Hard for me to take an kotaku article seriously. Esp one with no sources.
I never said it has zero influence. Please don’t put words in my mouth. What I said was WoW isn’t losing them money, other games are.
So how do you think their expenses have only gone up? How do you think they are loosing money? This is moving into the Twilight Zone.
As terrible as they are for news bias and what now, Jason Schreier as much as I don’t like him, does tend to have genuine information about said topics.
No King rules forever my son !
Or when a company does well… So they can get investors more profit or bigger excecutive bonuses.
That’s comparing apples to watermelons. Overwatch has never been part of the battle royale genre. Overwatches decline is due to overwatch. Slow updates, balance issues, comp being a metafest, and a cartoon frog being banned.
Why should I have empathy for people who will get good severance packages and all they are losing is a job. I wouldn’t expect people to feel ‘sorry’ for me in that situation and it has happened to me. The unemployment rate is low.
Jason Schreier is calling for Unionization of Activision Blizzard as a way to fix the debacle? lol oh man might as well go full on Communist because that’s a sure fire way to make things better?
Why not listen to a few forum topics with the people that have played since launch that are now signing off with a huge page of why’s and also included are a full page of how it could be avoided. But no Unionization fixes it right?
My opinion is that a lot of this is due to Act-Blizz chasing esports and pumping more and more funds into that sinking money pit. If they put all that money and man power into the games themselves I think things would have been a lot better.
Blizzard has turned into a trend follower instead of focusing on quality over quantity. It feels like they are trying to appeal to fans that don’t even play their games instead of their paying customers.
lol yikes.
I think I’m done with this post. There’s a few people who need to take long looks at themselves.
Edit: Next time, op, Nozfuratu. Next time you want to troll the forums about how BFA is not your favorite expac, don’t use real human suffering as your proof that it isn’t good. That’s disgusting. That’s all I have to say.
I think it is the esports ppl losing their jobs and they agree with you.
To any Blizzard employee who may read my comment buried in this thread:
As someone who went through a mass layoff of 1/3rd of our employees just two years ago. You have my heartfelt condolences that things have gone the way they have. Try not to let any of the haters get you down. Stay strong and carry on and may better things await you either way.
You said BfA had “nothing to do with the layoffs”.
Blizzard is laying off employees due to financial trouble. World of Warcraft is Activision-Blizzard’s biggest product, it has the largest team and immense amount of company time and resources goes into it.
Agreed… if it’s really happening, I feel bad for them and for us. I love this game, I really do, I don’t want it to fail, I want it to be better.
I would be willing to bit most lay offs will be centered around Bungie/Destiny positions that are no longer needed. Or even CoD. And that WoW will barely be touched.
You cut positions you don’t need. You dont cut positions from one of your only stable money makers.
Yeah that is exactly what I said about them as well.
HotS = chasing MOBA.
Hearthstone = chasing online CCGs.
Overwatch = chasing team competitive shooters.
Rock’n roll racing = Blizzard releasing the greatest game ever in the history of anything.
Diablo 1&2 = Blizzard creating the ARPG genre.
Warcraft/StarCraft = Blizzard creating the RTS genre.
WoW = Blizzard redefining the MMO genre.
Today’s Blizzard is a trend follower instead of a trend setter.
It’s Blizzard, the top gaming company, it’s the dream job, don’t tell me you wouldn’t be sad if you found your dream job, and lost it. I know I would be.
Well from the things I’ve read it actually sounds pretty awful to work for Blizzard
How is Overwatch Blizzard chasing team competitive shooters, and WoW not chasing EverQuest/early mmos?
Overwatch clearly redefined the competitive shooting genre.
It is not about the genre it is about the players and the market. There are not separate pools of players who play competitive team based vs. battle royal. Also both Fortnight and PUBG have done the PC stuff as well, so fairly sure that is not the cause.
