I’m not aware of any restrictions for MasterCard, Oakspirit. Where did you see this message? The most I’ve generally seen is when the card needs to be updated because you received a new card with a new expiration.
Battle.net Balance itself should be able to be added to your account by visiting the Shop and in the upper right corner there is a tab that says “Battle.net Balance”, and the option to Add Balance will be there.
Keep in mind, the only game time blocks that are available are for 60 days.
Ah, you purchased a Battle.net Balance card from a shop? You can add those through the Account Management page under Redeem a Code on the Account Overview option. Which I believe you have already done.
the bnet launcher wont take my card and has a pop up that says" heads up some payment options are no longer supported"
man super disappointing that only 60 day blocks are available.
I think im just gonna let them keep the 20 bucks and go back to FF14 at least i can just pay for that on steam and not be tricked into buying useless cards.
thanks for your reply. i do appreciate it even if I’m very frustrated with blizzard.
I’m sorry if you feel you were tricked, I don’t see how that is the case, but I can understand your frustration.
That isn’t necessarily about the card you are using, just a general warning that some cards may not be accepted. I would agree with Jetsum, try removing all of the wallet profiles that you have on the account and enter your card again.
Edit: In case you need it, your Billing Profile/Wallet is located here.
Edit: just saying, paying for a secondary currency already feels bad.
buying that currency knowing that some of it will got to waste feels even worse when you find out you have to buy double the amount. it feels really anti consumer. I’m not gonna permanently quit. but instead of playing for the next few months im gonna play something else. I feel I was taken advantage of.
Correct, if you use the subscription option. But subscriptions are not available with Battle.net Balance. If you’re using Balance, then you must buy blocks of game time, and 60 days ($30) is the shortest block of time available.
Well, that’s not required. But I think we all understand why you felt it might be.
You can buy any amount of Battle.net Balance through Blizzard’s website. The card values you see in store are simply because there’s no space to put every possible dollar amount.
Just make sure that you factor in local/state tax. They like to get a piece of the pie.
I do believe she did an updated one, but my foolish self forgot to bookmark it. Either way, just dropping this here for reference sake. As always, best to click the link for Mitasol’s handy dandy chart rather than the horrible jumbled preview.
There are several ways to pay for game time and they have changed during the past year. You can no longer buy single blocks of 1 month game time as a stand alone purchase.

thanks for the breakdown.
I am now 100% certain of how I can pay for world of Warcraft.
it’s so dumb that this all happened because a glitch with battlenet decided that I needed to clear the cash of all my credit card information.
and now I’ve had an interaction with Blizzard that I regret enough that I’m going to take a few months off.
but now I understand that if I wish to pay for game time with blizzard balance I need to purchase $40 worth of alternative currency to spend $30 of those dollars.
this is predatory.
I didn’t want money for your in-game store I don’t like the in-game store. I just wanted to pay for a month.
Honestly, stop throwing out accusations and take responsibility that you simply did not understand/research the cost of game time purchase, or that the price between 2 months game time card and 1 month game time subscription would be different, or look into fault finding steps as to why the credit card payment wasn’t able to go through before you went out and purchased a battle.net balance card.
We all make mistakes, and often learn the hard way, but ultimately all the information was out there.
it’s also super weird that with Blizzard balance you can’t buy a game token that would give you one month of game time even though I could take $20 off of my credit card and buy that token.
I mean just look at the shop most stuff is $25 The balance cards are $20…
just because other companies do it doesn’t mean it’s not anti consumer.
if I want to use the $20 that I’ve already spent I have to spend $20 more dollars.
anyway my account ran out about an hour ago I’m not sure how much more I can post.
they get to keep that $20 cuz I’m never going to spend it and when and if I do decide to come back for the next expansion I’ll just use my credit card the way I have for the last 12 years.
Not understanding how it works, doesn’t make it predatory. You could have chosen not to purchase a pre-paid card and instead just added the exact amount of battle.net balance to your account. There are a LOT of options available. You could have farmed the gold even, purchase a token from the AH and someone else would have paid for your game time!! That’s about as un-predatory as it gets!
You’re mad that you had an issue with your payment option that you had setup. It’s a weird message that you received (one that I’ve not seen in the 15+ years posting here) but that doesn’t mean that Blizz was out to try and fool you out of money.
You’ve clearly taken a hard-stance on how you feel and that to me is unfortunate. I personally try to learn from my mistakes or from things that I was unaware of. But to each their own.
