see how Horde players or just players in general would feel like they are being cheated. At the end of the day the fact that we were given the skin colors for me personally is enough to allow each race to have their own identity and not feel like there is too much crossover. I mean Blood Elves have different hair styles but visually the Void Elves have to have something that identifies them as Void Elves and the hair is a reflection of their choice. I do think there could be more hair style choices but i don’t think matching the hair colors is a good idea.
There is an argument to be made that Void Elves could have the “natural” colored hair as Blood Elves were originally forced to have green eyes as their marker of not being High Elves and that has since been changed. I just think it would remove something from the game for both races if this happened. What i would PREFER happen is that Alleria get a new model that is more inline with her status as the leader of the Void Elves and not as the High Elf ranger she is still depicted as, this would and should remove the idea of Alleria still being a High Elf as she has made the choice to become a Void Elf.
However if Vareesa were to bring the Silver Covenant fully into the Alliance (as should have been done years ago in my opinion) then High Elves should just become a playable race with normal/natural hair colors for the Alliance. If Blizzard is not going to do this then they should at least update Alleria’s model to reflect the reality of the game and her status while at the same time also making sure Vareesa and the Silver Covenant having a very limited scope and kind of removing them from the picture for the most part…perhaps having them go form another nation or city.
Just my 2 cents. TLDR: I think what your friend is asking for would be bad for the game and the racial identities at this time and i think giving Alleria a new Void Elf model would be a much better solution to solidify her as the leader of the Void Elves.
im down for this. allerias model can be updated and tweaked to reflect a stronger connection to the void or just more void corruption has caused her hair to reflect the magic she is infused with. they just did it for sylvanas
The thing is that Voif Elves ARE belfs. They are Void belfs.
They are like Mechagnomes-gnomes or Highmountain-Taurens
Only that they are cross-faction…
Technically it makes sense to let them have blood hair lore-wise. That is a fact, they SHOULD be able to control the Void as alleria does and have normal hair… whether or not it should be implemented gameplay-wise? IDK… but lore-wise immersion-wise RP-wise commonsense-wise it does make complete sense.
or you can just make a blood elf if you want to look like the vast, VAST majority of people who like the model and respect the story blizzard has done
please blizzard listen to us. its all about the lore of the neutral dalaran ‘high’ elves that dont even live in or openly support the alliance and are aesthetically/biologically indistinguishable from blood elves(‘high’ elves)
Well, that makes sense for whatever “new” VE they are “recruiting”. The original ones (after Alleria) arent the same, but overall the main thing to remember is that HE customization is for both. So… Essentially it’s just about waiting to see what their plans for the customization are, and give feedback.
blizzard please. this is totally not about a microscopic group who were always after a sexy elf to play as without, the horror and audacity of having to play horde. its about the lore
a white hair high elf option is already there for anyone to play as. its what im posting on. high elves are playable as blood elves or another flavor of high elf with void elves as confirmed by blizzard. make your pick or keep denying it to yourself
Given the reaction when they decided to add natural skin tones to Void Elves, yeah, I think their “compromise” of giving natural skin tones without matching natural hair colors to Void Elves was a mistake.
But adding natural skin tones to Void Elves in general looks like a terrible mistake to me given just how much backlash there’s been over it.
For years there’s been so much toxicity over the subject of High Elves that it feels tone-deaf that they went with this half-measure of adding the actual Blood Elf skin tones to Void Elves while also not giving them natural hair color options.
A big part of the problem definitely lies with the fact that the customization revamp for Blood Elves is a bit underwhelming in the first place (especially for male Blood Elves), and then Blizzard basically landed a gut sucker-punch to the Blood Elf community by straight-up giving the Blood Elf skin color options to the Void Elves unaltered except for underwear (and even then, it took them a while to give the “new” Void Elf skin colors the correct underwear).
Adding more customization options to both Blood Elves and Void Elves alike should be a priority, especially customization in ways that make each race unique.
I think there’s very little chance that Void Elves will ever get natural hair colors, though, at least not anytime soon due to the backlash over the skin colors.
ofc theres very little chance. the hair colors are the only thing that separates them from being a 100% clone of blood elves. they wouldnt spam these threads if they thought differently
Just let players be happy. Blonde hair for void elves, is this the hill we’re really dying on? Open this stuff WAY up.
Let undead be any race using DK skins.
Share all hairstyles across the shared body types, adjusting the DI fire and VE tentacle ones so they make sense, and in fact why not just let them be a toggle for those races anyway.
Any hair color for any race. We can literally change our sex at the barbershop, I’m pretty sure if my velf here wants neon green hair they can make it happen.
Give worgen their tails ffs.
Let all the hunched races stand tall if they want.
Like… Why are we being so petty with each other? We all deserve more options. Azeroth is a small place, it makes complete sense that styles would start to bleed into one another. Give people more to be excited about. Ask for what you want instead of getting so torn up about the idea of someone else getting your toys too.
I absolutely hate the idea of hair colour being locked to style.
Falling Tears, Scandal, and Melancholy are my favourite velf hair styles, and I don’t want to be locked out of hair colours on them just because they don’t happen to come with tentacles.
Again, I feel adding white and black hair doesn’t ruin void elves or make them too much like blood elves. I think it’s a good compromise. I’m pretty sure the random procs of blue void with tentacles are distinctive enough.
I’m sorry, but blizz is never going to make the silver covenant high elves playable for alliance. The opportunity was there and they decided void elves. The skin color changes to void elves was forced from the community.
Remember, “If you want to play a high elf, the horde is waiting for you” I don’t think that mentality has changed.
I want the white and black hair. The blood elves can keep their tentacle free gold and red aesthetic.
