BFA player mass reported and banned for 72h for engaging in world PVP

No i think that some of dude on youtube getting banned intentionally does not trump being able to report jerks in chat.

Blizzard put themselves in that seat with the automated reporting.
Mass reports should get GM attention and let the GM decide what to do instead of this automated crap.

I think its funny, that the blizzard response to him, refused to give him any information on why he is was banned, but just said it was due to “Harassment”. With how much attention this is getting on reddit and GD, I bet blizzard is just digging through his account looking for something they can use to save face for his ban. “This wasn’t due to pvp this was due to you calling someone stupid, 3 weeks ago in a random BG.”

Didn’t asmon also prove the ban is easily over turned?

He didn’t get banned intentionally exactly. He asked to get mass reported to see what would happen. Do you think people should be banned instantly just because people right click reported you? Yes or no.

Are we assuming Blizzard does not immediately, or shortly after, review those autobans?

No, but a lot of the limitations from multiple reports like silencing in public chat sure.

Sometimes yes sometimes no. Blizzard isn’t one entity. They are people. Some are lazy and say deal with it and some look into it. Just like when that multiboxer was doing this is wod some people stayed banned for a couple days and some were lifted almost instantly

Ok so you agree then he shouldn’t have been banned? So why are you arguing

Just another example of Blizz associating rewards with WPvP being a HUGE mistake. People WPvP because they want to fight RL players. People reporting others for killing them because they want the rewards of WPvP, and don’t want to have to suffer the consequences of dying for it is absolutely ridiculous and the person/people that reported this guy should be perma-banned for doing so.

True. I saw that for alliance turning on warmode gives them a 30% exp buff. And someone on reddit said just because they are in warmode doesn’t mean they want to engage in wpvp.

A new way to grief people on world bosses.

Quick, everyone report their tanks!

I see now why so many people want to roll on pvp servers in classic.

Why are you arguing right click reporting is bad?

Give a real reason outside of a couple edge cases.

Well, that’s just too bad. If this is really the way Blizz is going to handle this, more people will leave this train wreck of a game. Me being one of them. It’s ridiculous.

I never said right click reporting was bad. Actually I specifically said it isn’t bad. I said instantly banned someone out of automation is bad. Read.

That is strangely hilarious.

But, if he was harassing players, the ban is well-deserved and without further details, we can’t do anything but speculate. He could have easily been banned for something outside the scope of what is shown on the video.

It’s beautiful when things work as intended, and even better that it is coming to Classic.

Abusing a system (which can also be speculated) because you don’t want to engage in pvp is not “working as intended”.

“Abuse of a system” can not be proven in this case. Without knowing the exact reason the person was banned (as it could have been something completely unrelated to the video), there’s no way to say for sure that there was abuse done by anyone but the person banned. Even the OP of the reddit post says he can only “assume” that he was banned due to the wPvP.

They need to just get rid of the automated bans and just have it so a mass right click reporting instance would just make it so it needed to be reviewed immediately. Especially with classic servers because people get reputations for doing certain things and could easily be targeted and harassed.

For example, during wrath of the lich king me and my friend went to every single guurabashi arena every 3 hours that we could and would just murder anyone who tried to complete it. We would loot only the charm just in case we died the people wouldn’t get anything but the box was there so they would keep coming. If this happened in classic and people would know that this is something we did, we could be mass reported and kicked out of this event. Even if the ban got lifted it still has no reason to be in classic.

Yeah in this specific case there really is nothing to argue because we obviously don’t have all the facts. OP could have been straight being toxic for 5 hours and then starts recording world pvp and says thats the reason he got banned.
