Bioware. What happened to the giant?

Its always good to wait for the right reviewers too. Some of them really view games with rose tinted glasses whereas others are more objective. No more totalbiscuit though :(.

frankly i’m shocked people were even a little bit willing to buy anything with the bioware title after whatever the hell anthem was, sorry but if you were still willing to pay for any of their products after that you deserve what you get…for the love of thrall people when a game studio shows you who they are…believe them the first time

I loved all the Mass Effects, still one of the best video games of all time and a sci-fi story that ranks tops too, regardless of genre.

So I’m excited to hear they are moving on ME5. ME4 got ripped by reviewers who had obviously not played the game - answers to most of their complains were right there, in the game, if you played it.

Anthem was actually a really fun game that could have been so much more, just… the story sucked and for a live service game, the support sucked. Gameplay wise it was amazing.

If they had tightened up the story and expanded the end game, we’d be talking more about success

Veilguard, was the nail in the coffin for them for reasons that we cannot discuss on these forums without getting downvoted and temp banned for.

Other than bigots whining about wokeness, what’s wrong with the game?

From what I seen through streams, the dialogue is pretty bad.

Which is not a good thing for a Dragon Age game. It’s not really a game you play for anything other than the story.

Mediocre story, mediocre gameplay, just a mediocre game

actually the news from STEAM was positive, I haven’t played it so I have nothing to say about it game wise

" Dragon Age: The Veilguard is now Steam’s best-selling game, breaking BioWare’s concurrent player record"

were you saying bigoted things?

Makes me wonder, lot of old school da fans I know didn’t like it at all, so wonder if this is a newer section of people more used to ds games vs the more strategic da games

I haven’t played it myself, but the videos I’ve seen of the gameplay and dialogue look bad to me. The character designs look ugly, the dialogue sounds more like sitting around in a therapy session instead of epic fantasy, and the gameplay looked wonky to me… like somehow worse than DA:I.

I forgot about how weird the art design is

what exactly is “wokeness” in a game, I hear people complain about that but I’ve yet to see any examples in games I play.

Well, read between the lines.

“Steam’s best selling game atm.” What other game released at the same time as this one? Anything?

“Breaking BioWare’s concurrent player record.” When’s the last time BioWare released a game? Google told me 2019.

Pretty sure it’s just anything with non traditional relationships or non traditional beliefs to them

i get that part but that Bioware is long gone. Those people left and EA is not going to put out a cRPG when they know console games won’t buy most cRPG games (or strategy games)

Larion would like a word on that lol, turns out people want good games, even if they might not necessarily be the exact gameplay they usually go for

What we get a lot now, is bad games coasting on a name, da, Diablo, sometimes even wow

2021 with the MA legendary release. Also, McDonalds sells a lot of burgers. That doesn’t make them good burgers but that doesn’t mean people don’t eat them either. Too many people are “I don’t like this game therefore no one else should like it either!” You don’t like it, don’t buy it. Other people like it and are buying it. OK, whether or not the game sells well has zero impact on me.

Eh, games selling well leads to more games of that type, so if you like a particular game, or even a particular genre, you really want it to sell well
