Soon you will realize the forum posters are a very small portion of the entire player base. Most people are just playing the game.
WoD still reigns supreme as worst expansion in WoWâs history.
Some knee-jerk reactionaries will complain that BFAs worse, but it isnât.
To each their own, but WOD was terrible, and hopefully we never get an expansion as awful as it again.
BFA is still not good though either.
Hmmm, like I said, I found WoD to be heaps better. Only downsides to WoD was:
- It was abandoned too early, and had very little content throughout the entire expansion
- Garrisons seemed like a good idea, but it was just poorly implemented
Where BfA, the downsides are:
- It has become very unfriendly for everyone with alts (8.3 was the final straw with how extremely long and boring it was just to obtain the Legendary Cloak)
- Artifacts and Azerite armor being a complete failure, and worse system (Though the Legion Artifact Weapons were pretty cool)
- Still no PVP Vendors
- RNG at worse levels than anything
- No Class Tier Sets (Ofcourse had to be removed for the Azerite Armor)
- Class Design at its worse.
But, everyone does have different opinions man, and there is no right or wrong with who likes who.
Shoulda stopped the thread at that comment.
It seems more likely that most people are quitting the game tbh.
Personally, I liked WoD, but Iâm one of those weirdos that unironically loved the garrisons. Micromanaging and optimizing teams on every alt was my jam. The fact that the mission tables are completely worthless in BfA is another major strike against it in my book.
Downsides to WoD:
Literally nothing to do, if you were not the two groups catered to, Raiding or PvP, you pay $15 a month to play a glorified Facebook game, that you donât even have to log into the game to play.
2/3 of the gathering professions were completely devalued out to absolutely nothing, because everyone and their mother got free supplies just for logging in daily.
The storyline itself was utter garbage and a massive plothole that never should have happened, and had no actual impact on the mainline story line, and was just filled with recycled characters to tie in with the movie that was released.
Garrisons were intrusive, mandatory, and continue to infect the game with their terribleness to this very day.
Even the cut content wouldnât have saved it, because it woulda just been another raiding tier with absolutely nothing else to do.
Transmogs were kinda ugly, and didnât have a major draw. Also Legion Fel green was way over done.
Downsides of BFA:
Story is kinda meh, but at least it actually matters in our own universe and isnât some side universe non-sense.
AP grinds are kinda dull.
A bit too much pruning.
Armor sets are lackluster
Wow, gee.
BFA is mediocre, but itâs nowhere near as bad as WoD was. To this day I donât go back to WoD zones if I can help it.
Ooh, lets think of positives for WOD:
Some people liked PvP and Class Designs more. (Not that there was anything to do with said class designs)
And⌠HmmâŚ
Hmm⌠thatâs all I can think of?
BFA has a plethora of things to do, new races to unlocked and level up, and has an actual functioning (If kinda awful) storyline that actually matters in the long run. Mythic+ Is something many people really enjoy, though that was released in legion, but it still exists in BFA
In the end, both are pretty bad. But WoD is worse.
Theyre not worthless. If you have an alt army you can rack up probably 1500-2k gold a day +whatever rep. Thats still a lot in the long run. Worthless is too strong of a word simply because you dont think its worth it. The alternative is we can go back to feeling like you HAVE to. You knowâŚdoing missions 3 times a day(on 20+ toons)? WoD felt horrible because I didnt feel like I had the choice between doing garrisons or not.
So, you like the idea of:
- Bad Class Designs
- No PVP Vendors
- Bad Story Writing (BfA Story)
- Bad introduction to a new expansion from fighting to save Azeroth to destorying cities and fighting each other
- Grinding for nothing
- Professions in a nutshell (Though, WoD Professions werenât the best either)
- CRZ/Sharding in current zones (Though I hate CRZ/Sharding in general in the open world)
- Island Expeditions is just repeating the same thing over and over for bad rewards
- Content where youâre never going to lose (Talking about Warfronts here)
-
My class hasnât changed in multiple expansions, I donât feel the effects of this, also said classes were overpruned, so youâre wrong on the first option, not a good start.
-
Iâve advocated for PvP vendors to be added back, but I donât PvP, so It doesnât bother me in the long run, and has zero bearing on my ability to enjoy an expansion.
-
BFAâs story was still better than WoDâs stupid time travel plot hole story.
-
WoDâs intro was fighting your way through the dark portal from an invading army of generic orcs that popped up because apparently the bronze dragonflight fell asleep and decided to do nothing, and then to promptly crash and not be able to play for 2-3 days.
-
You mean like Apexis grinding? Grinding isnât a new concept, itâs been around for ages, this isnât new. And at least I can passively farm AP, compared to going out of my way for grinding Apexis.
-
WoD professions were worse, because at least in BFA I can make money off herbs.
-
I literally donât care about CRZ/Sharding. It has never been a major negative effect on my gameplay, this is just people making mountains out of molehills in my eyes, and just complaining to complain.
-
I enjoyed Island expeditions, I enjoy pets, mounts, and cosmetics that I got from them, and I enjoyed seeing new islands and neat little set peices. It wasnât the most engaging content, the race was kinda dull. But Iâll take dull with costmetic rewards, that I actually have to interact with, over sending NPCs out to do the interacting for me.
-
Who cares? Itâs casual content, donât like it, go do something harder. You have a plethora of more difficult content at your finger tips if you want it.
BFA is overwhelmingly mediocre, but WOD was just bad.
BFA feels like an inverse Cata. Bad towards the launch and really respectable at the end⌠barring the raid cinematic.
At least in WoD I could actually PvP and gear up doing itâŚ
Thatâs gonna be a no from me dog. This patch is a train wreck.
What?
How can I be wrong about Class Design being worse this expansion than what it was in WoD? I enjoyed the Class Designed in WoD better than BfA, and all of a sudden, I am wrong?
You implied I liked worse class design. My class hasnât changed much, and Iâve been against class pruning and stated that classes were pruned too much.
Thatâs how âYouâre wrong on the first option.â because you assumed my stance on something, and were wrong.
Way to get defensive over nothing.
As I said though man, everyone has different opinions between WoD and BfA.
And youâre welcome to your opinion if you want it.
I just disagree, and believe WoD was hands down the worst expansion WoWâs ever had, and I hope nothing like it ever darkens WoWâs doorstep ever again.
Also, I apologize about that post when I quoted about the stance on Class Design. I misread your post.
WoD had so much better class design, PvP and gearing design.
WoD was also so bad, BFA literally just had to be better than the lowest expac and it couldnât even accomplish that.
Would agree with OP on this one, didnât particularly love WoD. But Iâll take decent with no content vs a ton of garbage.
Came back for the patch and to prep for shadowlands. Iâve done the cloak quest line and the war story. But Iâm about to dip again because thereâs nothing to do that doesnât involve dailies or farming rep. Maybe Iâll pick up FFXIV?
Happens to the best of us, which is why I just went ahead and corrected.
