Blizzard, PLEASE do not add a mount store to Classic

Blizzard,

With the recent datamining of the warp stalker mount:

It being a low poly/res model and thus not a retail mount.

Please do not add a mount to an in-game store. Or an in-game store at all. This is the open can of worms myself, fellow forum posters, and most famously Madseason have talked about. I care about this game, and I think pro/anti boosters alike would agree that a store mount does not accurately capture the spirit of Classic TBC.

I can promise you Blizzard that doing these things will make you money in the short term, but will cost you in the end. Either reputation or losing a large chunk of the player base that specifically plays Classic for its
well
Classic feeling.

Think of the cheers at BlizzCon when Vanilla Classic wow was announced. There is a reason that we wanted Classic and store mounts were not ever one.

You think its a store mount, but given that it is low poly, its not likely to actually be a store mount because it wouldn’t sell at that visual fedility
its more than likely going to be a raid or boss drop to add an easter egg in for us to find for something else to chase.

but that’s not “classic” i mean balance changes are one thing, but adding a completely new mount is another.

i’ll use my stimulus money to pay for 039475934875 accounts to buy this and the boosts assuming it’ll drive off all the blizzard/wow hating private server trolls. G O B A C K T O N O S T.

There is a lot of possibilities. My theory is that this is the mount people will get with the level 58 boost. Also possibly a TBC promotional bundle item. Maybe a promotional bundle that includes the boost.

Uh, aren’t balance changes far far more important than a cosmetic mount? Or is the concern the potential to use $$ instead of gold to get it?

That sounds extremely unlikely. Mounts aren’t account-wide so if people want to ride it they need to ditch their main and reroll to a boosted character.

I’d say it’s more likely to be a reward unlocked in Retail for something done in TBC.

My stance on store mounts has always been a hard pass, and I honestly don’t think Blizzard would add it to BC just because profit; but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did. Remember how many people bought the first store mount? The sparkle pony?

Also just watched the full video, it has a swimming animation. Mounts still couldn’t swim until Wrath of the Lich King (first aquatic mount was the turtle from fishing), I don’t think they even had animations for them back then so it’s pointless to add them for a mount intended for Burning Crusade.

The celestial steed or whatever it is called? I’ve probably seen dozens of people with it but that is dozens out of thousands.

Personally, have never and will never spend $$ on a mount. Cosmetics aren’t important to me. I have spent $$ for tokens because I’d rather do that than grind gold or sell stuff like M+ carries. It is a much better return on investment when I can make that 20$ token in less than 2 hours of work. I was never great at making gold though. It bores me.

my wife bought the sparkle pony for me when she decided to buy 398475934875345 store mounts for me, one day. lol

Yes, back when it first launched it felt like 60%+ of the population bought it. They were everywhere.

I’ve never bought a store mount either.

They’ll probably do some promotion where if you buys 6 months of game time you get the mount.

The mount was in the TBC files, not Shadowland. It will exist in TBC, not Retail.

Agreed earning money to buy your mount is a major stepping stone in Classic being awarded a unique mount is essentially giving 1000g to players . why i would be ok with mounts as a ingame gold sink or a new hidden drop it must be something attained within game. Put it on a vendor for 20k gold

Maybe because it was a new feature and looked cool. A lot of people really do not mind paying to support the game as long as they get something in exchange that will be useful for them. Whether that be a mount, a boost, or a token. I don’t understand the demonization of Blizzard as greedy for profiting off of providing things people want. Don’t @ me with the ‘people don’t know what they want’ or ‘that leads to disaster’.

if you can find a way to USE A MOUNT IN WATER pre wrath, you’re either hacking or on a private server.

if you have a monk switch to it. it’ll increase their anger a thousand fold and you’ll be even MORE right about them irrationally hating anything retail related.

I don’t know what you’re saying. It’s in the TBC client, not the Shadowlands client.

it has a swimming animation. it’s not a 200iq jump to assume since it has retail functionality, it’ll be a retail mount. lots of things exist in the classic stuff that have never been a part of classic at all, because it’s part of the legion client which is used for the classic client.

if you think they’re letting mounts swim that’s something more important to be enraged about vs being upset a new mount exists at all. it’s a much bigger #somechanges than a single mount in an expansion that introduces 230489023849234 new ones. it changes the function of mounts entirely an entire expansion too soon.

I’m sure they used the lower res graphics to match the TBC graphics for no reason?

This is a TBC mount. Would it surprise you they’re letting mounts swim in TBC Classic? They’ve already thrown authenticity out the window.

What if they implemented the achievement system in TBC classic and this mount is a reward for clearing content? That would be pretty awesome.

then make a thread about that and whine about that. that’s a much bigger change than a single new mount being introduced, regardless of where said mount comes from.
