Blizzard/WoW Should Embrace Streamers Rather Than Punish Them

I have no opinion on streamers doing what they do. I don’t understand the appeal of watching them, but I don’t understand the appeal of watching a lot of things; that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with the people who do enjoy it.

However, I really don’t like having to scroll past advertisements when I’m searching out a group, and personally, I’m glad Blizzard has put their foot down about it finally.

Wish you all the best with your endeavors, but not via ad listings in the group finder. xo

Sorry man, hope your silence is short. I think how strict things are right now in alot of things like this is not fair or friendly.

I hope that’s true because that is what I am doing now. The problem is people can still report just “Your Name” and the bots won’t know the difference. I was just looking for Blizzard to maybe give a safe place to post where trolls who realize you are streaming cant get you banned.

I mean it’s to be expected when some of them become so big. I’ve seen it first hand a lot of people just naturally hate streamers here. And this is coming from someone who does streams too.

I don’t know, maybe they are tighter?

i would contact customer service and voice your pointd

but those who would be in a position to make changes arent on gen chat or any of the forums for that matter

fwiw- i would not have returned to fame if not for streamers and content providers of this game

You’re conflating the Silence with the Squelch. The Squelch has been in the game, LONG before this contract (IK that’s not the point, but I just want to be clear about it). While, Blizz made the Squelch a thing, it wasn’t them that did it, but the WoW community.

Plus, you were advertising. Whether there’s a link or not, you were begging for views.

I’m not against streamers, but I cannot stand people that go into other people’s companies, groups, places, etc., and advertise themselves. Doesn’t matter if you’re a streamer, person trying to sell merchandise, running a contest, etc. I hate it all.

I’d report you, too.

I understand that’s how some people may see it that is why I have now eliminated any references to Twitch and rather just put my name so people know it’s my raid and if they are familiar with me they will know to join. However, this won’t stop people who realize I streaming from reporting me and the bots can’t tell the difference they will ban me nonetheless.

I honestly can’t argue with that. It dies seem to be the case.

Automated system known as the Squelch.

You weren’t “banned”. Please stop calling it, that.

The Squelch has always existed even before this contract and has been abused, but nobody cared enough to remain fighting against this system.

If you want a system to blame, blame the Squelch. It’s the root of most (not all) of these problems.

You must be new here. Remember summer 2021 when all the big name streamers “quit” WoW and started streaming themselves crying about a boring as hell 500 hr quest line in FF14? They were literally the only reason why that game became relevant.

I have issues with most of, if not all; WoW streamers for one reason or another. Blizzard should not embrace streamers. The ones that get big and have massive influence seem to do a great deal of harm to the community and the game.

No one in game cares about your stream. You’re not important. Posting links to it is annoying and your realm mates don’t want to see it.

CS is not the point of contact for suggestions. Suggestions for Blizzard games are to be submitted through the in-game suggestion tool or by posting here on the forums. The devs are not here, but the Community Managers are tasked with reading the forums, reddit, etc and passing on feedback.

You can get squelched (muted) if a lot of unique accounts report you in a short period of time. It sounds like that happened to you. An actual applied Silence, Suspension, or account closure (ban), is applied by a GM. You will get an email telling you of the offense and duration.

You are not likely going to get a safe space to advertise your twitch stream.

Don’t advertise in game then? It gets really, really irritating to see that kind of thing in chat, or through /yell or anywhere else.

If I wanted to watch your stream, then I would - organically, via Twitch. Having to see some badly thought up marketing device in WoW? Yeah, no, really not interested.

I dont think Blizz wants you to put your viewer listings on dungeon finder.

Just put a regular name on dungeon finder and explain the details on your stream.

Streamers like you always put an external chat or website to be invited to the raid. Some of these external websites are harmful to users. Bliz doesnt want that.

And i hate streamers. I used to like Asmon but when he raged to quit WoW to join the weeb game FF14, i started to hate them all. These streamers fooled players. They just want audiences. They are not authentic on how they feel about the game.

I am not saying I was banned I think I said I was silenced. If I did say I was banned then I misspoke. The reason I am using the term “banned” in some of my posts is that multiple offences can lead to a ban and I am trying to suggest a way to avoid that situation.

More like you said you are going to get “banned”, but you won’t. I’ve been cited on two different infringements, but I’m still here. You re-evaluate how you deal with the general public after that.

And, it’s already been explained to you, that you were advertising so don’t advertise.

And, you’ve been told.

Thanks for clarifying that. Indeed I was muted which means a bot likely ran it once people reported my listing.

That’s ok. I am not going to pout about not getting my way I simply wanted to bring eyes to something I believed was an issue. I figured the forum was a good place to do it. I have never posted here before. Reading between the troll comments I have gotten some useful feedback. Perhaps one-day things might be different but for now, I will adjust accordingly.

Pretty sure they already pamper and cater to them.

Guess who gets the first beta invites? Even if they don’t play WoW.
