Think about this , everyone will get the best conquest gear with max scale at pvp from the start , what’s the point of climbing rating when you get all the important stuff from the start , of course there’s a mount and tittle ,but most of the people won’t get that and others don’t care for it , they will get no reward for climbing rating aside of upgrading pvp gear for PvE sceneries , some people might say is nice to get stuff free because you lack of time , but what you don’t notice is once there’s no point for doing pvp to get rewarded you won’t do it or just do it casually, is like giving max ilvl raid gear to people that do dugeons ,why would they keep doing dugeons if you get the best gear already ,blizzard killed part of the reason for many people to climb rating just to satisfy streamers, after all streamers just care to gear fast make their content fast and earn money , don’t get trick by their words of praise to this system , they will make their content and go afk
Pvp isn’t about gear progression, it’s about cosmetic progression. We want an even playing field but with lots of achievement or rating based costmetics/titles/enchants/etc. Removing the INCENTIVE for pve cucks to pay for boosts because they can’t fight a scripted boss to get their loot is a MASSIVE plus to boot.
Pvp gear progression was always a big part of competitive pvp , was always about climbing rating to get better gear even on old expansions ,when none likes the mount or care for the tittle what’s the point on getting competitive? You are talking about boosting too ,what have this to do ? People will keep paying boost for tittle and mounts , you think because now a glad won’t have different gear than you he won’t beat you ? He will beat you while the person that’s being carried will have better gear too , a glad can easily carry that and even easier than before .

Hard disagree. Gating has been one of this games biggest deterrents to returning players in recent years. There have been scores of people that have considered the idea of returning only to be discouraged due to the significant gear grinds and disparities. Winning and losing should be based upon skill and not item level.
This has been the most pleasant expansion release to date. I have a wife, children, a career, a mortgage and other responsibilities. This game should be a fun hobby not a tiring chore. I hit 70 and jumped immediately into PvP and was full geared within hours. Now I can enjoy other aspects of the game’s content without the overwhelming dread of falling behind.
People that love PvP for sport will still PvP. And people that are mildly interested will no longer be dissuaded from trying it due to the gearing curve.
TLDR - if people need item level incentive to PvP, they really don’t enjoy PvP.

For example, 1800 players are already better than 1600 players, because they are more skilled…
then you add gear difference in this equation…
a 1600 new player should beat more skilled players with more gear to become 1800 … it makes no sense
Plenty of reason to PVP. Transmog, enchants, mounts, titles, tabards, etc. Half of which are low hanging fruit so anyone who PVPs regularly should be able to get something.
Gear gap made alting suck, it made getting fresh 60’s in BGs on your team suck, it fostered 2700 virgins to max gear Fury Warriors to sit 2k with and piss me off.
PVP is the best it has been since I started playing it.
Edit: Except for Sub mains. They’re busy creeping around bardyards IRL trying to suckle livestock because their constitutions are too weak to tolerate solid foods.
As others have stated, the reward comes from knowing you are the most skilled and best at what you do. Your reward comes from knowing your class better than others. And many people like me care about gaining rating more than constantly having to chase gear upgrades.
I absolutely hated losing and wondering whether I lost because I simply sucked or I lost because of gear levels and some overpowered proc
If you enjoy endless gear upgrades, go do PvE.

OP is for sure a booster. Anyone defending the old gear system benefitted from it in some sort of way.
The only people who benefitted in PvP from 9 levels of upgradable PvP gear gated behind rating were boosters or gold buyers. The mid range players (majority of players) rated 1600-2100 just got rolled or gated behind boosters.
The new system is actually the best gearing system I’ve ever seen in the games history.
There’s literally 0 other games you can play against other people where you can start your game at an advantage for being a better player.
Look I made it to rival last season in my first time pvping ever. And it wasn’t satisfying dusting some alt or someone new stepping into the arena because I had such a blatantly glaring gear advantage over them.
If the OP is a booster, then I’m Jesus Christ. Because the only thing that guy is boosting is cans of Red Bull from a local convenience store to sell for cash to buy spray paint to huff in between sobbing about the current game state.

I know ,i went through that myself , in last season of shadowlands i reach 1.8k and even higher with several classes , because i wanted the transmog was hell ,but i managed i wasn’t the best at the start , i even used clicking , but i got better and did my goal ,and i tell you now will be harder because there will be boosting still ,this didn’t change just now now the people that pay boosting will have better gear from the start , you might get the same gear as a challenger but the experience is another thing , things won’t change in that aspect
This is the problem with the new gear system, there’s no incentive. But apparently most people just want to PvP without any progression besides rating so it is what it is. PvP for a while, see no character progression/increase in power, get bored, leave the game. Ah well.

It’s tough reading some of these arguments that hold little merit and not simply fall back down to the conclusion that the “hidden” motivation for them includes simply coveting the gear gap variance because it gives perceived power and makes things nice and cozy.
I agree with Lichborne and Beastlyjim about this thread. There is always that small crowd that won’t like it but the majority of us like the new pvp gear change. I rather win with skill and knowing my class getting rewards like Elite set xmog (even though mine looks like they took random colored boogers and stuck it on for a Power Rangers Vibe) Weapon enchant, tabard etc. The amount of joy I heard from a lot of people for Dragonflight pvp gearing was extremely noticeable in game, here and other social media places. I was also super stoked and let the Devs know how happy I was.
I think would be okay with just removing grinding for borrowed power , legendaries and stuff like that , when conquest was uncap you could get full conquest gear in 2 days wasn’t a chore, and even without it you could climb to 1k rating easy , the difference is now there won’t be incentive to improve ,what would be the fun of making effort and not get rewarded , because not everyone like their class transmog or the mount , many of the this things will just be earned by about 3% or the players doing pvp

I guess for some, standing outside of ZM or Korthia with massive gear advantages and emote / duel spamming folks with 40k less health might be missed, but for the most part folks just want to enjoy the PVP element.
Not getting destroyed or “losing by default” in BGs is amazing versus catering to the “I put my time in, I should get to bam bam the alts and newbs without effort” mindset .
Pvp IS the reward.
Making pvp fun to play with some unlockable stuff is all most people want.
Twinking already exists if you want to just crush people while having a massive gear advantage.
