unwarranted mass reporting is actually pretty rare. especially to the point that you get banned from playing. a lot of people here are freaking out over something that will likely never effect them.

Agreed, but people do like to have that peace of mind.

As for naming, they’re much more relaxed about this than they used to be. All it says now for naming rules, outside of RP servers, is you just can’t have certain characters which aren’t on your standard keyboard. I’m sure you can’t have anything explicit or suggestive either, but it doesn’t even say that in the naming rules.

Earlier in the thread people were speculating that he was automatically banned because people used the automatic reporting system to report him for ganking and they were afraid that this system would be used for similar reasons in Classic and basically destroy PvP.

However, Blizzard later responded to the reddit thread and said he was banned for harassing a player that had placed him on ignore through using the in-game mail system on multiple characters.

So it had nothing to do with PvP and everyone got all in a tizzy for nothing because this is the internet and that is what we do here: get all angry and bent out of shape about something before taking the time to gather all the facts and pertinent information about a situation before judging; we just regurgitate our emotions into text on message boards.
