Blizzard should change their "whats reportable" rules

Naw…the fear-mongering is caused by people like you who are going to be RcR happy because your feelwies get hurt or someone disagrees with you…That is why people are worried about this garbage

Sadly, there are a small number of disgruntled folk who hold very hateful views and they want to spread this hate.

Squelching wouldn’t exist, if these folks could just learn to shut up, but they are unstable, so we have to suffer with this “lesser evil”.

So you are saying that you are too lazy to take an appropriate action and that you should be accommodated in this laziness.

I am opposed to the player imposed punishment of an auto squelch. I am opposed to giving Johnny and his cronies the power to collude to impose their own brand of vigilante justice by squelching any other player at any time for anynrrason, even if that player committed no actual violation.

I believe that anyone violating the TOS and EULA should be reported and punished. I simply believe that ANY punishment, including a squelch, be administered by Blizzard and NOT Johnny and his cronies.

We have already seen at least one poster all but explicitly state that they plan to abuse the system by colluding with their friends to squelch anyone that has the audacity to use /trade for anything other than the buying or selling of goods or services, despite the fact that Blizzard stated explicitly this was not a violation and was permitted. That same poster also all but explicitly stated that he plans to hide in the grey area to avoid being punished for abusing the system. That grey area is the fact that players can still be reported for actual violations, such as spamming.

“)My guild mates and I know that using /trade for things other than the buying or selling of goods or services is not a violation, but we thought he was spamming. Honest. We all reported him within seconds of each other, but not with the intent to squelch him. Honest. We wouldn’t lie to save our own skin and avoid being punished for abuysing the system.”

We have another poster that sees all those other players in an MMO as nothing but obstacles in their way and appears to be chomping at the bit to try to squelch them all.

I’m saying I would not care enough to take action without RCR therefore RCR helps me to clean up the game I enjoy. Yes when I am playing I don’t want to stop and make a ticket.

Or we could ignore them and take away their power. If only this game had a right click feature that made it so you would never see anything from that person again. Oh, wait…

At least be honest for one post. You want a oneclick “shut up the person who typed words that made me feel bad” and you just dont have the intestinal fortitude to come right out and say it.

Thanks for taking the time to answer man. While we don’t see eye to eye we can at least communicate.

I see the system as being by blizzard. While the fear of abuse is real, it has not manifested itself yet, it is possible to show up via your examples of those who plan to abuse it. And THAT is where we def agree.

I know you know my stance on this but ill say it again for the others.

I believe in a strong swift punishment to those who chose to use the system abusively. Once that is publicized that people are being banned for that abuse people will think twice about abusing it.

That is my take.

Well said. Unfortunately, the ones behind this particular push want right click control and lack the spine to say it.

I don’t care enough honestly, I want those that do to have the right to do so and remove those that choose to break the rules from the game.
RCR is the best solution to that. Period.
I’m working and threads like this are a great distraction while I work.
Honestly spam or gold sellers is the only reason I would likely use the RCR but I can understand if others use it more liberally.
Those that get reported 99.99999999% of the time deserve it and that is close enough to 100% that the other ones are effectively nil.

Do you have even one fact to back your claim? No. Yet again you fall back on the argument that you feel a certain way, so it must be correct.

basing it on the fact that threads in the CSF have been found where Blizzard stated that the RCR was warranted and there has been 0 shown that it was a false report.
If it was a common occurence (or even a non-rare occurence) there would be daily threads on the CSF forum complaining about it and there is not because it just doesn’t happen.
Threads on the CSF forum are generally locked and not deleted so saying ‘well it gets posted but it disappears’ is not a valid excuse.

First, Blizzard deletes threads all the time. Second, with your attitude, I sincerely hope that you end up on a server with the people many of us have been trying to warn you about because you will likely end on the receiving end of the malicious use of RCR.

highly unlikely as I don’t break the chat rules in public chat.

How many times have you been unfairly punished by malicious use of RCR in the last 12 years it’s implemented on World of Warcraft?

There is very obviously a major difference between “it only happens in threads that are always delisted in 15 minutes or less” and “it happens all the time to everyone”.

Pretending otherwise is disingenuous at best. Do you actually believe that Blizzard’s forum moderation is sufficiently rapid, competent, and thorough that they are engaging in some sort of massive conspiracy that is covering up constant credible reports of abuse? I don’t think they’re capable of that even if they were trying to.

These are what I have found in a two minute search, still looking for ones that verify a silence was undue.

Judging by the hostilities of some on this forum, you can almost predict who gonna fall afoul of the system.

My friend, I have plenty of spine to take time out of my day to sit down and talk to someone who’s only way to make any feedback is to call names.

Listen. I don’t want right-click control to rule the world. I want the ability to be a part of shutting something down that needs it.

We are going to have many problems creep up. I adore the gold spam and what it means and stands for. The hours of gameplay people lose for being hacked or worst purchasing from these services only to have their accounts banned.

The “I think it’s funny” to use racial slurs because its edgy. And many other things that go along with it.

You want to claim that that is the only reason we want it. No. The reason I want it is because I understand that the large portion of the GM staff where let go and they will be very very understaffed. Problems need to be taken care of.

But we have said that over and over and you still come back with calling us spinless or on some power trip.

That’s not the case mate. Its not.

A couple of us who have been arguing in this thread for common sense has been a part of this community for a while. We want to see Classic flourish and grow. We want it to be a huge success. . Part of that desire to see that happen is wrapped up in just trying to get people to consider all sides of all situations.

I DO see the possibility of abuse of RCR. . And I don’t like it any more than you. But the factual evidence is still so small and anecdotal compared to the millions of people that are affected by the system that it is not enough to warrant more than a passing consideration right now.

We are all on the same team. . Team Classic is HERE!!

We agree that anyone that abuses the system should be swiftly, severely and harshly punished.

As thevsystem is currently, the problem is in proving that abuse, especially when there are many large and easily manipulated “grey areas”.

This is why I suggested removing the “grey areas” and make the system “binary”.

A squelch that is upheld by GM review and appeal is valid and those reporting the squelched player face no punishment.

A squelch that is overturned upon manual review or appeal, however, means that Blizzard determined no actual violation occurred. The reports that contributed to the squelch were falsely filed and EACH AND EVERY player submitting a report that contributed to the squelch which was subsequently overturned is immediately and severely punished using an escalating punishment system.
