Blizzard: Ignorantly eager to kill all the success of Classic

The problem is that this is not a creative field issue. This is a management issue.

Again here we go.

This claim that they were able to anticipate big launches 9 years ago with more people yet were unable to handle Classic.

I’ll direct you to this discussion, though. It sums it up pretty well with experienced people. Inn AFKers, "Q-dodgers"

Hope you can scroll.

Partially. But it’s also the nature of creative fields that make nailing the landing hard. So many moving pieces

It’s been two days. Get off the high pop server. Easy solution.

With the naming event alone, they had metrics to show that they were not prepared.

Done it 3 times. WTF are you talking about anyways?

Nope, you couldn’t scroll. The discussion in it described where the failures are. Scroll past a headline, dink.

And they started adding servers and warning of wait time then. We all knew there would be waits. Launch the game for yourself a week after if you don’t want them. They warned all of you

You’ve lost your mind

Here’s something I don’t get about all of the people who continue to bash the guy over this; he greenlighted this project. He didn’t have to. But instead of saying thank-you for changing his mind and making Classic a reality, a bunch of people who seem to be stuck at the emotional age of a high school kid are crowing about how wrong he was.

Do they really think a highly compensated senior executive of a multi-billion corporation is angsting himself sleepless over player reactions to a comment he made years ago? No one who actually does business or investing for a living is going to do anything but support a senior executive who demonstrates a willingness to change course based on what’s best for his company’s revenue.

He made the comment. Right now many people are getting their “nyah nyah, neener neener, see how wrong you were?” schadenfreude moment in the sun…and he couldn’t care less what they have to say as long as they are contributing to the bottom line health of the company he is president of.

Only time - a couple of months from now after the Hype Express Train has left the station and what’s left are the people who really do want to play Classic - is going to tell us all whether he was actually right or not.
