Big Blood Elf Customization Thread

Male Belves need so much more than they gave them. The chains could have at least bumpered some of it. But now they have barely anything. They should have given scars and tattoos to them like they did other races.

No, I´m saying they´ll take advantage of people mentioning jewerly to implement the less they can. Not necessarily your posts per se.

Honest to God, only they know why they removed the assets -maybe creating tmogs to make it visible for one race wasn´t worth the resources they needed to use or some executive decided that the less they touched the “sexualize females” stuff with the ominous lawsuit pending over their heads was a bad PR move, etc.-

Frankly, jewerly is a terribad customization asset regardless of the design, unless they deploy it with a ridiculously HUGE amount of colors available for both the metal AND the gems. Cause I know I would NOT sacrifice that chest piece I farmed for weeks, months or even years just to exhibit something that may not match the rest of the tmog either.

Wouldn´t it work better if we ask for Rommath stuff first? I mean Lann… nobody can (nor has) contested last time i saw the Belf fanbase claim over that style of tattoos. They´re Blood elf true and through, the “Farstrider ones”…oh boy. More issues with the other half of the fanbase. Those seem to be low hanging fruit in comparison to stuff seen on Alleria andthat we need to provide examples to differentiate from.

Blizz monkey paws everything. With or without feedback. Which is why they ignored so much feedback in alpha, beta, PTR and then live. I honestly think our posts only steer them in a direction if they were headed there anyway.

I hope that changes though. I’ve been a proponent of more eye colors, more hair, scars, tattoos, etc. for years now. I’ve been on this forum literally for years. This and the older version. Pushing for that stuff.

Well, the arcane hand stuff for the NB (as “mediocre”· as they were; personally I like them more without the extra line delimitating the fingers but that´s just my personal taste) is a good example on them actually listening for the feedback. And them removing the snarl from the NB male faces too at least (maybe it IS related to the language used… I remember I sold it to Linxy as a “bug” because the models shown in the official art didn´t had that weird shape on their lips.and i explicitly told her using this words).

That’s just where my personal efforts are and have been focused / will continue to be until implemented.

I think Farstrider tattoos applies to many classes in one swoop and their inherently a BE organization so I’d like to see them added to allow a unique option in / player agency in that regard.

And then obviously the second visual theme I’m after is the same standard they’ve set for Void Elves that saw BEs lose visual uniqueness I don’t think that’s too much to ask for in either case.

The more particulars I’m focused and ready to argue for as time goes on once the other lacking core races get done too, the above is just what I think is fair for the immediate future / to get the ball rolling on some sense of fairness and also to make up for the lackluster pass that was both lacking and saw BEs theme freely given to VEs second set of options.

Then things that can benefit all races as well take a priority with benefit to BEs, like scarring, not locking accessories, the added diversity options I mentioned, heterochromia options.

It’s a start for sure. But the glow isn’t the exact same people asked for so the monkey paw lifts a finger once again.

Is the rumor about them losing basically half of their developer team real? Cause that would perfectly explain the half-ased job.

/looks at picture

Hehehe… I´m a weirdo, i still rather get the player option. Maybe the brightness has some restriction as per the model animations or some pixel count for the playable model? It IS weird that both the tattoos and the hands got deployed with much less deffinition than the NPCs.

One question: these stayed female only, i take it?

The red eyes are basically ALREADY implemented for the Belf model. And if they managed to work on the panties of 14+ give or take skins replacing the Belf undies with the Velf ones, putting undies in ONE skin color (the Dark Ranger skin is slightly brighter than the Belf DK ones currently on use) should be both infinitely easier and infinitely quicker in comparison.

We have Velonaras citation on referring to Sin’dorei as her kin as much as forsaken and she considers her and her DRs Horde.

Exiles reach now has us start as horde adventurers which works in the case of these RP tools as they don’t start in Quel’thalas.

It fulfills the request for a second visually distinct set of options a situation / standard they gifted Void Elves which the point of contention is the loss of all sense of visual uniqueness.

This the death themed expansion starring Sylvanas, how did they not fit time to add these options but other RP tools not connected to the expansion made it in.

I don’t know. I know they fired 20 people in the company and are investigating 20 more, but that was across a couple games at least, if not a few. With the huge layoffs, that was mostly people in QA, CS and the online store, so that wouldn’t have impacted things.

