Blizzard/WoW Should Embrace Streamers Rather Than Punish Them

I don’t care if ppl stream and build a community as you say. The only caveat against it is that the streamer can make money. I’m not a huge streamer viewer and I don’t stream myself. I wouldn’t watch the stream anyway even if I saw it and I have no desire to be on stream. I wouldn’t care if I were filmed in the stream one way or another but I’m not that guy you see behind the news reporter trying to be seen on camera.

I wonder how many players end up checking out WoW because streamers are able to freely post/share WoW content.

I get where Blizzard and some posters are coming from but if the streamer can’t benefit from streaming and getting some cash, then Blizzard shouldn’t be able to get any free advertising from people who make WoW content available outside of the game via streaming.

Seems a bit odd to be outraged at streamers streaming and freely promoting a game while allowing them to shine light on the game and get the interest of others in the process who end up trying the game out because of the stream.

That even comes down to the youtubers who just post music from a specific zone I’m listening to now. Free advertising but I don’t see Blizzard taking a stand against that.

People can get gold to pay for their subs from other players and essentially pay and play with someone elses money. Streamers do that too I suppose…playing with donation money for free I mean.

Many ways to look at this and like most topics it isn’t black and white.

This topic is a 2 way street and I think the one who benefits the most is Blizzard.

What a beautifully stated, well thought out and unemotionally charged response. Thank you.

The other thing that I think a lot of people are missing, as stated earlier, is that Sam is warning prospective applicants that they are basically consenting to be on stream. Without that warning, their character and actions could end up on stream without their knowledge.

This makes it additionally complicated, because some people, as has been demonstrated by this thread, are inherently anti-streamer, and flag the streamer, even if there was no link or name in the listing. A lot of people don’t know how to just leave the streamer to their community, and move on to a group they want to apply to. As long as the streamer isn’t advertising, the action should be easy to prevent, or overturn.

the devs have attacked and harassed some streamers…lol.

Thanks!

The facts are the facts in the end. Seems like a lot of one sided takes in the thread with plenty of emotion and resentment towards someone who streams. I think its a bit overblown but to each their own.

Its 100% true too and there really was no anger or any other feeling present when I posted that. Just my take on it.

Otherwise it doesnt really matter to me as Im a 3rd party watching it unfold.

Totally agreed solid response and good points!

What’s your channel, I’ll slide in with a sub just because there are so many clowns and haters in this thread. F em!

You can try to expand in social media like Facebook and Twitter, but yeah people have been ruthless and trolly with the new contract, some are scared to world pvp and will be reported for griefing in a pvp environment.

I don’t know if they are useing automation or actuall people to enforce the rules. Most likely automation if people are being banned for saying hi or hello.

Might be a good experiment to find out if someone is willing to be the ginnie pig.

Haha I’d be afraid to post that in this thread because all the trolls would come running with ad ban requests but I’d gladly whisper you on the side. Feel free to add Samiccus-Tichondrious in game no sub required.

the entertainment comes from being in the top .01% of players or having some sort of crazy personality. then there’s streamers who are incredibly boring and mediocre who just try and get viewers by doing stuff like m+15 carries

Can’t send you a friend request. Keeps saying player not found, but I could be doing it wrong. FatMike675#1188 is my battletag

Streamers are the new Susan. com

You advertised in the group finder.
You advertised a company that isnt owned or operated by blizzard/affilate company.
You advertised something that generates profit for another company and yourself.
You got silenced.
Working as intended.

They often do embrace streamers and advertise their streams on bnet.

I dont see an issue witht his tbh.

This is most likely what got you actioned.

Would you expect to go into your fave fast food (Zinger4lyfe) and see advertising for other fast food companies, do you expect the store to accept that?

They do want you to stream. They do not want you to advertise within the lfg channels because its not for advertising.

They literally did this for both BfA and Shadowlands. Focusing on the wants and needs from a very small group can and does lead to both failure and ruin.

OP,
Advertising in trade chat is no longer allowed. If Blizzard made an exception for you, then they’d have to make an exception for everyone else, including the boosting community.

Um, no you don’t. Blizzard’s playground, not yours. Their house, their rules.

But I put it in the same spot where you can put your discord. Dosn’t Discord also give you a “True” answer to each of the statements you made above?

I understand my friend. I am saying there is nothing within their rules and their house that says you can’t use a name in group finder. Unless that name is deemed to be offensive for some reason. A name alone should not be seen as an advertisement. Besides I don’t think that was the reason for my silence anyways that Community Counsel Member got a bit off track with that one. I think the reason was the use of the word Twitch in the “voice chat” field that I had in my LFG.

Please don’t encourage the internet pan-handlers.

because this is seen as an advertisement and not a legit group.
