Blizzard, start paying your employees a livable wage

Yup. People latch on to these jobs that are supposed to be stepping stones to something better and try to make careers out of them. Just isn’t ever going to work out in their favor.

We only have so many hours in a day. And if a job takes up most/all of those hours (after the the needed free time has been removed) it should provide you with the correct percentage per drivable area to be able to exist in order to fill that job. Other wise your basically a self-sustaining slave.

Livable wage is wrong because it’s a flat number and should be a percent based upon the area. But the concept of being able to actually live in the area your working near is a strong one.

Of course it’s a broad term, what’s a livable wage in the bay area is not the same in southern Mississippi

Lets be honest. Most testers would be content getting paid in weed and pizza.

It’s not just a “trumpian” thing to say or think. Many have had this sort of attitude/thought process before our current POTUS was in office.

Not defending the person you quoted in the least, I find their take to be completely incorrect, but that mindset isn’t something that has popped up in the last 4 yrs.

Probably just as nasty as the IKEA menu items. lol

“Just went down”?? Dude, lmk where you’re living that Covid isn’t still an issue. lol Stop holding out on us!!

:sparkles:

Lol sounds like what we did with his cash from that job wile playing the free games lol.

Exactly.

Have they considered a career change into something more lucrative? California is a hot market for plumbers.

This, I agree with in principle. Do not think it’d work out in practice to drive up the prices of everything.

I make around 75k a year as a plumber in Ohio. I might not be rich but I live a comfortable life

They’re literally supplementing them with store mounts, “swag,” and company “honor points.”

Stop living in hysteria. Do yourself the favor. I could tell you some things I personally saw within my own house that puts it into perspective but I doubt it would do much good. Some people are addicted to fear.

What I meant by it though was the $600+ a week unemployment benefits for the covid shutdown that happened.

I am going to err on the side of caution. An employee created a spreadsheet…anything can be put in a spreadsheet. The only way to corroborate this is by having the company itself provide that type of data, which it won’t. But using a spreadsheet, I can claim I made $12 an hour, while actually making $70K a year. It is not a reliable source.

Or welders. Everyone everywhere needs welders.

So then people need to get a better, higher paying job. A “livable wage” would be what you, yourself could live off of. You want family? To be or not to be the only bread winner? Vacations, luxuries get a job that pays more than a “livable wage”.

It really isn’t if they have to decide whether to eat or pay bills. That doesn’t seem livable to me. They could choose to go to another company where they’d actually get a livable wage, but trying to find a job in this pandemic is ghastly, to say the least, especially if they’re just starting out in their career.

I’m not suggesting everyone should get $100k a year, but at the very least people shouldn’t have to choose if they would rather be homeless or hungry when they already have a job.

I was wondering this as well. But if it’s true, it’s very sad and disappointing…

I forget sarcasm is lost in text.

Guess the “Stop holding out on us” didn’t give much of a hint.

In this thread: lots of angsty conservatives confusing a class issue for a left-right issue.

I apologize then. It’s  :earth_americas: and chaotic.

Steel workers make a damn good living as do longshoreman. And are always in demand.

Don’t underwater welders make a lot? Like 250k+ a year working on ships and underwater infostructure?

Totally agree with you. A starting wage is that: starting wage. If the job isn’t paying enough, look for another job.