They employ overall thousands of people and always had hundreds that worked on WoW. And pulled people from Diablo and HotS to work on WoW during BFA.

I don’t know why they went with the dimmer option. My Nighborne I feel would look better with the brighter glow. Since I still use her heritage armor. And she’s a warlock. It just looks more magical.

The hands I’ve only seen on female characters, not male yet. But I have no idea if they are gender locked.

I thought they could escape its influence if they draw upon a different source of magic? Otherwise any elf with green eyes is automatically not-canon, same with the purple eyes they added. It’s how the elves in BC were able to not go entirely withered, because they drew from the fel crystals and energy. Some can still do so!

It’s also how there’s high elves in Dalaran and such, they weren’t drawing from the downed sunwell at all, but the Dalaran energies.

Cause that´s the CURSE of the forsaken stuff. They got just as ignored in WotLK. SL represents a SECOND time of them getting ignored in favor of developing human characters (back then it was Varian and Tirion, this time it was Jaina and Anduin).

The way I see it, the best approach to fulfill the expectation of the most players possible would be a future toggle so people can choose to keep the dimmer option or run with the brighter option (same regarding the tattoos… i hate how they are practically invisible in the lighter skin tones).

U-oh. That doesn´t sound good. I remember they said they were working in this assets for the FEMALE model, i worry they abstained from even trying with the males. Why do the male models on the elf races get screwed up on customizations every time in comparison to the female ones?!?

I’d love a toggle, considering that the hands are a toggle to begin with. Giving more options to an already customization starved race wouldn’t be bad. I’m a bit disappointed that there is only one hair decoration being added too.

I don’t have a male Nightborne to check their options. I’d have to create one to see if they have it.

EDIT: Created a male Nightborne on the PTR and they have the hand glow.

I’m an idiot and needed to read this more times than I should have to get what you were saying, and just repeated what you said XD Sorry, carry on. I clearly am out of it today, but yes, basically everything you said there.

It’s why blood elves can have so many themes, they are the eevees of WoW.

Nope, the effect is permanent, long lasting and unescapable. That was the reason Kael et al HAD TO blown up the Sunwell after Arthas used it to resurrect Lich Kel´thuzad. and trhe reason why Aurora could taste it´s energies when it was once again back up and running regardless of her living exiled from Quel´thalas.

The way I see it, the Light didn´t replace the magical energy, it merely perfectly neutralized the Fel secondary effects and the elves ended up as a “blank”. I´m a chemical engineer, I understood it as a perfectly balanced chemical reaction.

Beware, boring science stuff ahead:

When you want to manufacture sodium chloride (commonly known as salt), you mix one specific acid and one specific alkaline component. If the amounts of acid and alkaline material are perfectly balanced, you will obtain the salt and water… if one of the components is in bigger quantities than the other, you get salt, water and the remanent of the excess substance.

Translating this theory to the Sunwell, we have that any excess on “Light” would had indeed inevitably transformed the eyes of every Belf and Helf to golden color. But this didn´t happen, making me theorize the amount of “Light” present was just high enough to counteract the Fel but NOT to replace it with an excess of Light. It is too a good explanation about why “devotion” is a factor to develop the eye color, after all Light as a "cosmical energy is… picky. Sometimes it heeds the call of the user and sometimes it ignores the call -we saw that in “Blood of the Highborne”. Priests and Paladins would be more devoted than your average mage, ergo they would be in contact with light energies with more frequency… and if their bodies lack a “Fel” corruption, well, i suppose then light will take it´s place inside their bodies, then?

I hope my theories didn´t made the explanation worse.

Which is why heterochromia additions to showcase green eyes turning into blue or golden would be another good addition that benefits BEs but arguably can be argued for all races. It just has extra meaning imo for BEs showing their green eyes fade away… or maybe a warlock gaining green eyes idk, or Allerian elves returning to Quel’thalas aka HEs returning but exposed to Fel energies just like BEs were and regaining their blue eyes or getting golden

No it doesn’t, what you said before explained it well enough. To be completely honest, I wish the blood elves did a the fruit thing like the nightborne who ‘broke’ their addiction, essentially, because I sincerely and truly hate the sunwell lore, it is in fact the worst thing about blood elves in my personal opinion. Because it leads to fanatics screaming about how now we’re ‘lightforged’ yada yada yada.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. So if you add in more of a chemical (blood magic) it will turn the reaction to the more extreme end (Red eyes) or even more extreme (magical mutation, radiation from the blood magic use, anima, or undeath). Same with fel, if you’re constantly using fel, you’d still have those chemicals (sunwell) but keep the green eyes because you still use fel (green eyes) or go more extreme by adding a burst of fel through demon’s blood (felblood elf).

