Yeah that’s my point though. Both are unintended yet nobody has a problem with certain exploitation’s of the system, but then call for bans with other ones. I guess the degree to which it impacts other players matters to an extent, but it’s hard to quantify that type of thing. I am sure an entire team removing their gems vs. one that didn’t got a serious advantage and it more than likely won people games. However this example is a lot more in your face so it’s more upsetting. In the end it’s all Blizzards fault and they need as much pressure on them as possible to remove scaling.
Bingo I mean did we forget Inef corruption. How Blizzard never thought of how it would have multiplicative CD reduction with some specs. Then despite this unintended issue they decided to leave it in the game because after further review felt it was fine.
Using items or a system (how they are designed) is not a bug despite being unintended. I put in the bold part how they are designed since that is the key part.
So using scaling how it was designed to Min/Max some weird naked 1 shot is not a bug. It’s 100% how the scaling system works.
Don’t agree with your choice of words here. No one is exploiting the system they are just using the system better than other people and that is a fact. Min/Maxing in a scaling system will never be an exploit. The word exploit gets tossed around to much.
If I told you certain low lvl gear was BiS with Drest is that an exploit? No it’s just what BiS is and Min/Maxing Drest dmg. Not saying a combo like that exist… Just a hypothetical.
I want to add the real problem is PvP players don’t know what BiS gear is in this scaling system!! There needs to be transparency!!!
I am more than happy to wear green gear if that is BiS. Just we should all clearly know.
Yeah maybe it is the wrong way to describe it. I also understand why someone would want players to be banned for this as it will help curb the behavior and create a more “fair” environment. In the end I just feel it’s all Blizzard’s fault and everyone should direct their anger towards them over anything negative related to scaling.
nelf ww stock is soaring
Why though? Abusing bugs is against the ToS. Furthermore it is a competitive bracket against other players. Slap out a suspension and revert their rating gains.
It’s tough to say what’s a bug vs. what’s min-maxing the system when it comes to gear scaling. This isn’t a bug in the sense that someone wall climbs up the roof at Blacksmith to defend the node but I’d say there’s a certain element to putting up a DoT with gear on, running to take it off for a one shot vs. saying someone equips BiS gear that shouldn’t be BiS (full greens) continuously for games.
Still, wouldn’t really ban anyone as Bolt had said. This system was delivered with a remarkable lack of clarity and when valid concerns were raised they were brushed off with condescension.
I’d expect a pretty swift hotfix. As Bolt said above, an apology would certainly be appropriate.
We are all kids playing on a playground with playground equipment that wasn’t put together correctly.
Okay but if you knowingly push someone down the 40ft tall slide that you know is going to collapse you’re being a jerk.
that is u tho

No bugs are abused though. They are just using the scaling system how it was designed to Min/Max damage on a go. This has been stated several times in this thread. Being naked by design increases your damage by 238%. Again this is a Blizzard design issue with a failed system…not the players.

It’s hard to say it’s competitive when scaling exist. The system they implemented to make it competitive actually had the complete opposite effect. You can’t suspend someone for Min/Maxing BiS set ups to win because that is part of the game. You just can’t.

Well for one we aren’t actually physically harming each other so your analogy veered off into the deep end. Secondly, the broken slide even existing is blizzards fault and not Johnny the shove machine.
The playground was put together, someone signed off saying it was complete, and then the kids were released to go play on it.
Blizzard can do whatever they want. You don’t own the account. Also, you’re going to be hard pressed to not call this a bug as a developer. Maybe they won’t suspend people, but this isn’t intentional in the coding.

Bingo! Also can we acknowledge the fact that I am agreeing with JD and Boltqt is agreeing with me and if that isn’t a sign of the end times then what is? This is clearly a Blizzard problem.

but this isn’t intentional in the coding.
Sure it is… you 100% by design do 238% more damage by being naked. That is intended. They coded it that way.
This is only a bug if the system isn’t acting the way its supposed to, which isn’t the case. The system is increasing his damage exactly the way it was intended to do when it was coded/put in.
Sure they clearly didn’t forsee this scenario but it’s doing EXACTLY what they wanted it to do.
Your inability to see things in anything but absolutes is scary.

Again exactly correct and why I brought up Ineff Truth.

Did you just insert “in the coding” to attempt to sound smart or
If you repeat the same thing again and again that doesn’t mean it’s true
You’re using the same logic bug abusers and exploiters have used in every game ever
“if it’s in the game the game it’s not my problem, it’s on blizzard to fix it and I’ll use it in the meantime”
it’s pretty simple to follow the DBAA rule, don’t be an a**hole
but you continue to lower the bar
