Have you ever seen a company sabotage themselves like this? Seriously, think about this. Their president told us we did not want this. They basically laughed at us for not wanting to play their mobile game like WoW client. They did not release enough realms for us to roll on at the beginning, and have since opened over 20 more since launch. They are doing nothing to try and stem the flow of subscribers since it appears their philosophy is still, meh, nobody will truly want to play it. Now, we have 10 hour queues where a mere DC can put you back in it and names saved on crazy high pop servers because they did not release any more to choose from.
This is insane. I have over half our group just sitting in queue while the others are leveling. By the time we all get in we will be so spread out this will not be the game we were hoping for. We will all be divided again instead of enjoying it together.
This is a rough day and all could have been avoided if they had just taken our love for “not retail” seriously.
It’s an example of how they live(work) in a bubble. Blizzard is an echo chamber where they believed it was just a few “nostalgic players” that wanted it. They’re probably the same people that use the excuse, “it’s just an old game” for their retail failures.
Don’t think they are sabotaging themselves necessarily. I just think they are way out of touch.
However, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did want to create a bigger demand and have ques to see if they could funnel players that get sick of waiting into retail. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t work for them.
I agree 100%… but I also have to laugh. What a slap in the face for Blizzard it must be to see how many people want to play WoW how it use to be 15 years ago… and have lost interest in WoW as it currently is. You think they would know their base better… tsk tsk.
I hope they don’t add more layers. ANYTHING would be better than that. Unfortunately, I see these long ques as the perfect excuse for them to keep layering in the game. Forever.
This might be their plan all along, next they are going to “let” us log into BFA at the same time as classic, at which point we will all realize we’ve been blinded by nostalgia! And that yes! We thought we did, but we didn’t!
In fact what we really want to do is spend money on the in game cash shop and buy some mounts!
A lot of us reserved names on the high pop realms when they allowed us to. They should have just never allowed for name reservation(and announced it) if, “go play another server on launch” is their best reaction.
I’m on one of those PvP servers that supposedly has a medium population. Currently sitting in a 4k que. Even the technology they have in place to show total player count is broken. It’s pathetic.
Yeah, this is the problem, I am seeing guys in our group already saying, lets just keep layering if it means we can play and I am sad to say, that idea isnt sounding the worst atm.
If you went into work tomorrow and your boss told you to promote and do everything you can to bring back the previous guy who had your positions work would you really put all that much effort into it ? Would you really want it to succeed ?
The current WOW devs must be seeing red just knowing massive amounts of people are sitting in 2 hour Q’s in order to play the original game that they butchered . Just imagine how they feel right now .
Already got people in our large group saying screw this and just waiting for Destiny and other games to come out. They are already tired of seeing some of us level past them knowing leveling takes awhile. It is disheartening.
Umm no you twit. People are sitting in 10k+ queues because everyone they made plans to play with is playing on that realm. No, I’m not switching to a “new realm” by myself to wait for Blizzard to get their act together.
