They’ve done a good job at catering to both, actually, which is why we have 4 difficulties. If you’re “better” than the lfr crowd, cool, do normal, you don’t need more than the gimme essences to perform in there. But if you want to play with the big boys you should expect to do big boy activities.
So it’s stockholm syndrome that makes you think everybody in the world is a lazy whiner but you.
The fact that only a tiny percentage of members of any site use a forum on that site is hardly proof that you can claim the overwhelming majority of players actually agree with you.
Most people play this game for entertainment, not to prove they are better human beings than the mere mortals they would never tolerate if they had a choice.
Videogames are a form of entertainment. Do you get upset about people who are not working hard enough when they’re watching television wrong?
far less then no essences though.
You realise absolutely nobody likes this system right? Mythic raiders don’t like it. Casual players don’t like it. The only people who defend it are “git gud” forum trolls.
The majority of players aren’t on the forums whining. They’re playing the game.
But that’s the point. A whole lot of people aren’t playing the game because the essence system made their alts unusable. Many of them people who’ve been playing the game in the same way for 10+ years.
This might surprise you but most people don’t bother coming to the forums to complain that they aren’t happy. They just stop playing. They do something else. And many of them never return.
The situation this time around is even more urgent since there are a hell of a lot of people who skipped most of 8.2 to try out WOW Classic. Those people will never come back to WoW if they are faced with a 2 month essence grind to pick the game back up on equal footing.
There’s a reason every patch since Cata has brought a hard gear reset. So people who stopped playing for whatever reason don’t feel that they have to wait until the next expansion to start playing again. Essences completely go against that philosophy.
The only time I’m on the forums instead of playing the game is when I’m at work, because i get to be entertained by the tears of people like you two. And no, I’m not upset at all. Because i know that come 8.3 I’ll still be able to use all my free time playing wow instead of logging on with nothing to do, which is what would happen if you fellas got your way.
But that’s the whole point, isn’t it?
Grinding trivially easy dailies for months on end is not “big boy” activities. It’s just boring and trivial, it has zero benefits to anyone, all it does is punish people for taking time away from the game. And by doing so, makes it less likely that those people ever come back.
Yes but the thing is that its a weekly lockout and an actual challenge. The loot is earned without having to log in every single day of the week.
Molten Core was a challenge?
Yeah, but back then you still farmed for hours the rest of the week forgold and materials so that you’d be ready for raid night, plus money for respecs to do the gm/hw grind. So in reality this is much better, since you can easily use the money you make from the 30 minutes of dailies for consumables.
I didn’t even think of that before. You make some mighty fine points.
You keep saying months. That’s all I’ve heard all thread is this 2 month time gate. If it took you 2 months to grind either of those reps then mythic raiding isn’t for you. And if you have no intentions of mythic raiding, these essences really shouldn’t be that important to you.
Or if you weren’t bad you could just make all the gold you ever needed from spending 5 minutes each day on the Auction house.
Every time I log into an alt I promptly log back out again because of these god awful essences. Otherwise the system is fine. I don’t want them to lessen requirements for mains.
Maybe some people enjoy doing the same grinds time and time and time again, but ugh, I do not.
Why does every troll ever try to pretend like people who mythic raid are the only ones who should care about maximising their character?
Also the rep grind essences are not the only ones that take several weeks to months to get. They all do. The only one you can get in less than a month is the M+ essence and the eternal palace raid essence.
And while the EP one is relatively easy to get now if you’re raiding heroic EP, that won’t be true in 8.3. It will become incredibly difficult to acquire.
That is two then. You also forgot about Crucible of flame, which you can get to rank 3 in like a few days now.
That’s great, 3 out of 11 ain’t bad eh?
Considering you said only 1 was like that and then list two… yeah.
Wow dude, you got me. You should join the FBI.
I’m not a troll. If i were, I’d just be saying all this to rile you up and then get you banned for all the name calling you guys have been throwing around. I legitimately believe theres nothing wrong with the system as it is, especially when they are cutting a lot of it in half next patch or nerfing some to make the new ones more desirable.
But off the top of my head the ep one seems like it would take the longest, and its one of the ones that should be phased out. The 2 rep ones should take about a month, if that, and can be done simultaneously. The pvp one i couldn’t answer you as i loathe battlegrounds enough not to do it. I’m not upset about not getting it either, which differentiates to two of us. The op mechagon takes around 2 months, but that’ll probably be faster since it’ll be in keys. The arena one kinda depends on you because it’s based on rating, the m+ and the island expo one you can get in 3 weeks. Did i miss one? And no, maximizing your character for a casual player like yourself versus a mythic raider is very different. Usually i get to a point where i can do everything i plan to do and I’m good with that. I’m not going to complain to people on the forums because I’m not as powerful as the people putting in more work
Look at you trying to tell me what kind of player I am.
FYI I was mythic raiding before I went on Vacation to to Europe. Killed 5 mythic bosses in BDA. I came back and found I was so far behind that I couldn’t really catch up during this patch. So I’m waiting for 8.3 like everyone else (guild is on raiding hiatus like everyone else).
I’m not a CE player. But I sit around 1400-1500 .io and usually get at least halfway into each mythic raid tier. And until 8.2 I was doing that on multiple characters. Now I can no longer even play my horde characters without months of essence grinding.
But please feel free to continue trying to be some kind of elitist troll and tell me that character progression shouldn’t matter to a pleb like me.
I like having world quests as an option to get that currency to get raid materials. That is still a minigame in wow. I dislike being forced to do it extensively especially when I find other content more preferable. Getting forced to do essence grind after doing it once is not very fun. After completing it the first time Id prefer some choice in how to get them. Such as a currency and a vendor or account bound buffs/essences. There are plenty of options.
