(BETA) Dragonflight Priest Talent Tree Feedback Thread

Although I don’t really mind having to rely on SFP for dps, Maybe Crystaline reflection could be decent too in terms of overall damage in dungeon. Since PtW and divine star can be selected at the same time as well, it might just be that we won’t need Mind sear anymore really…

My issue there is holy and shadow dont want to use CR. Disc doesnt want to use it really even if decent. I wouldnt mind a replacement all could use. But i understand your view. I really think SFP might be toast judging by the alpha priest comments about it not really fitting in with shadow play style. So /shrug

Wicked star is kind of nuts. The % damage increase counts for the star’s recall, and refreshes the DoT duration, so the DoT is like 13-15 ticks. It basically takes Divine Star’s damage and makes it do 4x that.

If it stays anywhere near as good, we’re not gonna suffer.

oh im not thinking we are bro, just that holy wont be so far behind. i do think mind sear would work nicely with shadow cov in this xpac tho

thinking extended shadow cov duration and schism, mind games, mind sear wikid star dark penance, spreading ptw. I can see some nice numbers there

I think it’s also got a lot to do with blizzard’s reluctance to use atonement transfer rate as a tuning knob.

As far as spells go, personally I’d like to get disc to a place where their “Big moment” ramp payoff comes from them casting their core spells and them naturally being powerful. Schism penance with the new penance talent (Once its tuned to not be the strength of a nuclear bomb) and light’s wrath both fill that role quite nicely.

Yeah it’s why I think their talent tree is pretty well designed, whether on purpose or by accident. You’ve got a clear path to separate raid play (dump all your damage into a big moment with Schism, giant penance, LW) and M+ play (Wicked Star’s huge AoE damage, Mind blast shield/cooldown, Scov, Death throes mana) that will make tuning specific types of play easier.

I think Disc needs more spells in its rotation of damage dealing spells. It’s not enough especially since we’re getting a whole two seconds added to Atonement duration. We really need to feel that payoff after a good ramp

There is no world where this will be effectively balanced for both disc and shadow. This stuff was already a bit underwhelming as disc for the whole of SL. Whilr intertesting and useful, the damage prevention wasn’t all that fantastic for kinda high mana… now it seems to be better in DF but if shadow uses that with their instant MB procs here and there… ugh. The only outcome for the talent, if it stays there, is that it’s going to be nerfed to the ground and become trash for disc…

They can segregate the balance towards specs. It Wouldn’t be a hard thing to do. They do this all the time. I don’t see a reason to worry about this for disc. I do however see this be nerfed. For shadow Spec eventually along side ether mind blast build if history does repeat itself.

Overall seeing as,imo at least, is the most exciting thing currently for shadow. I wouldn’t want it removed for them

fair enough

TBH I love current mind blast and I think people are kinda crazy for not liking it. But I’ll still take the buff I guess :person_shrugging:

I do too, tbh. I think people who don’t like it are likely just throwing it in like it should be in a dps rotation or something.

Find it a bit expensive is all… But such is disc kit I guess :man_shrugging:

Just like I prefer unstable aff to hold most of the weight dmg wise vs malefic rupture, same I would like for mind blast. But the dependency on void eruption to void form for full burst pretty much won’t allow it. Also the spender mech as well. I like for spells to have weight when cast, especially the class iconic ones.

This is a class wide issue, some more than others. One reason why I can’t get into balance druid when most of the dmg is star surge or star fall

Personally, when I use mind blast, I would like to see it hit hard.

Enduring Renewal! I think that talent is great. I think it’d be nifty if they added CoH to it.

Edit: I’m actually quite surprised they didn’t try to make one of the Holy spec tree branches more Renew-themed. There are a ton of people who still cling to the Renew-centric build that was good back in WoD and many would probably enjoy it.

I know I would. Cant wait for the mixt of Divine Word combined with Salvation for Crit and stronger renew on raid.

Just hope they’ll stop doing lazy design and add Salvation and Life to Divine word.

I would also like if Lightwell would work like The Well of Existence It would be much more usefull that what we already have.

Also would be nice for holy to get the equivalent of Wickedness but for Holy instead. Halo and Divine star are good abilities but would be nice to make them better like this got.

Sure. Why not move life into the holy tree at the same time since it’s going to be even more worthless to invest there as anything but holy.

I mean, that entire row is trash for 2 specs out of 3…

Forget the row, the whole tree is trash.

It can be quite good for Disc if you focus on Dps branch in the class spec. And you got for healing branch into the Spec branch.

Life can provide a good save. Also I think Divine Star/Halo lose their healing via wikedness. And also Penance might lose its healing via Shadow Cov also. Disc will need good save Heal

HW: Life is a cool concept, but a 20% threshold is too low and finnicky for PvE. I get it’s meant to mirror SW: Death, which is awesome thematically, but the difference is that when an enemy hits 20%, they’re just going to continue to go down (save for PvP) - when an ally hits 20%, they could and often will go up any millisecond from their own healing, another healer’s heal, random splash healing from the group, etc. Even if you hit it the second someone falls below 20%, and even if you weren’t in the middle of casting another spell or the GCD when that happens, there’s still no guarantee you actually hit them when they’re still at <20%.

An easy fix while maintaining the flavor/limitation is simply “if the ally’s health was at 20% or less in the last X seconds” or to, of course, up the threshold. But without something like that, it’s really unattractive, which is unfortunate.

I also think it would be nice if it was actually a tier 1 talent up with PoM and SW:D. Have Holy start with HW:L and PoM, and then Disc start with PoM (which could apply attonement or have other synergy to make it more interesting) and SW:D. But that’s just personal thematic preference, and one of many class tree changes I’d argue for.

Life is interresting in itself. I’d try it with any spec honnestly. But the branch that leads to it is utter trash. Ahadow has to waste 8 points into oblivion to get it.

For disc it’s a lot less bad but I’d be more interrested to go there for pvp and holy nova, ‘when shielded’ and the renew talent not close to renew are kind of hard picks :weary:. In it’s current state, maybe in m+ as disc. But I feel the rest of the tree has more to give…
