Yup, and I think you’re spot on with that assessment; tho I have always been of the opinion that the old system needed an overhaul to promote PVP instead of just Zug right into and out of the BG as quickly as possible. I am not by any means opposed to making it more accessible, and hell I would prefer that because it gets more people playing WSG and AB meaning I get more games to enjoy basically on demand.
My desire of getting back 1.13 has everything to do with play mechanics that have been scuffed by “Seasonal” changes; things like the TBC out of combat timer for PVP, things like the 1/100th sec batch window that in a way harm the counterplay options that were previously present that in the existing format limit viable spec’s on 2 classes I enjoy playing due to the smaller batch window.
I think there is room for using a 1.13 Base, and updating the PVP system quite a lot, better than even now, and to even preserve some batching, perhaps make it 1/10th sec instead of the 400/1000 sec batching we had in 2019.
Additionally I would like Era to be on its own unique client so that seasonal can evolve without being hamstrung by Bleeding into Era; doing so would go a massive distance into potentially making something like SoD actually good rather than the present disaster that it is… Not to say SoD itself has a chance but something like it in the future could be possible and good.
As for the PVP system itself, I want something that promotes PVP play and participation in mass, instead of just raw participation.
Decay was 100% the problem. A great system would be an escalating decay. Such as… week 1 of no PvP 0%, week 2 3%, week 3 5% etc etc.
The immediate harsh decay was brutal.

This was originally intended to strictly kill botting… but the forums went into an outrage and they decided against it.
This is why 1.13 is dead and never coming back. The botting for pools is out of control.
Keep presenting yourself as a fool; you’re wrong about 1.13, its a superior version in nearly every way.
The function of that was during 1.13, but you attempted to pretend this was somehow as if by freaking magic patched recently or something, you absolute fraud.
Additionally its not a matter of the botting or any of that nonsense, I have even stated so clearly its about the game play mechanics, but you clearly like to ignore that bit.
As for Pool parties, I don’t know anyone who was actually botting that… It was in late 2019 version that this became common due to the rankers having left the PVP system and the late bloomers wanting to rank easier assembling their clown show.
As for what to do with that? Update the PVP system to be less exclusionary; use the 1.13 client to recover lost mechanics and ditch this 1.15 trash pile that’s full of bugs and bad changes.
They really are fine on era, the economy has been solid for years now. Any player can casually play and raid all the raids without a lot of time farming if they only desire to raid log. You need only buy a few consumable components and craft them weekly to support your own use via use of the auction house; a nice market still exists for things like flasks and potions and engineering items for use in raid and PVP.
