(BETA) Dragonflight Priest Talent Tree Feedback Thread

this is 50/50 i think it will only apply atonement on the application of renew and not each tick. and saving disc mana is a good thing cuz we end up Dead in the water if the grp/raid dosent have innervates to give

can always increase cost + strength. This would actually make PoM spreading a good option and make renew a more decent option for all priests.

I really hope they allow many iterations of Shadow Form visuals we had in the past. But to be in Shadowform and not have ANY visual indication I don’t think will be an option purely because from a teammate or player enemy, It might NEED to have that visual indicator in order to properly plan your next move.

While I agree it’s nice to save mana cost - buffing all raid healing by 10% and making the atonement applicator cheaper and do more healing - AND probably causing PoM to apply atonement through bendiction (as bonus benediction renew casts actually do fully cast renew) is a lot of buffs for our raid burst window.

This is excellent for M+, but uh, let’s hope that raid testing has Disc doing poorly because Blizzard has shown time and time again that when an aspect of Disc in raid testing is doing well, they nerf all the wrong things.

A few things I noticed though reading some of the general notes.

The original tree had limited choices as it was obvious which direction you were supposed to go based on specialization. Additionally, we wanted to reel back on how much throughput was available in the Core tree. While there will still be some throughput options available, we wanted to focus on utility options within the Core tree to let the Specialization trees focus more on throughput choices. Here are some abilities you will see in the Core tree:

We’re probably going to be seeing Twist of Fates, Improved Mind Blast, Shadow Flame Prism, and Unwavering Will chucked out the window.

Our goal with Holy was to allow for further specialization into your favorite spells. Whether it’s increasing the power of your single target heals, AoE interactions with Prayer of Healing and Holy Word: Sanctify, or you just want Renew on your entire group, we hope you are able to find a playstyle you enjoy.

I’m wondering if the tree update is actually going to split off into 3 different directions that are viable. Or if they’re just teasing us.

I think Twists of Fate will probably stay in the class tree. I think that the “idea” of how it works in that it can be a skill shot snipe proc from SW:D and works for all 3 specs is reason enough to stay in the class tree.

That’s my opinion anyway.

where are you getting this number>

Ive thought about that too and feel like a whole total cover of void doeent need to be mandatory, but various options in how a player would like to manifest it.

Like give the option to remove the whole shadowy form appearance and add something like Frost mage has, but purple souls above the spriest’s head,
or a purple soul that circles around the spriest,
or a purple trail of void foot steps, or purple void fog falling from the spriest’s hands,
or purple void shadowy wings that pop out of the spriest’s back when in shadowform. Those are just a few of my ideas on now shadowform could manifest on a player.

I suppose

I just want OG Shadowform back myself lol.

The simplest form tends to be best imo haha.

Though, it’s nice to see that a lot of the changes here were things that were brought up in this thread as possibilities - strong or not.

At the very least it’s clear they’re discussing what priests are talking about. I remember quite a few of these changes being suggested by people here or in the shadow AoE thread.

Renewed Faith - it’s the talent right next to renew. It buffs all healing on renewed targets by 10%. Absolutely a must pick for Disc now if renew is applying atonement.

thats a good conversation if the talent tree’s stay the way they are but everything is up in the air rn so it might not be the time to jump to conclusions

I guess it’s possible they move it into holy’s tree. But I see no reason it wouldn’t stick around in the general class tree besides Blizz ACTUALLY trying to pull all throughput out of the class tree.

Nothing on Lightwell with the general notes, guess I have to wait for the full list
my faith is waning.

Just saw the changes coming to priest and I am very excited!

I was already decently happy before but these changes are even better.

Good news!

While I too have wanted a glyph like that. It seems like shadow priest will not be able to cast the abundant of holy spells while in SF come DF. Which means it’ll be viable for those of us who dislike the form to lean more into holy use/side/spells (and thus forgoing the the gcd of form dancing) and just forgo it. That’s my plan anyway lol.

so when you think about disc tree right now two of our capstones are
1 atonement generated by powerword shield increased by 2 seconds
2 atonement generated by Smend increased by 2 seconds.

i feel like our trees are about to get a major overhaul

I kinda like some of the changes. Still Dissapointed there is no talent to upgrade Star/Halo for Holy. Like disc does

Hopefully they put Lightwell where it belongs :put_litter_in_its_place:

Spoiler alert. They won’t.

Oh I don’t expect PW:S atonement extender to stay, likely replaced with ‘flash heal’ in the same talent.

I don’t think we’re getting an ACTUAL major overhaul though. There’s plenty of room in our trees for these talents. After all there’s quite a few ‘empty’ spots in the disc/holy trees. And being a cynical person who’s worked in the industry, I know they don’t have the time to like do a HUGE layout shift for 10 different trees considering Druid’s probably getting the same treatment.

More likely the class tree and shadow tree see the biggest changes

Edit: Keep in mind, I could be wrong! I’m not saying I’m for sure right or anything. It’s just what I expect.