OH! I have a chart, darn it where’s my chart, I posted it a while ago… .gotta find it, darn it. It basically says lightforged elves aren’t a thing, there is no ritual for blood elves. Only draenei as of current in this timeline of Azeroth. (So AKA no extreme chemical turning point because there is no overdose of light that changes the biology of elves yet.)

Exactly, very well said Lann!!

It is a gradual process… had it been a reaction hugely in favor of the Light cosmical energies, the devs would have updated Lor´s model with golden eye colors and Danuser himself would NOT had mentioned devotion whatsoever in his twitter. But he did, pointing to a “NOT HOLY or GTFO” Sunwell… the issue is more complex than “it has light inside, therefore it is holy and nothing else, case closed!!”.

As a lore fan you can´t imagine just how much worse it is… the fanatics trying to impose a theme on us is the least of our issues. Imaginer a story beat in which an enemy faction takes the Sunwell for ransom… that faction would literally own every male, woman and child to do so as they pleased. Cause the thalassian elves would had to obey or else they could get corrupted inevitably.

When one takes that bit into account, one understands why Rommath kicked out Umbric et al… the Belves already had destroyed the fount once to prevent corruption polluting their bodies, they can´t risk any other chances of that happening. The Sunwell is a commodity yes, but a HUGE hurdle and weakness too.

The TBC writers never took this into account with the narrative… the Legion ones did, ergo the NB finding an actual REAL cure, not getting their fix back for the lols.

If you notice, creatures absorbing huge amounts of any of the cosmical energies in WoW get some kind of mutation after effect. Regardless of the race. the thing that varies are the conditions indeed:

Fel and Arcane (as mirrors) are the “passively corrupting” ones… people just needs to live near them and depending on their cellular structure, they will gain dependence on them (kindly reminder the Helves and Belves ARE pretty much arcane addicts. And the NB became arcane addicts too after 10k years of living near an arcane artifact).

Light and Void are the “picky” ones… indeed a ritual is required to “gain” the blessing and the properties seen in both LF Draenei (corrupted by Light) and Velves (corrupted by Void)… even Alleria had to sustain her own version of a “ritual” if you think about it (“eating” increasingly stronger creatures associated with the void cosmical energies).

Nature and Death are the middle ground… the amount of corruption seems to be directly associated to some particular amount of energy exposure (a “thresold” as we call it in chemistry), some kind of limit that once crossed causes the mutations. Malfurion developed green eyes but only after 10k years of him playing druid in the Emeral Dream. Bleeding Hollow Orcs become Dire Orcs but only after getting infused with huge amounts of Blood magic. Undead got raised only after a particularly strong magical device linked to a powerful necromantic magic was put through their literal bodies (so strong it broke their souls like in Uther´s case).

I actually copied it IRL from my Blood Elf character so I think mine might be a bit more “shameful” lol

If only a manbun was not so labor intensive to get to stay in place.

Those look really cool.

I’m not sure the designs themselves feel “Warcrafty” but the general idea and implementation is pretty much spot on for what I think Blood Elf tattoos in general would be.

The range of colors is also pretty awesome.

Pretty much my thoughts on the subject.

The Dark Ranger Tear/Makeup/Warpaint/Facepaint concept is basically adjacent to the “Farstrider Tattoo” but unique enough and stand outish enough to make everyone happy AND it woks with many other themes as well as feeling more “Horde” like.

I think it would make everyone happy.

This.

She has a Choker, a more decretive Armbands, and a circlet.

Why didn’t Blood Elves get ANY of these?

The way I see it, there are 3 types of people doing this.

People who want to troll Blood Elf players. People who don’t want darker/edgier themes on Blood Elves. Greedy people who want it just because.

Their “Reasoning” is just to reach one of these goals.

I do not agree with any of these.

Yes, please.

I agree with this.

I also agree with this. To an extent.

I think the jewelry NEEDS more Metal/Gem Colors and patterns not not be left as a half baked attempt that only one gender can use.

That’s how I see it. Currently. Before they change the lore again…
