Questing is used for leveling, world questing for resource, rep and gear. I want to say pet battles only exist, because of Pokemon.
There are other rpgs that have a 10x more enjoyable single player experience. Idk how you guys stick around as long as you do.
SPOILER
Based off the leaks it seems like you will be able to upgrade covenant armor, farm Valor for any dungeon gear you have, be able to fly, and go to the new maw zone for xyz.
Again none of this stuff would be enough for me to stick around as a solo player, thank god I actually play the game.
single player rpgs and world of warcraft are not remotely comparable outside of very broad genre. honestly do you play wow solely because it has multiplayer? i seriously doubt it. impressed you even got this far considering how many quests you have to do in order to reach level cap.
I mean. This is like saying “well why can’t I breathe underwater if oceans exist!”
Of course there is going to be solo player stuff to do. Most if it being mindless, braindead chores. Sure, exploration and stuff is nice and good…but come on dude.
Wow has never been about the solo experience. Ever.
why shouldnt there be. if you dont wanna do solo content “because its an mmo” then good. dont play the solo content. by definition your not even gonna interact with the people who play it so why tf does anyone on here care. im not even asking for new content. i just want the content that is there to not be locked behind garbage weekly quests
Sadly, I played wow for over 4 years now and this xpac is for the MMO end game players. Maybe I am burned out, but the player base has changed, and not for the better, imo. So, THIS mmo isn’t for me anymore, and yes I will still be logging on to wow because I love the game but it’s new direction isn’t for me.
This is from a player who is considered casual and does the raiding/dungeons, but all from pugging. Finding a group of people/guild AND finding the time that lines up WITH that group is next to impossible in my life.
Solo playing is what I do. I want to relax and have fun, not to deal with underage drama queens.
Gathering x, killing x/10 is not why I play the game. I watch videos sometimes to get caught up on lore. I think leveling is comfy, but I’m not passionate about it, I do for the end game experience. I’m leveling a warlock right now as my 5th 60 because they’re looking really fun in pvp. The greater purpose of the character keeps me going. Not do all these quests so I can unlock the covenant quests.
Uhm.
I think that it isn’t that solo players are feeling left out in the sense that there’s nothing to do, but rather in the same vein that their progression from 160 to a cap of 194-197 ilevel means they’re discovering little progress in comparison to those who do rated content in harder difficulties. It isn’t essential that they be on the same level of Mythic/Gladiator players, but it’s important to make them feel that the time they’ve invested still gives off an enjoyable outcome for them to continue playing.
Naturally nothing exists within a vacuum courtesy of the WoW’s nature. But it’s important to understand that there have been importantly two systems put in place that have made Solo players feeling the brunt of things in harsher hindsight than anything else.
Although players hated titanforging - and I do, the disparity has become too much of a gap between rated and casuals. Given that the rated can easily cross over into casual play but not vice versa it seems quite slanted towards those who do rated content. The problem isn’t an inherent level of skill but moreso that casuals are getting horribly canned by players in casual bgs with 10k+ HP, with no hope of recovery.
One of World of Warcraft’s designers in its starting stages always introduced the concept of chance and championed it. Chance ensures that despite the outcome something can happen that could entirely subvert it. A lucky crit. A miss. ectera. Right now casuals having that chance that they can be surprised and lightly encouraged to go beyond their means.
Another is scaling which is on the opposite end of the system. The time it takes to kill something and other things have been implemented on a harsher scale than normal it feels like. There’s little difference from going from 160s to 190s ilevel. When a player’s progression isn’t being respected by game mechanics it makes the point moot about the integral system that is well… progression!
my point is that saying that solo players should just quit and play a normal rpg is ridiculous as it implies that the only difference between wow and something like baldurs gate is multiplayer. which is blatantly non true. name 1 single player game that plays like wow. not a game that has some aspect of wow. like diablo and gearing. or dragon age and tab target combat. name 1 game that is legitimately a single player alternative to wow.
WoD was actually better in that LFR dropped decent gear and even had a chance of warforging into a really nice piece.
A solo queue option is the best solution.
This game is a MMORPG
I imagine they’ll throw us some kibble and call it adequate. Maybe a dozen or so WQs that drop irrelevant ilvl gear.
ohmygod can people shut up with this. its simultaneously saying that the game is solely multiplayer and also simultaneously is exactly the same as any other rpg except for the inclusion of multiplayer. make your mind up.
If bliz made a change that you had to log in with a group, the next day, wow would be DEAD.
Wow is a solo player game with group optional content.
I’m just wondering why they made mythic plus such a chore to get gear , are we not allowed to play Alts anymore ?
if mmo games had no merit outside of multiplayer nobody would play them as newer games have outclassed that in most aspects.
This thread. Currently this game feels like league of legends rather than an MMORPG. Sad times. Had more fun in WoD.
Wod was definitely fun for me. Excluding the whole flying fiasco. Loved Legion, greatly enjoyed bfa despite its minor problems.
In systemlands I have nothing to do, nothing keeps me interested.
My progression is locked. The covenant bias makes taking any of my toons who I chose the covenants I found fun impossible to do anything higher than solo content.
The worst class imbalance ever in the history of the game. My necrolord havoc dh just gets deleted in random bgs, same with my necro warrior and necro druid or prettymuch any of my toons.
There’s also no taking him into anything higher than lfr or heroic 5 man’s. And don’t even get me started on how much of a grueling grindfest the anima rewards are when the anima is so low its non existent.
So since I’m locked on anything to do I have no reason to stay subscribed and I know I’m not the only one. I doubt even 9.1 can save this mess of a game or bring anyone back.
If you are a solo player, like me, the best thing is to play the content that’s available and that you enjoy. Once that content is used up, unsubscribe and play something else, until more content you enjoy is available.
Blizzard’s dev team is trying to keep a diverse group of players happy. If they see a significant revenue loss from one of those groups, they will move heaven and earth to get you back.
