And if I didn’t intend to level all my characters to 80? I habitually leave an alt at an instance and run it weekly. Nah, I just won’t bother…since they squished during BFA and ruined legacy content, I’ve played so much less, I’m not sure it’s worth the sub. Only my guildmates in Cata Classic keep me playing at all.
lol no it doesnt. now your just lying.
this is the main reason i hate the level squish. everything else about it was good but the fact old content has to get a power creep based on max level is just retarded. why should my toon feel weaker during prepatch when im still at the apex of power doing old content
the problem is there probably right. sure things do break but this is blizzard were talking about.
It’s all tied to Chromie TIme.
Before Chromie Time, they NEVER buffed OLD content.
We had squashes sure, but everything got squashed, and we got ‘compensation’ for any relative power loss in the form of buffs or debuffs (legacy buff in old raids, debuffs of instanced mobs such as WoD).
With Chromie Time, every expansion has this mess where when they extend it to include the previous expansion (DF in this case), they go and rescale everything in a way that reduces relative player power in old content.
Chromie Time needs to be it’s own phase with it’s own scaling, and anyone not in Chromie Time needs to have access to the content as it was originally scaled.
That or non-Chromie Time players need a buff when in old zones / instances to compensate for the loss of relative power.
As to the ‘Ion / Blizzard designed it to specifically make things more difficult for players or to sell expansions’ posts - there is some validity to that as when pushed on this issue in the past, they have kind of given us deflective non-answers or said something akin to the ‘just level up in new expansion’.
If it was only things like outdoor mobs and normal mode dungeons then it could be Chromie Time based. But when heroic & mythic dungeons and raids of any difficulty are also affected, I think it is something else. I mean you cannot do those types of content in chromie mode. So why do they have to be adjusted for chromie time?
Chromie time might be a part of it. The other part is that they wanted to smooth out the ilvl gains from 10-70 now that Dragonflight is the default leveling path for that range. And as a consequence BFA and Shadowlands content got buffed as a result. Most liekly due to the ilvl changes. Although it is weird that BFA content are dropping similar ilvl to Shadowlands outside of Chromie time. Like Mythic Ny’alotha is dropped gear at the same ilvl as the early bosses in mythic Sepulcher. Even though the former is tuned to level 50 and the latter is tuned to level 60.
Hell normal BFA and Shadowlands dungeons are dropping gear at a higher ilvl than mythic Sepulcher. They screwed up bad. Even though with DF as the default leveling path, BFA should drop scaling at level 50 for all forms of its content when you are not in chromie time.
Yup.
If something is reported on as a bug but persists. Then it is no longer a bug but an undocumented change.
Just reporting that this is still an issue as of todays maintenance.
Can we get an official response please?
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Blizzard never comments. They just silently wait for the problem to ‘go away’ once the new level cap is reached and pretty much everyone stops talking about it.
The more I think about it, the more I think stuff like this is actually intentional and not an accident. They recently adjusted basically the entirety of Remix because of scaling issues introduced by the prepatch and announced these changes in the hotfix notes. BfA and SL stuff was untouched and not commented on.
I think a not-insignificant number of accounts actually don’t buy the latest expansion and remain at the previous level cap ‘for free’ and this sort of adjustment is actually motivated by those accounts for one reason or another.
Easy fix, make legacy buff a million times your attack power or spell power. That way all boos and mobs dies in one hit. Don’t even need to worry about ilvl or tuning.
Eh, the legacy buff was intended to preserve (more or less) our power relative to these areas after an associated squish. They never really even got that right, but that’s what the intent of it was. So that we’d still feel like we were ~900 ilvl, or level 120, or whatever state we were prior to a squish, after that squish.
Nowadays they decided to abandon that idea so anything past Legion we’re supposed to more naturally overpower as we continue to level and improve our gear. Kinda throws a wrench in things when they’re actively buffing it though.
The problem has been around since Legion released, and has never been acknowledged let alone addressed. I’m of the opinion any “bug” that persists for 8 years through 4 expansions is a design decision. Yes, they could correct this, it makes no sense that you arbitrarily become weaker in content you were doing literally days ago; they choose not to. shrug .
Yeah, the hotfix notes yesterday that explicitly mention making adjustments to Remix because of the scaling problems introduced by 11.0, while completely ignoring the state of BfA/SL, were what finally opened my eyes to the likely possibility that these nerfs weren’t on accident.
They increased the Ilvl.
if its anything like last time the statement will be something along the lines of “its on purpose go buy our new expansion and gear up then you will be able to solo those old raids…maybe…possibly…several patches later.”
cause thats pretty much what they(ion?) said in an interview sfter the shadowlands level squish.
The issue after every stat squish or ilvl change we are back to square one where these old raids are harder to do. Last time they did a lvl and stat squish it literally mess up a lot of old raids.
I mean they are old old raids people farm them for mogs why not just make it easier give people like superman strenight and the boss are like a regular human so we can just one shot them? Is just another way blizzard wants players not to have fun
you could’ve said that the raids were atleast worth it because of the gold increase but not any more
- nerfed gold
- tougher enemies
- LMAO
Well I knew this was happening. 3500 gold from each legion raid was far too much. Ah well at least I made an easy 40k before the change
are we gonna have a party when they reach claim 1000?
shrimp cocktail party at maximum liquids house
- Killed gold making from old raids
- Keep the raids in their buffed status
