Iirc the CE 2h mace was bis for feral until black temple. To get that you had to get revered to unlock the heroic then exalted to get the mace plus the grind was a lot longer. Plus you needed rep grinds plus heroics to get into the first tier of raiding. Attunements and keys were still a thing. Should probably save the name calling just because you disagree with an opinion, especially when you’re wrong. This wanting to log in just 2hours a week to raid and that’s it is a new thing. The grinds are not.
Exactly what used to happen when someone rerolled because the guild needed a specific class/spec.
Now they’d have to spend 2 months grinding essences to be effective at that role.
None of these things required rep grinds though.
Only 1 person needed to have the key to get in.

Not enough. By the time 8.3 rolls around, essences should be account bound, especially when 8.3 is trying so hard to distance itself from previous patches. This ain’t the same as attunements or reputations - this is an actively flawed system that has done nothing but made the game even worse than it already is, and Blizzard is making players go through it again when they’ve already all but admitted that the system sucks.

Ahh, so this whole argument really boils down to “BFA doesn’t benefit mid maxers at max speed”.
It was never actually about alts but simply being able to work around the meta. Gotcha.

No, people don’t want anything handed to them on a silver platter.
People want their gear to be rewards from dungeon and raid content, not time gated behind 2 months of idiotic daily quests.

That is how WoW has always been. WoW is alt driven like FF and other MMORPGs. Which is no surprise that shadowlands goes back to that alt driven focus.
Main focus was only really true back in vanilla/BC. And even then you needed alts for crafting.
Even in the Eastern MMORPGs where having a main you grind on for years and years to finally hit level cap you still had alts for crafting.
It’s a waste of time. Trolls will be trolls.

No, it’s the mw / moba crowd who want everything handed to them so that they can play on an even field with no work is the minority. The people who want to play an mmo are the majority, which is why it’s not going to happen
No one can sit there with a straight face and claim they haven’t catered most to the min/max mythic crowd. It’s why the forging system treadmill exists.

Not at all. I dont have bis essences, not even close. But because i don’t have the time to dedicate to doing that doesn’t mean i need to ruin the game for the people who are. The majority of players aren’t on the forums whining. They’re playing the game. You gotta think only a very small percentage of players even use these forums. I know…thinking hard.
