Thus it should be percentage for area. Because in NY it’s 1500 for a (junkie) studio, in TX its about 500 for the same junk. The wages should reflect the housing and food costs of the area needed to live in to access that job sight in a reasonable amount of time.

The “left’s ideals” is the road paved with good intentions. They may be your intentions but that’s not what the destination is. There’s a reason why these companies are siding with china and not capitalist countries. Just as the big wig politicians on the left are also siding with china.
That’s fair but not all jobs are supposed to be career jobs. FedEx Ground Package Handling I made 28/year on the high end if I got 60, sometimes 70 hours per 2 weeks. On my final year, they cut back on shipping out of the facility I was working at and barely made 18k/year.
Instead of trying to force a career out of this job, I went to TCAT and got my IT Certifications. Most states today, have some form of educational funding. Depending on your living situations, it can even be free or at a reduced rate. My tuition was 60% off through most of it until I landed an entry level IT job where tuition went up because I made more.
People need to use some jobs as stepping stones to get to the big jobs that are actual career jobs.
I can get behind this, if that’s how it works out in practice. The current iteration and talking points for it, I’m not in the slightest agreement of it.
Fact is, we need to get over this idea that an entry level job needs to pay enough for someone to live alone.

What the hell? Why? A few decades ago a man could support his wife and 3 kids in a giant house off a blue-collar job. Wages have not at all kept up with GDP. That’s the problem.

There are a lot of variable that need to be taken into account. Skill level required, competition or supply of laborers, experience and time in position.
It is a nice sentiment to say people should earn enough to cover food, rent, etc, but that isn’t always possible.
For example a delivery guy where I work makes about $9 an hour, the average rent for a 1 bedroom apt is just shy of $3000.
And before that generation, most people lived at home until they got married. In fact, owning your own house is a relatively new concept in the western world. Most people didn’t own property. They couldn’t afford it. Post WWII economies allowed that to happen for a while. Now it’s starting to roll back that tide of wealth.
Which law would that be?

You still can if you are willing to get your hands dirty. Do you know how hard it is now to find good help in construction? Hell I know a guy offering $20 an hour starting out for hod carriers. A job that could lead to an even better paying job as a bricklayer if you put the time in to learn. But no one wants to get their hands dirty anymore.
