Don’t forget about www wowrealmpopulation com it gives active characters per server. It gives a good idea about how dead some servers really are.
Interesting site.
Its actually good data even if its not 100% accurate because the data can be calibrated by looking back in time to the times when blizzard did indeed post numbers to show both their margin for error and representation of thr data as a ratio.
Then use that to get a reasonably close estimation of the gross subscribed population.
I have fun looking at it just to see the estimation of activity on my old server. Makes me sad really from being high pop back in vanilla/tbc/wotlk to low pop now.
My server slso did exactly that.
Early Vanilla it was Medium, but by the end it was High pop.
It stayed high population to the middle of wrath when it started to noticably decline back down to mediuim.
I came back in Legion and it was a deserted ghost town, then quit and tried out BFA, but its even worse.
I do hope they figure out a way to improve retail to get subs back up, but personally I am done with retail. Raided throughout Legion with my guild and it just wasn’t fun for me anymore, heck raiding hasn’t been fun for me since Vanilla with 39 other people charging a boss. Just no longer get that epic feeling out of raids anymore when i see 15 or so people next to me fighting a boss.
they need to make wow2. perhaps an alternatve vanilla on separate server, that’ll be the retail version.
change things up - give alliance playable high elves (the ones that didnt follow kael’thas, stayed in the alliance till blizz decided to inexplicably give them to horde, a faction composed entirely of races that historically killed high elves.) give horde playable ogres. horde players like thicc so give them ogres. they dont like skinny elves. forcing elves on them and denying elves to the faction that was begging for them, was silly and bad customer relations.
hindsight is 20-20. hehe
add new classes, like bards and necros. or give all the classes a 4th spec and roll bards and necros into them.
add new raids and dungeons like medivhs tower, karazhan crypts or emerald dream. ya know, do stuff!
playable etherals.
playable decursed naga.
gnome faeries with dryad mounts. hehe
just because it hasnt been done before, doesnt mean it cant be done now.
p.s. the gnome faeries would be all over the place. hordies would have a punting extravaganza. have to be some kind of druid. maybe a 4th druid spec. and for horde druids, they’d be goblin faeries. make necros a 4th lock spec, that specializes in undead pets, like val’kyrs.
see this guy? peddlefeet pet? he’s a goblin. already got a functional model for it
Just add animations…
i could see tauren druids going for it cause they could get into doors easier haha. normally a big he-man tauren bull, in faery spec, is tiny little flying goblin make it a druid form, better yet.
Only if they give hunters the option to use shotguns and blast em. (Elmer fudd)
was trying to think what would be an ingenious 4th spec for hunters, that could roll one of the later races in. worgen spec. you transform into a worgen, just not sure what you could do special… what benefits would it bring.
No idea, what if it was cosmetic only or had some sort of howling call that allowed for longer distance communication to only other worgen??
I mean that does sound like a “Vanilla” thing.
oh cool. how would alliance versions differ from horde versions? i love this type of thing.
I quit playing at the end of wrath, after having played from 2005 till wrath. I came back for BFA and felt it wasnt the same game, the rotations were mind numbingly easy, one class felt like the other, buffs and community were gone, so i unsubbed and am just waiting for classic now. BFA is garbage, and has nothing on classic. And before you say this account is new, when i quit in wrath i let my kids roll toons on my old account, so when i got divorced i gave that account to my ex and kids.
OR just make the Horde have certain races and Alliance have certain races…
I think it’s kinda strange having split races…
OR WAIT… This is WoW 2 right? Why not make any race able to play whatever faction they want?
I mean they could handle this in an elegant way like for example You have a parent “Faction” but it’s not part of any one major alliance… Say you can always be friendly to your parent race, or even neutral… But you have to choose an “allied” faction to be a component of their military…
That could be the first “OPTION” And it would have certain things tied too it like Military gear rewards such as the PVP faction grinds, and “alliance / Horde” only gear.
A secondary path could be mercenary where you’re neutral to both factions, but you’re also neutral “yellow” to all players too; excluding all mercenary players who’re friendly ( After level 40)
This would allow you the benefit of playing for both factions in PVP and selecting from some other rewards but they would not be quite as powerful as the Military rewards presented by the 2 major factions.
Also there would need to be some sort of “Balancing” that would take place where if you play too much for a single faction then you begin to gain reputation with them and become part of their standard forces and loose your merc status…
OK, I went way off in the weeds here, but that’s how I would handle the thing…
haha wow… it’s a vanilla reboot, separate server, experimental if you will. new wow or wow2, it’s an alternate timeline version thanks to chromie. it has vanilla functionality and difficulty/simplicity/complexity/mmorpg-ness but, a few things have changed and been added, like a 4th spec to the standard classes, new dungeons and raids, not as replacements but in addition to.
i know if there was a faery druid spec, i’d play it without hesitation lol especially if they had their own unique dryad mount.
oh just thought of horde version of worgen, frost wolf form. you’d look like a worgen but be frosty white.
It’s not a reboot, it’s a museum.
If Classic proves popular enough they’ll make changes to Retail to reflect what they’re learning from Classic. They won’t be changing Classic.
Why does it need to be a Worgen? Why not make them kinda a druid like creature who’s racial is a Wolf travel form or something? Standard mount speed, standard cast time, but they don’t need to use a bag slot because it’s their racial.
Kinda fits the “Vanilla” kit in a way, because it does not need to be super powerful, just interesting and fun.
Heck they could even upgrade it at 60 with some sort of a very long racial quest that costs roughly 1300 gold in mats and stuff.
We’re not talking about replacing Classic, that will stay till the end of time.
We’re actually talking about an entirely different game.
