Blacklisting BGs and Dungeons So EVERYONES Time Is Not Wasted

Just need a way to remove all VC RP and ppl would be fine with Deadmines probably. As far as BGs go I am not a fan of blacklisting because some people actually enjoy the 40 mans and SoTA. IoC and SOTA are really fast. The only thing i hate is the turtled AVs but typically that doesn’t happen.

This thread hit me in a disdain I have for a subset of the classic player base.

You get a reward for doing random dungeons, because you might get a dungeon you dislike… but if you participate and help out with the role you selected on behalf of the other players, you get a reward. And good news if you get a dungeon you like you get the reward anyway.

But that translates to “if you do dungeons you get the reward” and any cases of doing dungeons and not getting the reward becomes a bug or aberrant. You don’t see this as an opportunity to be a tank for others for a reward, you view this as unfairly withholding reward from you.

It reads to me like a kid crying that they didn’t get a present at someone else’s birthday.

And yet noone can explain an actual problem with a blacklist option beyond pearl clutching about entitlement or some such BS.

Keep in mind this is a video game we play for fun.

Yeah asking for random dungeon reward while also queuing into specific dungeons is laugh-worthy. I think the lack of self awareness is comical. But then I think about the average age of a classic wow player and I get super ducking sad.

Fun is an interesting word in this context, because I think it’s been used to excuse some bad behavior including the premise of this thread. Dungeons are a team effort, you’re weighing your actions against the sum of five people who share a goal. You might find having to do things that benefit the team over yourself to not be fun, and if that’s not worth the price tag of the game, I suggest for that person to consider a different hobby.

Blacklisting isn’t queuing into specific dungeons.

dude that’s super wild because when I log into world of warcraft classic right now and go into Group Finder (hotkey: I) and I check it out there is:

Random Cataclysm Heroic
Random Cataclysm Dungeon
Specific Dungeons

Where if I choose what dungeons I don’t want to do by selecting every other dungeon, I would do that under specific dungeons.

Who cares if they are fast. They aren’t PvP so they don’t appeal to PvP players. This is why SotA was removed from the game. Blacklisting doesn’t prevent you from doing SotA if you aren’t a PvP player and like it.

Why do the majority have to suffer for the few? It’s bad design. History is repeating itself we can speed this along and bring in Blacklisting now.

This is the only time AV is good. I wish they would remove the Bosses in AV so we can get nice long large scale PvP where everyone gets 100’s of HK’s. The reason why AV was blacklisted is because it’s PvE and ppl zerg the boss instead of PvPing. PvP players WANT TO PVP!

Love some 30 min AV’s where you get some amazing PvP in. Huge battles at choke points and over towers. That’s what PvP is about.

Better solution, if you deliberately drop a dungeon you have to do two more Randoms before you earn any more valour points.

Blacklisting was always limited to 1 choice.

Even better solution make the VP reward a repeatable quest like the H+ rewards were in wrath classic and not tied to RDF at all.

You would kill Dungeons instantly. People would just play another game.

People leaving Dungeons/BGs is a “Symptom” of the problem. Increasing the penalty for leaving doesn’t fix the problem and only creates bigger ones. It’s always better to address the source of the problem which currently is the badly designed Dungeons and BGs. Giving players agency over gameplay makes players want to log in.

Increasing loot and rewards also helps fix the problem. You are then creating a game worth playing and is fun.

Only for chronic leavers. I’ve left maybe one dungeon since Cata launched.

If there are certain dungeons you refuse to do, you should not do the random queue. The random queue means that you may get any dungeon, even the ones you refuse to do.

Can you elaborate on the “was always” portion of that, as far as I know there is no mechanic called Blacklisting with any duration of time. Googling “WoW Blacklist Dungeon” pulls up nothing, which is peculiar to me because I thought you might be referring to a real existing concept in retail, but now I’m skeptical this idea exists at all.

No you would make doing Dungeons so unfun it’s better to play another game. That isn’t how you get players to log in. Penalties don’t fix the problem, never have and never will. You fix the actual problem by making the game better and adding QoL design so players have fun.

Blacklisting was for BGs and it was in game for 3 expansions allowing players to Blacklist 2 Random BGs from Que. As mentioned above it allowed players to enjoy the game and change how they wanted to play that day or with friends. Also it gave the Dev vital Data which lead to the decision to remove the most Blacklisted BG from the game and create separate Ques for large BGs.

Adding this feature now just gets a jump start on the problem for BGs like Strands and expanding it too Dungeons will successfully give players agency over their gameplay. This also will give the Devs data on making fixes to the most Blacklisted dungeons either buffing loot or removing annoying mechanics. It’s a Win/Win. The players win and the Devs win. It gives them the chance to make the game better for us.

If we increase the penalty and you stop playing we can then increase the reward for double plus good…

This doesn’t change anything for people that find dungeons fun. The people that find dungeons fun aren’t the ones leaving constantly.

I don’t think you want 45 min Ques or never getting Dungeons completed because the majority of the players see no reason to play anymore.

It makes no logical sense to increase the penalty when the problem isn’t people leaving. The problem is the Dungeons and BGs that people are leaving. Why not fix the actual problem. You seriously don’t understand how to fix the issue or improve the game.

Again lets improve loot, add QoL features, give players agency and more ways to earn Valor/Conquest. Lets have fun! This game can be better so lets just do that.

I wonder what you’ll do when raid loot gets placed into dungeons like Deadmines and you need it for your alts (if you have any) will you still be condemning people to you leaving, forcing those you left behind to either look for another tank or leave because of you.

I think the most upsetting thing about this is after googling, this is a conversation that was being had verbatim 11 years ago.

We already saw exactly how that works in wrath classic. The majority of players will already be in that gear so they’ll be doing it for the bonus reward, just like how most players are doing dungeons for VP at this point.
