Blizz hits us with the ole bait and switch

The legendary cloak requiring pvp was one of the most universally raged at moments in wow history and is something that will never come back.

The other option would sadly be leaving the game. Losing games due to gear is far too frustrating. For me the only options are do content i dislike or quit. I don’t think I am the only person who feels this way.

You’re full of dung if you think its going to take 20 weeks for people to get fully geared from pve.

Imagine if the odd chance that blizz does read the forums once they come across a Bloomsday post and it reassures them the playerbase is ok with everything.

Agree, pretty ridiculous.

It’s kind of comical watching people justify just really shotty development and community relations issues.

Shame on the players for believing Blizzard, again (me included).

Blizzard really is just a horrible company and the players/customers that enable them are bad as well. A lot of the people who have voices (big named players) should have been pressing for more definite answers. Announcing mechanics after a game launched and 1 day before the patch went live is absolutely disgusting from a development stand-point especially when everything was hinted that it was going back to the old pre-Legion vendor days.

“Thanks for the $40-80 for Shadowlands, you have to play THIS way if you want to be competitive in PvP. You also need to continue to pay is $15/mo and eventually you can get your PvP stuff.”

Time gates and jebaits. World of Warcraft 2020.

I think we’ll be fine, honor gear still isnt irrelevant atleast not for a week or 2 and u can still get pieces from random wins if i remember correctly so u have honor gear, random drops and the vault to gain 70% of your gear and conquest to fill the gaps in what you didnt get to drop

i could not agree more with ya’ll. i came back to wow after taking a four year long break because for one i was tired of the other games nerfs, and two i was REALLY excited for SL.

one thing i learned through hardcore PVP in the “other” game (ESO) was that the gear grind is pointless. most people who PVP don’t care about the grind, they want to jump in and smash faces. that includes myself. i want to gear up quickly, and compete, on an equal field.

all this system is going to do is mean that i will not be able to compete…unless i atleast mythic+, which isnt terrible, but when you consider all the other systems taking my time away from PVP it’s a bit disheartening. i have to farm torghast for legendary item upgrades, i have to farm the maw for sockets for gear that i won’t even get for 4 months. then…once i finally get the gear, i get to wait some more to upgrade it. will i even be able to max it out before the next season starts the grind all over again? who the **** ever told anyone at blizzard over the past 15 years that you have to dangle a carrot in front of players to keep them engaged? i’m not a ****ing rabbit, i’m a player. i want to play the content and compete with other players…

eso had gearing right. i could fully gear a toon in one day for PVP, if i wanted to change my build and test some new stat stack or set bonus, i could do it in a day. then i had all my time to dedicate to playing, showing my skill. this system just throws my skill down the ****ter because some sweatlord decided he had more time to mythic raid, more time to gear up, not because he’s better than me.

i will admit, i’m not an experienced PVPer, i’m working on it. just seems hard to work on my skill with such massive difference in gear.

Haha I originally was going to name this thread is “it time to get the pitchforks out?”

The reality is we were all basically tricked into believing that for the first time since legion we’d be able to just play the content we wanted to play.

It wasn’t a coincidence they waited until the last possible moment to tell us.

They did tell us, everyone just chose to ignore the writing on the wall.

i was under the impression that their were more than a few BiS pieces that would only be acquirable through pvp

Do you have anything prior to this update that is a 100% confirmation?

Blizzard announced they were bringing back the old honor and conquest vendor system. The “writing on the wall” you speak of screams of the old 2K conquest / week mechanic. Not something completely different.

They put the conquest cap in on beta… They said how it would work.

The cap was 9k after 10 weeks of beta.

The Cap was 500 in BFA nothing else changed (Honor gains)

The pricing was adjusted, with the new system.

Honor gear was gated for the 197 Ilvl.

All the signs were there, people just didnt want to see them.

Again, did they officially say anything about Conquest being a 550 cap per week?

Beta players didn’t experience the 550 per week. The cap was just 9K so they assumed and made videos that maybe that was the end of the season cap / catch up mechanic.

this is the case
i posted about this in another thread, but vers weighting on pvp pieces is unique with only a couple exceptions on like. rings. if the trinket bonus functions, vers will be the only pvp stat until at least 30 or probably 40 percent. effectively, the ilvl on pvp pieces is higher than the ilvl of all other gear, by virtue of the fact that it’s got 2:1 vers ratios and vers is made way better than its item budget by our trinket bonus.
quoting my post from yesterday:
this is, implicitly and haphazardly and not at all how we asked it, functionally a system where pvp gear has a higher ilvl in pvp.

When they implemented the 9k, they said that it would be a weekly increasing cap.

Doesnt take much of a jump, to look at how long beta was out and do the math…

Then realize the amount is similar to BFA, look at the prices of the gear, and its pretty easy to guess, its going to be 500ish.

If it doesn’t take much of a jump, why did NOBODY know anything about it being 550/week?

Top PvPers who make money on YouTube and feed information as a job didn’t even know anything about it.

Are you a wizard?

i disagree with you that the very late conquest implementation on beta should have been safely interpreted as anything. it could easily have been a placeholder value, it could easily have been anything else. i think you are wrong to say people should all have remembered the exact duration of the beta “season” even though rated queues were unavailable for the VAST majority of it, and then divided the conquest total by that number of weeks.

Stoopz literally stated he thought it 500ish in the video as well.

I guess I am a wizard, as I said this would happen months ago…

Well to each their own.

Again I came to this realization and assumption when the changes were first made. Its not that far fetched to me, that others could have came to the same one.

this leads me to ask

is a piece of pvp gear greater, equal to, or lesser than, pve gear?
IE
Darkmoon trinket
yes i can get the 40% ver boost with my pvp trinket set, but it doent really boost vers by 40%— its alot less.

Or shoud I justt go buy a ilvl 200 tinket that gives me a nice defense boots by giving me barriers?

also-- seeing that 184 is the highest pvp i can get (areana with only 550 CQ this week is worthless)-- should I just buy 190 gear and round out with 184 gear?
